This place is well hidden and completely adorable! When I walked into this place it was like walking into your crazy favorite aunts place. It’s decorated with a few antique cars and all sorts of flowers and modern esque Victorian pieces. It’s like that cute little house from the 40’s with flowers and lamps everywhere. It’s adorable! And it’s fitting, since it just looks like a random house next to a gas station. In fact from the gas station, you would think it was just someone’s house, until you get to the other side. There’s a tasting bar that doesn’t charge you for samples and you can try everything on their list. They’ve got a nice selection from dry to semi’s to sweet and a few dessert wines and even a port! They offer an upgraded«package» that lets you pair cheese and crackers and fruit with your wine and includes a winery glass. Prices are decent, at an average of $ 15-$ 16. Some less some more. They also have a little shop for your wine decorating needs like typical wineries. Their wine is different and delicious! Lots of varieties. And you can have the choice to buy it chilled if you prefer! The ladies were totally helpful and descriptive. They can get a little sidetracked if they have a few groups, but had no problem going back and forth if other members wanted to try something like the whites and you preferred to go with the reds. They didn’t push you one way or the other. Great experience and I plan to make this a stop when heading through the area every time!

what a fun stop in our way home from Nashville. just 40min outside of the city. Very large gift shop with some antiques to look at. The women pouring the tastings we’re very entertaining. My husband and I sampled nearly every wine on the list, free of charge. Don’t be afraid of the Port, it’s delicious, and found it’s way home with us. :) We would stop here again on our way to or from the city. :)

We stopped at this winery on the way to Nashville, which is just off of Interstate 65. The lady who gave us our free wine tasting was Kendra and she was excellent at her job. She explained the history of the place and explained each wine. They had a variety of dry and sweet wine, all reasonably priced. They had a lot of wine related nick knacks too. I would stop in again.

You ever walk into a place and think, my mom would love this? Well I dare you to not feel that way here. They have a nice little gift shop and let you sample all their wines. For me it a great place to bring people on the way out of Tennessee.

This place is eclectic and not your usual winery. However, we enjoyed the unique flavors of their décor, and wine. No, you will not get a tour(as the grapes are not grown on the grounds) but the tastings are fun. I would much rather spend my money in a winery close to home, and support my local neighbors than to buy from a liquor store any day! Plus, the prices are very fair. There may be better vineyards in the area but we still enjoyed our visit.

Aside from the wines, I like to go there for the gift shop side of it. They have some beautiful items and it’s just fun to go there, I think. They also have some nice food items: cheeses and dip mixes, too. Another neat thing they do are their music shows on the lawn.

I will admitt that Sumner Crest is a bit corny… but let’s face it, it’s in Tennessee. The laws governing wine are a joke. You can’t ship it or even carry it yourself across state lines(a law which i frequently ignore). The winery is a bit odd(classic cars inside and Greek statues outside), but I have tasted wines from local wineries all over the southeast and they definately have their strong points. Orlinda Gold is my favorite, as well as their Port wine. We served the Orlinda Gold at our wedding in Dickson, in keeping with our old southern theme. One thing that the previous Unilocaler touched on was the sweetness of the wine. It is sweet. It was explained to us that the palate of their customers, lend themselves to the sweet side of the«taste spectrum». Their wines are very reminescent of Muscadine wines from Florida wineries. Whenever we pass by on I-65, we try to stop in to pickup a few bottles of our favorite wines. One thing that is a bit of a let down is that they don’t have a vineard. They told us that they use grape juice that has been shipped in from off site locations. In that aspect, it is not a typical«winery». I recommend stopping in if you’re in the area, but don’t plan to spend the day there.
