Meld speakeasy clubbiness with striking 21st century interior design that is open, luxurious, yet comfortable and timeless, and you are in The Mend. Each time I’ve slipped past the non-descript security doors, the hosts have welcomed me with unsurpassed hospitality and warmth, like a long-time friend. No two visits are ever the same. The drink and food menus seem random. Sometimes, interesting people fill the space. Other times, I’ve felt like the only, and most important person in the world. Pet friendly and child averse, which I like.(I really don’t need to see little Jayden spitting up on mom’s shoulder or screaming when I’m trying to unwind.)

Unique, exclusive, and delicious! This is a wonderful find for those ‘foodies’ that hold atmosphere, taste and hospitality as the pillars to a great dining experience. It truly was an evening to remember for our entire party. I will recommend it to friends, but it is up to them to find the entrance — that’s half the fun!

First, it is hard to find, and it is obscenely expensive, but worth the price. There is no sign, and two locked doors guard the entrance. But this«invitation only» private club is an incredible experience. An unbelievable setting, great design and artwork, overlooking the Park Blocks, we enjoyed wonderful food, wine, and cocktails, topped by after dinner drinks by the fire pit on the second story deck as soft jazz wafted into the park. And you never know who you will see there. A magical place.

A fashionably hip yet tranquil northwest urban setting fit for a Scandinavian foreign film. Enter a non-descript Park Blocks doorway. Up three flights of impeccably designed wooden stairs, walls smoothed with glasslike Italian plaster. At the first landing notice a five foot wide sepia photo of a fly fisherman in full cast with the rushing river below him — floating suspended in time. Continue, at the top become mesmerized by projections of re-mastered color films splayed onto the wall before you. Round the corner and enter an expansive elegantly lit room with two massive round skylights expertly carved into the plaster above. Turn left, massive glass walls spill onto a roof top deck overlooking colossal bright green oak and maple trees in the Park blocks below. The moon, stars and big pink soaring above the skyline. An outdoor fire pit and lush architectural seating beckons. Soulful music beats in the background. It feels warm and inviting… Begin with sparkling glass of Champagne and appetizers of crab and shrimp tarragon salad nestled in endive and lettuce wraps, olive tapenade served over quince marmalade bruschetta, freshly caught Columbia River salmon tartar over cracked pepper biscuits and miniature wood fire grilled grass fed corn beef and organic Swiss cheese sandwiches served with tangerine mustard sauce. Dinner begins with fresh spicy large leaves of arugula with warm Oregon goat cheese and freshly cut Hood River pears accompanied by fresh baked French baguette from the Pearl Bakery. The main course; expertly seared and mildly seasoned wild king Salmon, mouthwatering and delicious. Accompanied by whipped parsnip purée and fresh steamed crisp asparagus spears and a glass of 2006EIEIO Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Finally a petite round of oozing mouton dark chocolate cake with boysenberry port sauce topped with a dollop of freshly whipped cream chased by a deliciously warm cup of chamomile, rose geranium, mint tea… Sublime…
