The Colony

We stayed here via AirBnB for a week. The owners were very friendly and even when I was a total dunce and took their key home with me (I mailed it back) they still gave me a 5-​star review on AirBnB. Nice folks, great location, and great place to stay!

DO NOT USE THIS SITE FOR A WEDDING!!! The colony was consistently poorly run in all of my interactions: waiting 3 months to give me the recommended caterers list, inconsistency responding to emails and failing to write the cost of the site when signing the contract because they «weren’t sure about the price.» Four months after signing the contract for our wedding date (and 4 months before the wedding) the colony broke the contract and kicked us out leaving using scrambling to find a new site late in the game. They told us were the only ones that they had to do this for but i have met at least one other person who had the same experience. This is not a reliable business.

We were married here at the end of August and we just can’t stop talking about what an amazing venue this is! The interior has a great mix of East Coast Colonial architecture with Portland artsy splashes (for instance the incredible reclaimed organ pipe chandelier and totem pole in the foyer). We keep saying it has an Ace Hotel vibe which seems to communicate it pretty well.
The facility is comprised of a variety of rooms of various sizes including a large ballroom, mirrored «gallery» room, a cozy «fireside» room with a fireplace, conference room, etc. There are two apartment suites upstairs and even a cool vintage Airstream trailer out back.
We worked with Jeremy in prep and Ivy on-​site the day of and for clean-​up. They were both awesome.

As a wedding planner I work at a lot of different venues and with a lot of different people. I found working at the Colony to be among the best experiences I have had. The staff were all very helpful, professional and above all, flexible. Everybody was willing to make whatever my clients wanted happen with no fuss and truly went above and beyond. The catering by Field Day Feasts was terrific as well. Definitely did not taste like «Catering». The space itself is very nice and well kept and has personality, but is enough of a blank slate to be appealing to couples who want to personalize it. I am definitely looking forward to working there again!
