Great food. Terrible business sense. If you want to wait 45+ minutes for an egg sandwich go for it. Yes it’s good. But it’s not that good. In 45 minutes I could: drive to new seasons, collect the ingredients used to adequately replicate the big egg, drive home, cook my big egg simulation sandwich, make coffee, and read the paper. And I’d probably have some spare time left. Also it would probably cost about the same if making breakfast for two. Sorry ladies but there is no reason why it takes 45 minutes to run a few orders. It takes me about a minute and a half to cook an egg. Not sure why you haven’t figured out how to boost throughout. But the fact is a handful of people including myself walked away due to the wait. You do the math…

Actually didn’t get to eat here, 45 minute wait and cash only, but the people are super nice and it smelled great.

The rumors are true… tried everything on their menu and it was great. We got there about 10 minutes after they opened, and there was no line. I thought we got lucky, but no, they were already working on several orders and people had gone elsewhere to wait haha. So we waited 40 minutes.

This breakfast cart really is what holds the whole damn pod together. Even with limited hours, insane waits, and tendency to sell out most items the Big Egg simply can not be ignored. Pretty much if I end up at this pod and they are open, and the wait is under 45 minutes then this is what I am having. Order anything. Pay whatever they demand, it is worth it. Go now.

I had the wrap and it was good, but not mind blowing. I agree with all the other reviews that it was the yogurt sauce that made this item just one notch above a typical egg burrito– oh and the potatoes were cooked well with some crisp to them. yummm. I don’t know if I’ll go back because of the wait. I was there at 9:40 and there were maybe 3 – 4 orders ahead of mine. I waited 20 minutes, which isn’t bad, but IF I showed up and was told 45 mins I doubt I would stay. As others have wondered, I too can’t really understand why it needs to take as long as it does. I found the service to be very friendly, and the price reasonable($ 7).

my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city but go to have what they offer. in typical portland snotty food style they do no substitutes or sides. you can get the breakfast burrito without potatoes but you can’t get them on the side. don’t even ask… they’ll snap at you. so moral of the story I’ve not had anything other than the magical egg mushroom sammy. but it is the best I’ve ever had. five star food, three star service. but they get sh*t done so fair nuff.

delicious food cart in an interesting eclectic neighborhood. came late morning, special sandwich already sold out, no line but 45 min to wait for your sandwich to be made. was worth the wait, had a arbor harbor(on ciabatta instead of brioche) and breakfast wrap with the added bacon. the heavily sauced egg, roasted potatoes like fries, Tillamook white cheddar, and house-made fire-roasted poblano salsa & yogurt-lime sauce was definitely satisfying. the combination of the arbor lodge was a typical umami bomb with excellent execution. over easy egg, balsamic caramelized onions, portobello mushrooms, herbed aioli, with nice olive oil, messy but delicious. bread from grand central bakery. last day sun dec 14th for the winter till feb 2015

My wife and I have apparently have grown affinity for bright yellow food carts while on our five day Portland trip. Two stops here(and two stops at Fried Egg I’m in Love). Yesterday we shared an Arbor Lodge sandwich. Today I got my own Arbor Lodge and my wife got the breakfast wrap. I tried her wrap and it was OK. Heavily sauced, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, mushrooms and cheese — you can add bacon or veggie sausage. We had bacon and it was thick and meaty. With all that said, I thought it was an average tasting wrap made with above average ingredients. It was good, but no where as good as the combination of flavors fused into the Arbor Lodge. Hand-crafted sandwiches mean a long wait time. It may not seem busy, but we waited 35 minutes this morning. That’s the drawback. It’s nestled on the street and has tented tables to keep you dry.

One of the best breakfasts burritos I have ever had! It was fresh, and the yogurt line sauce gives it so much body! I will definitely be back to try the French toast sandwich!

What a bummer. We arrived 2 hours before their closing time and they were out of everything except 1 sandwich. I was disappointed. We did not eat here. They also said it;s a 30 minute wait. I didn’t see anybody in line or waiting so I thought that was pretty long. I was looking forward to this food cart and we drove over just for this cart straight from the airport. I never tried their food so I can’t say anything, but I am sure it looks good. Wish we got to try it. For me the stars are for the running out of food and long wait, if they are that popular maybe they need to stock some more food?

«There’s probably about a 25 minute wait at this point,» they told me on Sunday morning at around 10:30AM. Wow. That’s a long wait at a food cart, and it’s a pretty good indication that the food must be pretty dang good. And ohmygawd it is! I tried to read the menu but never really got past the special of the day: over easy egg with sweet potato purée and sage spiced sausage and arugula. Holy crap it was good. I mean dumbfoundingly good. Velvety sweet potato and rich egg yolk running down your arm. The food really is quite amazing.

Good doesn’t even begin to describe how amazing the Big Egg’s breakfast sandwiches are; the«Arbor Lodge» is so damn tasty it’s practically painful to write about it without having one to devour with my face. It’s not cheap($ 8) but with grilled portobello mushrooms, balsamic caramelized onions and baby arugula… does it even matter? Note– There’s often a 10 – 15 minute wait, and after 10am they regularly sell out of the breakfast wrap, which I’m told is one of the finest breakfast burritos in town.

I felt a little naughty eating my Seasonal Sandwich as the perfectly cooked sunny yolk dribbled down my hand and lips, but it wasn’t until I had an oral orgasm from the meld of flavors — firm asparagus, salty ham, sweet creamy spread — that I knew The Big Egg had seduced me and left my insatiable appetite lusting for more.

