Sur La Table

The employees at this location really made my day. I had just had a really bad customer service experience at the Broadway Kitchen Kaboodle, and I was still upset when I walked in to SLT. The employees here were so friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable about the product and patient with all my questions. Got everything I needed and left with a big smile on my face — they really turned my day around.

I love Sur La Table! They’ve got great stuff, and especially their private label items, great values. It’s similar to Williams-​Sonoma, but with a different selection. For example, while WS features Shun knives, Sur La Table carries Kramer knives.
I like that the employees seem to be into what they do and are helpful. It’s pretty cool that they let you test out the knives too. I really wish we had one of these back home in Hawaii… But since we don’t, I’ll make it a point to visit whenever visiting somewhere that has one!

Great customer service. Recently they assisted me with purchasing a Nespresso. Although they didn’t have in store or online the color and model I wanted, they found a solution, gave me a deal and I left feeling great about their store and service. I’ve always found what I needed there and also have taken cooking classes that were great!

Went to the cookie swap last night with my 2 gal pals. 7 different cookies and 1 candy was made in 3 hours. Thank goodness some of the dough was made up ahead of time. That was maybe 1 thing to many to do in the time. Disappointed with the candy (nobody’s turned out) — the chef told us she halved the recipe. I wouldn’t have bothered with making the candy. The bigger disappointment was how the cookie swap was handled. Each group made a batch of cookies with their name on the pan. Which lead me to assume we would get our pan back after baking. No such thing. So the one cookie I was excited to get back (and we had 2 pans of them) went to another group. When I asked what’s up — the chef told me, the names were on the pan so we could see how everybody’s cookies turned out. Left with a very sour taste in my mouth. Pretty sure I won’t be needing to go back for any more classes and there are many other kitchen stores in the area that I will be taking my business.

Its a fairly big store and it is packed. They carry lots of hard to find things, little kitchen tools, electric gadgets and all for your kitchen needs. If you have looked every where and can’t find it, try here.
They aren’t cheap but they do have good sales and their selection size often means they will carry a tool cheaper then Williams and Sonoma. Besides it is cool to just see what all people have come up with.
Looking around you is a good way to find gifts for hard to shop for people (as long as they like to cook or entertain).
While it is packed it is also well organized and they have a friendly helpful staff. So you can get in and out fast if you need to. Or if you are like me you can just wander around. Though warning you will probably find something you didn’t know existed that you now really need.

Was so disappointed in this store. New management?
Went in to buy there newest wolf oven and have it shipped as a gift and the store manager said no — they would have to charge us the sales tax rate of where a gift is being shipped. Plus additional shipping fees.
I also remember shipping fees waved on purchases that were this high. So,. Padding the the tip jar with extra shipping charges and sales tax. Really? You keep the codes for every county and every state where they have various sales tax rates?!

I can understand maybe a phone purchase — but an in store purchase?! Why would it be more important to be rude, abrupt and loose a sale because a gift item gets shipped out of state.
That is ridiculous. We have visited this store on many other occasions and have had exemplary service from everyone except this new manager.
They lost a $ 600 sale because the manager was a weird controlling cranky person.
Sad to say they lost a good customer. We have dropped in to buy stuff from them including an expensive Nespresso machine and other items.
Oops –redundant. But yeah. Poo poo on you guys. You messed up a gift because you are trying to — what,.pad your sales with additional sales tax fees and then — there is no way you guys are filling out sales tax forms for other states and mailing out the money from an in store purchase.
I think it might have been a way to pad the «tip jar»

Been here a few times. I was really happy I could by an igrill 2 thermometer and get 20% off. Store is always clean and they carry good products not cheep stuff. The prices are about what would expect for the products they carry. The employees are nice but could be a little more helpful. I want to do some of their cooking classes someday they always seem to have some good ones going on.

Generally I like «Sur La Table» and their products, but I did not enjoy «Seann’s» dismissive attitude in Portland. On two separate occasions, I was sort of summarily dismissed. Customer service is a difficult thing to tackle sometimes, but Seann kinda sucks. Not constructive but truth.

We love this store and the location next to Powells is great. We mostly windowshop but get ideas and order on line as we are traveling. This is likely one of the best stores. The store in Seattle is more quaint, but harder to find items in. Staff are helpful but not gushing. I would like to have the opportunity to take a class in the classroom adjacent to the store.
parking is not too easy but its downtown, take the trimet or garage park.

We did a private cooking class for 10 people on a Saturday morning. Sam did a great job — very helpful, very hands on, and very well done.

Aside from street parking being nearly impossible to find evenings and weekends, I love everything about this store. They’re a little spendy, but everything I’ve purchased here has been high quality and lasted a long time.
I purchased a French Press 5 – 6 yrs ago that is still perfect, almost like new. And the kitchen towels and napkins have barely faded after several washes.
Service isn’t always consistent however. I’ve dealt with a couple of theirs employees who should probably not be in customer service positions, honestly.

COOK IT UP! Great store, awesome service and first-​rate products. Anything you need to facilitate your kitchen is here from wooden spoons to fine cutlery, all sorts of utensils, many good appliances, espresso machines and elegant to simple dishes, pots and pans. I purchased a really fantastic Italian ice cream maker with built-​in freezer and have used it alot to make delicious ice cream. What can I say? I am a guy and like it and my wife loves it too! We have taken a handful of fun & very instructive culinary classes (learned the best way to hold a knife that I always use). We have most of the classy, functional, Rosle utensils, hanging on a nice rack on the wall cuz they are stainless, lookin cool, German made out 1810 surgical steel. No pressure shopping here and lots of help. If you want to look good cooking, get that right stuff and cook it up.

