Mediocre at best, but somehow satisfying. Had the Angel Hair Pomodoro. Was craving red sauce. It was good.

We love this place and come here every time we are in town. Unfortunately last night was disappointing. The hostesses gave our table to the wrong people. When we pointed it out they tried to tell us we were wrong. I pointed out that I received the text as well as my husband heard my name. Long blonde hair actually told me their computer hadn’t texted me yet. I was standing there looking at the text. Anyway, long story shorter, Blondie glared at me all evening whenever she went by to count tables. Very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. The customer is always right is dead at this place.

The Old Spaghetti Factory is as consistent as it gets. We’ve been to the San Jose, Honolulu and Portland restaurants and the food, portions and ambiance is the same –and that’s a good thing! It’s good to find a familiar, reliable place to eat. I always order the PotPourri because I love the Mizithra cheese(in reasonable amounts).Fyi– they sell the cheese now! Keep in mind that this is chain restaurant quality italian food and you’ll be ok– expect anything more and you might be disappointed. So that means the house salad looks like the bagged iceberg mix from Costco(still crisp and refreshing) and the meatballs are sometimes slightly oversalted and occasionally the pasta is overcooked. Sometimes. Portland OSF is my new fave for the size of the restaurant and the location– near the water with a great view and pretty outdoor setting. Staff was friendly, efficient and no waiting on a Friday evening.

Let me tell you a story… I was drug into the Tanasborne location long ago with a group and it was so gross… they used the nastiest wine imaginable to make their marinara and the food was cooked improperly. So I have not even attempted to eat at a location in over a decade. My husband was craving pasta the other night and we wanted takeout. After some debate we said oh why not. I wanted to eat there the next day! I ordered their crab ravioli which is amazing. Also, the Tuscan cheese bread is soooooooo good! I have yet to go in the restaurant but their takeout is amazing!

Well, to be honest this experience was a bit of a disappointment but I tried hard to fight it. I really expected a super nice dinner for a date night. We have been to other locations in which we even took ALL the kids :) and had a lovely time! Just the two of us here the other night and it was not as great. We sat upstairs in the lounge which is just so nice. The atmosphere is wonderful. The drinks disappoint, but that is our fault, we have ordered drinks at the other location also and they just aren’t good. Our long Islands were like watery lemonade at both places. My husband was real disappointed in his sausage ravioli which is a 15 $ meal and you get 3 $ worth of pasta, pretty sad. My dinner was good but not enough spaghetti sauce and was nearly room temp. I have a hard time agreeing that a place like this should serve salad out of a bag vs fresh salad. I think they can do better in this areal! The bus boy came along and when clearing our table just grabbed our drinks and we actually were not done with them, was kind of odd. Our server did a fine job, we just wanted a little more and will try elsewhere for pasta next time.

