I’ve been going to Georgia for about a year. She’s amazing, I recommend her to anyone that will listen! She has taken my hair from brown to blonde to brown back to blonde again all the while maintaining the health of my hair with deep conditioning and split end treatments.
The new space is so cute and comfortable and still in a great location. I would definitely recommend the anyone looking for a quality salon experience.

Heidi is so amazing and made my transition to super short hair effortless. I have never gotten more compliments on my hair before and am absolutely loving it! After a few months, I recently went in to have it taken in even shorter (shaved side and back!), and Heidi had some great ideas to create a more unique hair cut based on my personality. She also gave me amazing highlights to bring out my natural gold and reds. I often watch other hairstylists at The National Beauty and everyone is so nice and amazingly talented, I definitely would recommend anyone looking for a new stylist to head to The National Beauty!

The best salon in Portland in my opinion. David has been cutting my hair for several years now and I couldn’t be happier. I get treated like royalty every time I walk into the salon, even if just saying hi and getting some product. Speaking of product the national has an amazing selection of the best brands. Great pricing as well. I have made the mistake of going to some others in Portland and always regret the decision. Do yourself a favor and visit the national beauty, it’s not just a haircut. It’s an experience!

David has been cutting my hair, and Heidi has been coloring my hair since I moved to the area over 3 years ago. My hair has never looked so good!!! Look no further… You won’t find a better, more professional, or friendlier hair salon.

Zach is amazing! He is so good that I make a special trip to Portland every few months just to get my hair cut. I have a lot of thick curly hair, which can be tricky to cut just right to avoid disaster (and I’ve had a few of those in my day), but Zach always gets it right. I leave his chair feeling exponentially more beautiful than when I sat down. If you’re looking for a new stylist or you have difficult hair, make an appointment with Zach! You’ll be so glad you did.

I’ve been seeing Ryan Smith for two years now, and every time I get a fantastic haircut! I enjoy the pampering and the new location is a larger trendy location with a view over the park and food carts. Ryan and any other of the stylists at The National Beauty are a breeze to schedule with; they utilize an online scheduling website that I find easier to use than most other stylists. Ryan Smith is in high demand so scheduling an appointment a few weeks/​months ahead is best.

Finding a new hairstylist after relocating is always a bit of a crapshoot. Julie is the second stylist I’ve visited in Portland and I totally lucked out. In just a few months, Julie managed to revive my lifeless color and cut – I’m receiving compliments on my hair for the first time in years. She is cool, attentive, and kind, sometimes texting me in advance to check on the color I want at my next appointment so she can have it available. My appointments start on time and Julie is a sweet perfectionist.
I’ve always left happy with every aspect of my hair, from bangs to blowout to bright blue streaks. It’s a pleasure visiting the salon, especially in its spacious new location. Be sure to book ahead – Julie is awesome and her schedule reflects that.

Julie has been doing my hair since I was born. Yep, I was born with a full head of hair and Julie was 10 years old and even at that age she had a knack for art, make-​up, hair, style, and all things pretty. Later she would do hair and make up for me and my friends before school dances. Now I see the work she does for weddings and it blows my mind. She loves what she does and it really shows.
In the salon, she takes her time washing my hair and massaging my scalp and takes my requests very seriously when I tell her not to take too much off. She never cuts corners and does a mean blow-​out. She also has an eye for design and really knows what will work with your face-​shape and what won’t. Last time Julie styled my hair I turned a few heads which made my day.
Also The National Beauty is very clean and full of light. Love the space. Heidi always smiles and says hi to me and the rest of the team is really nice too.

I’ve only recently started going to Julie at National Beauty, but she is great! My beloved hairstylist moved out of state and for about a year I settled with someone I didn’t really like. Finally a friend recommended Julie as someone who knew how to cut bangs! My stylist was always messing up my bangs. Julie took a look and explained what was being done wrong, fixed it, and has continued to be amazing! Highly recommend!

Their new location and salon has a much better atmosphere and is very comfortable while still feeling professional and classy.
I have been getting my hair cut by Georgia for about a year and she exceeds my expectations every time. Highly recommend. She is good at taking over if I’m not sure what I want and also very detail oriented if I give her specifics.
All in all, I take the drive from Vancouver to see her and am not disappointed.

Ryan Smith is great. His haircuts are always perfect, and he’s fun to chat with. The salon is great, too. Lots of natural light. A nice modern feel. My favorite place to get a haircut. One tip: book ahead online.

I started with Julie Brown when she started at National Beauty over 4 years ago. She has handled my hair from very short to mid-​length after I have taken a year to grow it out. Julie is super!

I’ve been coming to see Zach for my haircuts for more than a year. I love how he pays attention to the details, and also the way my hair grows out so nicely until my next cut. He knows how to work with different types of hair, and he has really learned how my hair acts and how it grows. I’ve always struggled to find someone who could consistently cut my hair well, and now I’ve found him! I also think he’s very personable and fun to talk to, so my partner and I have kept coming back! (We both come to Zach)
Now they have moved into a new location and the new salon is really nice!
I would definitely recommend seeing Zach for men’s cuts (or even for women! …I’m a man, but I’ve seen some of his female clients leave before me looking fabulous… Seriously)

I came in to National Beauty to get my hair colored and was greeted by some great people and a very serene space. I got my favorite tea handed to me and was pampered to the fullest. This space is so quaint and comforting, I absolutely recommend getting any of your hair services done here!

My husband and I got married July 2015. I planned it in two weeks. I had read good reviews on this place and called them up. I told Zach my situation, knowing it was a long shot to be able to do something like this in two weeks time. HE WAS AMAZING!!! He got a run-​through, dye, and cut. He was able to match the extensions and pin them in. My hair looked fantastic! He is extremely friendly and very skilled. I don’t speak hair, but he was able to take my few words and pictures and turn it into exactly what I wanted.
I have gone back for several hair cuts and another color and he has done fantastic with both. I recommend knowing that when others catch on, he will be even harder to get appointments with, but he is worth it!

Love, love, love this place! Julie Senders is the best stylist ever. I will never see anyone else.

The original space above Johnny Sole was amazing so when I was told they were moving several blocks away I was excited to see what would come next.
When I walked in for my first cut since the move to the new space I was literally blown away. The build out is incredible & the parking is still convenient as it ever was.
If you are searching for a stylist I highly recommend Ryan Smith’s chair. His skills with a set of shears are second to none. Before Ryan I would rarely receive compliments on my haircut. Now I have other stylists asking who cuts my hair.

There’s no one better at hair and make up than Jodi Vaughn. She’s been doing my hair for years; she did my hair and make up for my wedding and wedding party, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else.
She is a true master of hair color — whether you want electric green or the natural honey blonde highlights of an innocent toddler, Jodi does it all.