This is one of those places that «you look but don’t touch». I can afford to buy a $ 1.50 spice jar and not a whole lot else. I will admit there were more things in my price range that I realized. A mortar and pestle went for under $ 14 and a spice grinder was in the $ 40 range. I thought the cooking facility in the rear was pretty cool, oh to have the working space like that in my own place.
I just wrote a review recently about an art store that I like but is very cluttered in an organized chaotic sort of way. Sur La Table is also in that same vein but it is a place you want to wander, and want to find that odd garlic press, that foldable cutting mat, that necessary copper pan. You just got to remember, you are paying for the name.
This is a place to find specialty gadgets and pots and pans that you won’t find a Target or Fred Meyer. You need a Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table to get these specialty cooking items. It really is a great little store and the staff were very helpful. I will say that you can get the specialty salts and other spices that they have a whole lot cheaper elsewhere. But if you are a foodie like me and do have a bit of a talent for cooking, then yeah, this is the place to go to.

They have a wide selection of kitchen gadgets, cutlery, bakeware, cookware, etc. That stuff is fine, but I find better prices on Amazon. Their white dishes, however, are awesome. We bought 4 white square-​ish «bowls» and they make our food even more enjoyable. I know it sounds crazy, but I love eating a fresh stir fry from our new bowls. Props to Sur La Table for having quality products at a reasonable price.

Oh finally! Yay! I found my pastry rings!
They have pastry rings made in USA and another in France. I find the French made one better made than what was built here.
The French pastry ring have lips and feels sturdy that the American counterpart where it feels flimsy.
They also have a fine selection of Wilton items that you will not be able to find at your normal craft stores such as Michael’s.
Oh, they also have sphere ice molds.
Yes they prices could be a little lower but I can see that most of they stock specialty items in which are much harder to find anywhere in town but online.
I am willing to pay for such well made items.

I know that the price range showing is $$$ but there is something for everyone here in all the price ranges. If you’re looking for Christmas gifts, gifts in general, gadgets, a knife set, a milk frother, cutting board, a mandolin or just about anything you could think of for your kitchen, you should come here.
The store is small but it’s jam packed with all sorts of whimsy and things you never thought you would need. The sales associates are really friendly and greet you when you come in. It’s right down the street from Powells. We were walking back to our car and just happened to see this little store on the corner. I’m glad we stopped in.
I also thought it was cool that they have a little space in the back where there are culinary classes for the public. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come here to learn some tips as I’m not as savvy in the kitchen and could stand to learn some new tricks.

As a first time shopper in Oregon, the tax-​free thing went straight to my head. Enter Sur la Table. I’ve been bugging Boyfriend for a Cuisinart ice cream maker since last summer. I’d finally gotten used to the idea of spending $ 50 or so on it and waiting until June when the weather gets nice. Lo and behold, Sur La Table is having a sale on select Cuisinart appliances and the lime green color I got was already on clearance for $ 39.99 (or something).
Needless to say, I successfully managed to get my ice cream maker for about $ 30 and tax free. My god, tax-​free shopping is dangerous! Anyhow, very nice staff and deals aplenty to be found in the clearance sections.

Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until well blended. Pour into Sur la Table in the Pearl and watch all Hell break loose while espresso-​laden Danni bounces from small appliances to gadgets to cookie cutters in every shape imaginable to cupcake decorating kits to books and specialty foods.
Yield: One crazy shopping bag full of stuff I never knew I needed or wanted.
Repeat. Monthly. Because, friends, that was AWESOME.

I love this place, it simply is the ‘Sephora’ of cookware places located right in the heart of Pearl District! For the cook and dear of my life, this was on the list of ‘Where-​To-​Go’ shopping places on our latest trip down to Portland and once we walked in I could see her eyes move left and right of what to buy, at the same time her mind must have been spinning from all the excitement of being in a store like this!
When we saw this store on the corner of the street, my partner was looking in ‘awe’ while I was trying to find a parking spot. She is a big kid when it comes to stuff like this, it’s her new ‘toy’ store of collectables, or more like ‘what do I need, that I don’t have’! (Thank goodness it is not like Pokemon, where she’s gotta get’em all!). On this day they were testing out some machines in the back of the store and offering some free expresso’s. While I went to work drinking, she went to work shopping, and the staff here are very knowledgable and helpful. If they didn’t know, they would ask another sales associate that knew the answer, and also checked their inventory on the computer to make sure they had ‘it’ in stock.
If your lost in here, there is always someone to guide you on your way to what your looking for. And if your one who knows what your looking for, you may be sidetracked with the options you have here. They have a great selection of knives, where there are some cutting boards, and lemons for you to try for yourself how the knife feels in your hand. On this day I ventured to the back of the store, and saw many items that could be considered clearance for them (anything that ends in .99) that would receive an extra 20% off.
They also do cooking classes in this store, with a big kitchen setup on the left-​backside. I bet if I lived with my sweetie in Portland, and she didn’t come home, I would probably find her here, playing with everything, picking at the sales person’s mind on why this one is better than that one, and also using a lot of money… did I just hear it go down the toilet??? In all actuality I am benefitting from this tremendously, with her enthusiasm in cooking I can only reap the rewards of her creations and craft! This will be a return destination when we are back in this city, I just know it.
Even on the phone, the staff was super helpful, as my partner was looking online for a product, called, they even asked if we needed to have the item held overnight. now that is what I call service!