Unilocalers — This is intended to be the BEST review I have ever written in my entire life, please read all the way to the end. Spaghetti Factory in downtown Portland(on Bancroft) ROCKS. Five stars ALLTHEWAY! GREAT food! GREAT service! GREAT parking! GREAT atmosphere! BEAUTIFUL building! Everything about this place is TODIEFORAWESOME. And for starters I have ALWAYS felt this way about this place — but last night Spaghetti Factory out did even yourself. All about last night: For my friend’s 55th birthday(3÷19÷2016) I organized a dinner, not just any dinner but a VERYSPECIAL dinner. You see, he has been going through some very tough times over the past seven years dealing with unemployment, etc. So, twenty-six of his friends came from far and wide — as far south as San Francisco and as far north as Seattle to show our support, show him a wonderful night, and lift him up. I ordered a very special cake(sugar free) from a local bakery. I was on the phone with the bakery almost every single day with the details for a least two weeks. Spaghetti Factory said we could bring a cake(at NO cost — some places charge a serving fee for $ 10-$ 20 to bring a cake into their establishment). One friend picked me up at the airport(I used to live here) and we went to pick up the cake. We arrived early to Spaghetti Factory and they put the cake in their refrigerator before anyone else arrived. Next, everyone shows up and we had REALLYGREAT drinks in the MOSTAWESOME bar(upstairs). Excellent seating, very spacious, great service, great lighting. Then Spaghetti Factory sat us at a table upstairs where we had a beautiful view of the river. I mean, you can not get any better than this. We all ordered and had a WONDERFUL dinner. Salad was PERFECT — I got the creamy pesto dressing that I absolutely love. I had the gluten free pasta. LOVED dinner. Every single thing about the night, ABSOLUTELY perfect. Then, came time for the cake. DADADADA — [theme music from Jaws here] So, they bring up the cake and it is the wrong one. I told our server, «Oops — wrong cake». Then he asked me, «Um, Was your cake the YELLOW one?» I said, «Yeah.» He says, «Uh … come on down, the manager wants to talk to you.» So I go down to the kitchen and the manager, Zach, is there and he shows me the cake. Someone had bumped it in the kitchen and I’m not exactly sure what happened after that but it looked like it had been through quite a bit of turbulence. The whole thing was a complete disaster. You could still see the yellow frosting but the top and bottom were broken and parts of the quarter sheet double layer with Bavarian crème cake were upside down. I just looked at it, gobble-ly gook. I was completely speechless. By the way, one friend and I had actually spent part of the day building this LEGO airplane that we had put in the middle of the cake. The plane looked like it had crash landed on an earthquake site. I’m wondering how I am going to break this news to the whole party. Here’s where Spaghetti Factory’s HEART saved the day — SPAGHETTIFACTORYCOMPEDUSTHEENTIREMEAL(FOREVERYONE — INCLUDINGDRINKS) ANDOFFEREDTOCOVERTHECOSTOFTHECAKE. WOW. Talk about LOVE, CUSTOMERSERVICE, and CUSTOMERLOYALTY. You can not get any better than that. When I told our party(which was going to be everyone pays their own way) that Spaghetti Factory had offered to COMPUSTHEENTIREMEAL you could hear everyone gasp. Really? Like WHODOESTHAT??? We left a good tip. So this is a message from me to the Spaghetti Factory: Dear Spaghetti Factory Portland, THANKYOU for your KINDNESS, THANKYOU for your EXCELLENTFOOD, STAFF, SERVICE, MANAGEMENT. THANKYOU for your BEAUTIFULSOUL. Because really, when people go to Spaghetti Factory(especially the beautiful Bancroft location) it is not just a meal — it is an experience, it is special, it is an event. The day becomes more than any ordinary day because this place is simply MAGICAL. And so(ONCEAGAIN) I had the TIMEOFMYLIFE at Spaghetti Factory. It was not as I had planned it to be — this was a VERY special and important dinner for my friend — but BETTER than I could have ever planned it to be. And THANKYOU, Spaghetti Factory, for offering to comp me for the cake(with my receipt). I am not going to come back with my receipt today BUT I will be back to Spaghetti Factory every single time I am there I feel the LOVE, and I LOVE the food. THANKYOUAND I LOVEYOU!!! XOXOXOXOX Rose

This was my second time here, whenever I come down to Oregon to visit my cousins my aunt always brings us down here. The first thing you notice as you walk into the restaurant is the absurdly lavish decorations. They have these dope chairs in the lobby with cool head designs engraved in the wood. Comfy chairs are abundant. Unlimited bread is awesome, and this is a great place for families. Unfortunately their portions aren’t quite as big as they used to be but the food is still fairly excellent. 5⁄7 would recommend their blackberry pomegranate long island ice tea. There’s also a beautiful view of the waterfront.

I always forget how much I love this place. It’s old school Portland, been here forever(though not always surrounded by the annoying South Waterfront), hasn’t really changed much over the years, and is just all around good for all. The interior is dark wood and beautiful glass, low lighting(not too low), and during the day has a great view overlooking the river. I also love the bar that’s upstairs, it has a great feel to it. The food isn’t the greatest, if someone asked me where to get great Italian food this is not where I’d send them, but that’s not to say it’s bad either. It’s at that happy medium where it’s fine and the old school ambience makes up for the rest. The prices are reasonable, not too high, and the portions are fine. The bread loaf at the beginning is something to look forward to, and the cheesy bread. Mmm, carbs. They have something for everyone so bring the whole family. The staff can be hit or miss. I’ve had dinner up at the bar and found the staff to be incredibly friendly and engaging, then the next time I ate in the dining room and couldn’t get the attention of a single staff member for long periods of time. I’m not sure why not since they were everywhere, just not actually helping any customers. Most of the time it falls somewhere in the middle. I give it a bump up to 4-stars for the nostalgia and the look, or maybe that just plays into the nostalgia. It may not be the best food in Portland but I hope the restaurant will always be a part of this city. Love you OSF, don’t ever change.

