Best credit union around! Very friendly and helpful! Have helped us out with all of our financing needs, even when we have been turned down by other banks/​credit unions. Simply the best!!!

I love Sunset Science Park Federal Credit Union!
For years, I used to live and work very close to SSPFCU which made banking very easy. I would walk in and the employees would know me by name, ask about work, my pets, travels, etc. They were all always so friendly and pleasant. Now I live in California and still bank with SSPFCU. I have called them more than a handful of time with questions and an actual human answers the phone, every time. They have helped me work around the fact that they don’t have a branch down here and have made it unnecessary for me to set up an account with a different bank. They have truly spoiled me, I will never go back to Wells Fargo or any other big bank. Thank you, SSPFCU!

I have «dealt» with B of A, Washington Mutual, Chase, Wells Fargo and the worst, US Bank. I learned in working with these large institutions that you, the customer, are little more than an account number — make your, (preferably single) transaction and move along. The tellers converse with each other, not with you, the customer, the reason they have jobs.
And then I found Sunset Science Park, aaaahhhh.(can you hear the choir in the background and radiating beams of light?).
This is a small institution that makes you feel big. From my first interaction with the staff, I found this was unlike all other financial institutions. The staff is welcoming and friendly and, amazingly, greet all members by name. First name! Not only are they warm and treat you like family but they are professional, efficient, thorough and always happy to spend time on you and your financial needs.
The pros to banking with SSPFCU:
Member owned and non-​profit.
They offer competitive interest rates, usually beating the best rates from local banks.
SSPFCU is insured. This isn’t always the case with credit unions.
They have a small membership so they really get to know you and your needs.
FREE checking accounts. No minimum balance requirements. No per check charge. No maintenance fees.
Surcharge free ATM/​Debit card.
Free online banking. Free Bill-​pay.
Overdraft protection.
Free notary service.
Low rates on car/​boat loans.
Competitive mortgage and home equity loans. Best, they never sell your mortgage loan to a third party vendor, your loan always stays with the credit union.
Now the cons:
Limited membership: membership is available to anyone who lives or works in Cedar Mill, or is an employee of any of their select employer groups. Contact them to find out if your business participate. Keep in mind, once you join, all family members are eligible to join!
Only one location and not in the neighborhood for some members. However, SSPFCU has networked with CO-​OP Financial Services, the largest credit union-​only ATM Network in the country. You get SURCHARGE-​FREE access to 28,000 CO-​OP Network ATMs. This includes: 9,000 deposit-​taking ATMs and 5,500 7-​Eleven locations (throughout the U.S. & Canada).
The pros clearly outweigh the cons!

I love this credit union. They know you by name and most tellers know your account number before you even sit down.
I recommend them to all my friends.
