Bought only a few things here when I drop by to kill time but the selection of DC comics collections starting to match those of comic shops.

Great movies for great prices! New and used! Deals on used movies are awesome! Always keeps us coming back! They have t.v. series too. And some of those series are hard to find, or they are too expensive any where else! The only reason I leave mad I’d because I end up buying the deals and spend more then I wanted too, but not mad because they are great movies that I don’t see anywhere else. lol!

I would have to say I’ve been going to suncoast stores forever now, and I’m happy they still exist because where else would I go when I’ve just moved and have no new movies to binge off of until I get my cable/internet or whatevs set up. Only downfall is they are a little over priced for certain things, some older box sets were still like $ 30 bucks … They should be a quarter of that price, just saying. But I don’t want them to go out of business so I will continue to support them(:

Things are overpriced here and I’m honestly surprised this place still exists. Then again, this is Oregon. I’m giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 due to the fact that the employee working put up with a real pain in the tush customer, like a champ. A little old religious lady was giving him a lot of crap about some jesus movie he had suggested to her. She had told him that she had seen a ton of movies like this, and that they all were the same(hello, it’s the bible…). The employee maintained his composure throughout the whole ordeal — even when the lady questioned his religious beliefs and he let her know he wasn’t religious. She let it down on him, and he still was as cool as a cucumber.

Suncoast Motion Picture Company was one of the highlights of my ‘90s upbringing. It’s hard for some people to fathom that a store(or chain of stores) can help define one’s youth and provide an outlet, a congregation, a place for sermon. And every single time I went to the mall an obligatory stop at Suncoast was a given. Then 2007 hit, and one by one the Suncoasts starting getting killed off until come 2009 when the last one in Washington state closed. I was sincerely bummed. I had not visited the Lloyd Center location since my last trip to Portland in 2002. I read, with a lone tear streaming down my cheek, that this was the only Suncoast left on the west coast. So, I packed my bag and made a special trip to Lloyd Center solely to experience Suncoast Motion Picture Company, for perhaps, the last time in my life. Dramatic? You bet. But man am I glad I made the trek! The staff was friendly, and helpful. The selection of films is still the best you’ll find anywhere. And one thing has changed, their pricing is much much closer in line with places like Best Buy and Target to the point of where you can find some REALLY good buys. Suncoast was nearly everything I remembered. Movies as far as the eye can see. Obscure titles, imports, rarities, and mall prices. Granted, Suncoast is not what it once was. You can tell it’s a generalized extension of the current f.y.e brand, and sadly the heart and soul of Suncoast has taken a hit. Think back to 2006ish, Suncoasts had everything movie related: walls/bins of toys, movie posters, movie memorabilia; basically any and everything film related was stocked, and while they have traces of this, they’ve trimmed down their stock to basically movies top to bottom. It’s a sign of hard economic times: trim and conform. But, I’ll take what I can get. I come from a generation of mall rats where it was standard practice to have a Suncoast, Sam Goody, AND a Camelot(f.y.e) in every mall. And within the last 5 years I’ve watched it slip to a majority of malls having none. I have to admit it breaks my heart seeing such a defining icon of film and spending wither to nothing. Sorry if this review is mostly a trip of nostalgia for me, but I have to convey how excited and emotionally involved I am with these stores, and I drove 155 miles to shop at the last Suncoast on the west coast. I hope if you ever hit up Lloyd Center, or Portland, you give this place some support.

So I went in here because I needed a quick cheap shirt to replace the one that I spilled stuff all over on my way to work. This hadn’t been a good day so far. The sales associate pointed me towards the clearance t-shirt section. He started pulling out for me what he knew were clearance T-Shirts from the section and asked me what my size was. I told him and he found me four options. A Sonic the Hedgehog shirt, Modern Warfare 2 shirt, a Twilight shirt, and something else I can’t remember. I chose the first two mentioned. My purchase cost about $ 8 and I was on my way to having a better day. I give the review 3 stars because I have never enjoyed the steep pricing at this store but I find the sales associates are always friendly and helpful, they have lots of unique merchandise(hard to find), and they do still offer used merchandise at a discount. Thanks for making my bad day a little bit better.