I have been going here since I was a kid. Nothing has changed… Menu has gotten a bit more expensive and portions have gotten a smidgen smaller, but over all it’s the same consistently good basic Italian food we all know and love. Never been? This is a generic American Italian restaurant. There isn’t really anything authentic about it, but it’s good, VERY family friendly and I always know what I am going to get(Manager’s special with Mithra Cheese and meat sauce). It is one of the few places you get a FULLMEAL… bread, salad, a main dish and dessert(ice cream)… are all included with your meal, for around $ 15! Kids meals are great too and come with many options, from basic buttered noodles to spaghetti and mac and cheese.

Today I had the Garlic Shrimp Capellini. It’s a scampi style dish with shrimp served over angle hair pasta prepared with butter, shallots, and garlic. Also garnished with Romano cheese. But instead of the regular marinara sauce, I took Alfredo. I’d say it was pretty good! But it just seemed like another typical spaghetti place. Nothing special, except for the building itself. Even though it isn’t really my style, it’s a very nice 2 floored restaurant. Most of the place is supper dim, but towards the end of the building are these beautiful large windows, which was pretty cool. It’s a three course meal: salad/soup & fresh bread. Main course, and a choice of 3 different ice cream flavors for dessert. But they do have some cakes. Overall, service was great. Food was okay. Atmosphere for me was okay, but it all depends on who you are and what you like. Would I come here again? Maybe for their Spumoni Ice Cream.

Oh, Old Spaghetti Factory. How you remind me of my high school field trips where we would pack into your St. Louis location and marvel at your stained glass and indoor trolleys. Now living in Portland, we decided it was time to try your flagship location. The parking lot is massive and the building is huge, with enough seating for an army. The interior is also neat, with its typical stained glass, trolley, neat lights, and dark woodwork. This location also is nice being right along the Willamette River, though we thought the view was just ok. For Italian food, we thought it was just average. I had the ½ & ½ of spaghetti & cheese ravioli — it was quite typical. My wife had the lasagna, which was pretty good though not very hot. The entrees also come with salads(iceberg lettuce…) and bread(sourdough that was just… fine). The meals also finish off with a scoop of ice cream — I had spumoni and the wife had vanilla. My wife also enjoyed her bottomless raspberry lemonade, and I thought bottomless iced tea for $ 1 was a good deal. All in all, the experience was ok. But I doubt we’ll be returning, simply because there is much better Italian food in town for not a whole lot difference in price.

I miss the original location in old town. It was genuinely odd and looked like someone decided to open a restaurant then ran out of money to furnish it instead using odds and ends from here and there. I loved the silent films they showed in the lobby… The Bancroft location is a favorite today because of the park-like setting. The menu hasn’t changed significantly in years. It’s comforting that way somehow. They have a very good system and can handle a huge crowd efficiently. The food is consistently satisfying. The drinks in the bar are actually better than the restaurant for some reason.

Every time we come, we come intentionally before the rush hours. We have kids so try avoiding busy times. We always have a wait despite the place being empty. The waiting area is always full too but no one is dining. Empty tables everywhere. Today, its 3:30 and we have a 30 minute wait. The place is again, empty. Understaffed constantly. The food is always good however, and our waitress was great.