THISPLACEISJUSTAWESOME! Every time I go there they are sold out on the sandwich I really want buuuuuuuttt my second choice is STILLREALLYGOOOD! The lady who works there is really nice and goes out of her way to make you feel special lol I know that sounds cheesy but she is hella nice. The coffee is really good and the tea it awesome and they dont charge for hot water refill. The last time I went here and when I was waiting for my order another lady came and was sooo bummed out that they were all sold out on the sandwiches and only had the burrito left but that was just a really good sign for me that this place is legit.

Yum! Egg and anything is yum! An egg sandwich is a sure thing! The steak and egg is a meaty sandwich on ciabatta bread with a sprig of arugula. It’s definitely not a sandwich to take lightly. The breakfast burrito is also very tasty. There is a tangy yogurt sauce that goes vey well with the crispy tortilla. The Portlander sandwich is more simpler than the other sandwiches, it’s more for the plain Jane sandwich eaters. It does have a very good mustard spread that makes the sandwich a little more unique. I don’t know if I would crave anything though. It is a great alternative to a sit down joint since the wait is not as long. Turn your Sunday brunch to a Sunday munch at the carts! Bonus: you can add meat to any of the sandwiches, including vegetarian sausages!

2nd time being here, has yet to disappoint. For starters, it’s on Mississippi Ave. which is my favorite area of Portland. Second, it’s situated in an area where there are a bunch of other food trucks. So if you’re crazy enough to want to try another truck or they aren’t open(the only negative about this place, random off days) then you have many options to choose from. Third, and most importantly, the food is awesome. Literally, everything on the menu is delicious. I’ve personally ordered both the Arbor Lodge and Portlander sandwiches, both are delectable. The Arbor Lodge is a bit tasty, in my opinion, the breakfast wrap isn’t half bad either. OH, and the wait is RIDICULOUS sometimes. So my biggest tip to those who want to try it, GETTHEREEARLY!

This little ray of sunshine came into my world on a foggy, overcast Portland morning. And like a newborn crying out for its breakfast, I embraced the crispy ciabatta roll full of grilled portobello mushrooms, arugala(rocket for those playing at home), and fried eggs they handed me and eagerly removed my gloves to take a bite of this steaming hot breakfast. Oh mama! You know you’re onto a good thing when your first bite of an egg roll leaves half the insides sliding over your hands at the other end of the roll and you desperately trying to lick up all the mess so you don’t waste one gooey, eggy mouthful. It was only $ 8 and took 5 minutes to deliver(I think I was probably one of the earliest orders for the day though). So if you’re a vego, the Arbor Lodge is the only roll worth ordering here. Arguably it is the only roll you can order but I think that’s the way I’d prefer it. That way all those carnivores out there can make friends with their bacon and I can continue to make sweet, sweet, friendly hugs with my egg and mushroom salad roll.

Outstanding breakfast sandwich. I had the Portlander which has an egg with vintage white cheddar cheese, chives and mustard on grilled brioche. It was a delight to consume and with each bite I grew sadder and sadder that the sandwich was coming to an end. Great coffee too. Went on a Saturday morning and the wait time wasn’t too long. I ordered right away and it took about 5 to 10 minutes for my order to be ready. Friendly customer service too.

Third time’s a charm. I finally was able to wake up early enough during my trip to get here and try it out after it was highly recommended to me by my friend. Located towards the Mississippi neighborhood, around Skidmore, this little truck is parked inside a small lot with other vendors. There’s tables around the area so you can eat there if you choose to. Though their menu is a bit small, everything sounded delicious. I had to go with the breakfast wrap though — which is a «grilled flour tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, grilled red potatoes, organic portobello mushrooms, and vintage white cheddar, with [their] house-made fire-roasted poblano salsa and yogurt-lime sauce.» For an extra dollar, I had them add bacon to it, so the total cost was $ 7(cash only by the way; they have an ATM in the lot). Dood. This burrito was amazeballs. I think it’s the yogurt-lime sauce that sets them apart from the other breakfast burritos I’ve tried. Service was… haha. I mean, the person taking my order was super nice, but the wait time, even though no one was in front of me to order, was 30 – 40 minutes. There were several people sitting down at the tables waiting for their orders. I didn’t mind waiting, so it wasn’t a big deal for me. I got there only 30 minutes after they opened(9am), and they already had tons of orders before me. I recommend placing your order then walk around the area and come back to get your food. Definitely come early because they will close early if they run out of food. It was so worth waking up early and trying out. You should check it out if you’re in the area!

We crossed over to N. Mississippi street away from the downtown area to get here and it was soooo worth it! The were open at 9am(we got there at 915 am) and they were already 6 deep in orders. Arbor Lodge sandwich($ 7.50) ciabatta roll, portabello mushrooms, arugula, herbed aioli, carmelized onions and an over-hard fried egg. quite possibly, the greatest breakfast sandwich ever to pass these lips. The shocker is, I loved this sandwich so much and it did not even have any hint of pork or meat product. Friendly for those lacto-ovo vegetarians even! I am afraid to try the other pork related fare as I may spontaneously combust in a sudden burst of food-centric glory. The food cart pod that the Big Egg is located has seating available which is convenient on a rainy day! Go here immediately!