I love the location of this place more than anything. It is in a charming community along the riverfront. You can be casual or dress it up. I got the Spinach & Cheese Ravioli. It really could not have been better, however I asked for the red marinara sauce to be replaced with Alfredo sauce which made the dish way to creamy. My mistake! I also tried the Crab Ravioli and it was also delicious. The crab seemed very fresh. They put a pesto Alfredo on top, next time I would ask for extra. We also shared the garlic bread appetizer. The bread felt a little cheap but the flavor or the cheese they used was wonderful. I would definitely get the garlic bread again. The soup was also great. My waitress was kind, the wait wasn’t very long when we went around 4 pm and we didn’t have to wait very long for our food. I wouldn’t go here if I was in a rush, though.

Arrived here at 6:30 with three kids in tow, the parking lot was packed, so we knew it would most likely take awhile to be seated. The hostess told us it would be about a 30 minute wait, so you you can imagine our surprise when they texted us less than 5 minutes later informing us a table had opened up. We arrived at our table and almost immeditely were greeted by our servers, one was in training, they couldn’t have been more polite and respectful of us and the children. There is a man there who can make almost anything you can imagine out of balloons, so of course our three girls took advantage. The service was quick and we were exceptionally pleased with how well everything went. We will definitely be returning.

Two weeks ago we made a reservation for 6 for our family for a birthday luncheon at the downtown Old Spaghetti Factory. It was a weekday at 1:15 and the restaurant was not particularly busy. What could have been a wonderful celebration was marred by poor service. The food was OK but what transpired with the service we have not forgotten. First of all, we had ordered a birthday cake ahead of time from the restaurant to be given to the birthday boy at the end of the meal. They delivered a cake as promised with a candle but the candle was not lit. When we mentioned that to the server, there was no attempt to go back to the kitchen and get a lighter. So we sang«Happy Birthday» without blowing out the candle. In hindsight, it’s actually kind of humorous but we were irritated at the time. But that was just one of several problems with the meal that afternoon. Here’s a list of some others: 1. Water was not delivered until the end of the meal despite the fact that we asked for it 3 times and some of us had not ordered another kind of drink. 2. One person’s meal was not brought out until most of the others in the party had finished theirs. 3. Another person ordered a «senior meal» but the waiter did not seem to know what was included with it so some items were missing. 4. Another of our party ordered coffee with cream and sugar but the cream was never delivered. We have been to this restaurant several times before but now we are reluctant to return. A word to the wise: If you’re celebrating a birthday at the Old Spaghetti Factory, bring your own lighter!

I am an OSF fan. I have been here a handful of times growing up, and I am rarely disappointed. Recently took my family(three kids under 8) to OSF on the river for lunch after a Disney on Ice performance. We were seated within 15 minutes with kids menus, crayons, and drinks. Server was friendly, food was good, price was just right. I have occasionally tried to be adventurous and order different dishes when I come to OSF, but invariably I am most pleased with the best dish on the menu — the Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter pasta. I could eat it by the 5-gallon bucket, it’s that good. Go there. Eat the Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter. It’s so good. No, really — SO good!

Eat here once in a while when we are in Portland. Like the décor. The food and service has always been good. The prices are reasonable. Things don’t always go right and its how a negative situation is handled that counts. The crust of one of our Ruebens was slightly burnt. The waiter got the maitre d’ who was pleasant and replaced the Rueben in a timely manner. We were not charged for Rueben.

Original Location of Old Spaghetti Factory!(Before It Went«Starbucks» On The World!) :D SITREP And actually, I believe OSF predates Starbucks! And if you wonder«Why?» I mention Portland’s awesome OSF and Seattle’s amazing Starbucks in the same breath, it’s because they have something in common: people who like to «bitch», and moan, and ridicule and tear down these so-called institutions because they are successful and have a solid business plan. THESETUP The reality is, they both started out as a «Ma & Pa» operation with just one location before what they did became successful and franchisable, and hence the success that other individuals were passionate to duplicate. THEFOOD The dining menu changes very infrequently, but if there IS a new addition(such as seasonal raviolis, drinks, etc.) it’s because the evolution of the local community contributes to the menu’s input. For me the standards are what I love and include a Manager’s special of Mizithra and Mushroom sauce. Sometimes I go for the spicy Vesuvius spaghetti and spicy sausage platter which is always yummy. And the trusty side salad and sourdough bread with garlic butter always please me as much as the free scoop of vanilla ice cream at the end. For right around $ 10-$ 12, you really can’t beat the price for dinner. THELOWDOWN I love me some spaghetti!

Hey let’s go to the Old Spagh… wait what did you say? If you had asked me to go here yesterday I would have laughed at you. Today I’d be embarrassed I didn’t go with you. Started by old Gus Dussin, this is still a family owned company that operates throughout North America, but started right here in Portland and the headquarters are still here. A lot of locals don’t even know that. It has the same values as when they started, keep it affordable, and keep it family oriented. I can respect that very easily. So, this story starts with me stuck in heavy traffic, tired, hot, and sick of being in the car. I got trapped in the South Waterfront area and when I turned down Bancroft I saw this place. Thought to myself, why the heck not. I haven’t been to one of these places in 10 years. They are known for their antique heavy design, but it blew me away. Big heavy doors, dark wood interior, great big lamps hanging down, and a stairway to the lounge with a beautiful lookout over the river. It was like entering the offices of John Gotti’s lawyers!!! Service took me by surprise. Very very nice waitress who went over the Happy Hour menu with me and made a great suggestion of the toasted ravioli with marinara. I was amazed how tasty it was. Really homestyle, and some love put into the sauce. An iced tea cooled me down, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say the drink specials with classic cocktails and their own concoctions didn’t tempt me. I got out of there for $ 8 by the skin of my teeth! Only negative where it loses points is the fact that there is no Wi-Fi at all. Hard to believe in this day and age, especially in a city like Portland. They should know better and do better on this point. It’s just totally silly not to offer it. There isn’t a restaurant of their stature anywhere in this city that would dare do this, so I suggest they get on board and quick. It’s a little bit insulting, but perhaps they have their reasons. However I must stress that this did not take away from my experience for the most part. Overall I left feeling very inspired and I was so impressed with the level of care and service. They obviously have a stellar training program, and emphasize care of their customers, not the turning of tables. I think old Gus would be proud of what he and his family have achieved. They’re a part of Portland history and rightly so. I will be back much sooner than 10 years for sure!!!

…Wow. Probably the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I’m not exaggerating. This is gonna be a story, be prepared. I decided to come here with my family for my birthday dinner. Didn’t want anything too extravagant, and me and my dad had been wanting to try coming here for a while, so I figured, why not? It was really busy when we got there, but the hostess assured us it would be ten minutes or so. We were seated(my mom, dad and myself) but we were waiting on my sister and brother-in-law to get there so we just told our waitress(who was new… ugh. not her fault though, I guess) that we would just get some waters and some garlic bread so we have something to snack on. The rest of our party arrived. We ordered and everything, and my sister, brother in law and my mom ordered a couple drinks. One of them being some alcoholic milkshake(can’t remember the name of it). So, after about 15 or 20 minutes, we STILL have an empty bread plate, empty water glasses, and no other drinks. So we finally grab someone and ask about it, and they said they’d get them for us. They bring us the drinks and they had obviously been sitting for probably ten minutes. The milkshake(with whipped cream) was totally melted and dripping all over the glass, and half the ice in the other drinks was melted. Wtf? So we sent the milkshake one back and got a fresh one. ANOTHER20 or 30 minutes goes by, and we still don’t even have our salads or soups. Oh, and by the way, we hadn’t seen OUR server since we FIRST ordered our food. My dad was about to blow a gasket, so he went and spoke to the manager about everything we had just experienced. So he apologized and went and grabbed our soup and salads for us. He was professional and apologetic, but here’s a kicker. He asked my dad if he wanted another drink(one of those cotton candy limeade ones) and my dad said, sure, why not!(Angling to get a free drink after our obvious troubles) and the manager goes, «so, these are actually not re-fillable, so it would be full price for a refill. Is that okay?» And my dad just goes, «uhh… no. thanks.» Couldn’t even give us ONE free drink? Really? So after we sit for another… 10 or 15 minutes, I’d say; we FINALLY get our actual food(STILL haven’t seen our original server). My brother-in-laws was awful. He couldn’t even eat any of it. And whaddya know! Here comes our server who was no where to be found, and she goes«how is everything?»(Seriously? You’re hilarious.) And we explained that his dish was terrible and she apologized and said she would go ask the manager to take it off the bill. So he comes around and asks about it and he explained and he said he would take it off the bill. And then said that since we have had such a poor experience we could get a free dessert and everyone said, «well we have cake at home already»(since it’s my birthday) and I just told him I would take a mousse cake to go. Why waste that chance to get something free??? After THAT kind of service? Anyway. The restaurant itself was really nice. I really enjoyed the style of the building. The inside was really enjoyable too. Honestly, my food was good. I got the mizithra cheese and browned butter pasta classic. It was simple, and that is how I like things. But of course, I couldn’t even eat it because I had filled up on bread since the food took so damn long. Overall, our experience wasn’t even CLOSE to worth the… probably 100 bucks(give or take a few). Really disappointing. To be honest, I would have just walked out. And I feel awful that my parents wasted a bunch of money for that kind of crap. But my mom is too honest, and paid, ANDEVENLEFT the server a tip. She really wasn’t attentive at all. Even for a new kid… Like, if you have NORESTAURANT experience WHATSOEVER… wtf are you doing working here? at the busiest time? This place is run by rejects apparently. So much for a nice birthday dinner with my family, LOL.

Old Spaghetti Factory feels more like Cafeteria food than a restaurant. Yes, interior is beautiful and nostalgic Yes, prices are reasonable, $ 9 – 13 for a full course meal. the meals include bread(ok), salad(quite generic and not particular tasty), soup was minestrone(didn’t try since i don’t like) i tried the sampler dish with 4 of their pasta sauces. they were just ok! i think i’d prefer making this at home as none of them really stood out. ice cream was meh. Price and value is what’s going on here, high quality italian food? nope

Our family hadn’t been here since summer but it was a family favorite. Great decorations and the river view is incredible. They have raised their prices and drinks are no longer included in their meal deal. Also the waitress was cranky and not attentive. Its still a fun spot to visit but not worth the price. Don’t go for a value meal. Let’s face it… the food is meh!!!

This is my favorite spaghetti factory in Portland. It is right on the shore line of the Willamette in a very nice area. We got seated in a great spot with a beautiful view of the river. The food here is always excellent. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce and a sausage. My girlfriend got the spinach tortellini. They were both fairly large portions. The meals are also very inexpensive. I think both were around 12 dollars each. All entrees come with a salad or soup to start, unlimited bread, and ice cream. Overall this is a very good place to eat with either a group or just two. The meals are cheap, taste great, and the ambience is very inviting. If you’re going to go to a Spaghetti Factory in Portland this is my recommendation.

Oh spaghetti factory… cheap Italian meals that are nothing to write home about, other than the fact that they are cheap and come with ice cream. There’s nothing wrong with that. Its a great place for families. Spaghetti factory meals are consistent and you always know exactly what you are getting. Solid 3 stars all the time. This location though, is the chain’s flagship restaurant. Its huge and has office space in the building. The building itself is in a great water front location with beautiful views of the river and very fancy décor inside that doesn’t quite match the elegance of the food. If you like spaghetti factory at home, you have to stop in if you are visiting. Its quite an experience eating spaghetti factory food in such an amazing setting. Recommended.

Nice location. Bathroom subpar. Gaps big enough to make you close your eyes and pretend your«stall neighbor» cannot really see your bare rear end. I would have included a picture but that would have been a tad bit inappropriate. Mostly I didn’t want to end up on the news as the Spaghetti Factory pervert. Nice touch of texting you when your table is ready. Waiter was average. Not genuinely friendly but not unfriendly. Seems he may be overloaded or distracted. He may just dislike serving bad food. The food. I will not eat here again. We had coupons for free meals and had to pay for our iced teas. This felt like too much for the meal we were served. My boyfriend’s chicken Caesar salad had spongy chicken and a «twangy yes twangy bitter dressing» drowning the romaine lettuce. I had a side of broccoli that was unevenly heated. The baked chicken breast looked like it came from a robin instead of a chicken. It was luke warm and my side salad was all iceberg. One star because zero is not an option.
