The elk burger is sure enough delicious, but with bad aftertaste potential from less than friendly service. With only two idol patrons at the bar, my friend and I did not have our orders taken after several minutes of waiting, until coming to the bar to order. We were then asked to return our menus to our table. There is also a dish bin conveniently located for customers to bus their own tables and a tipping option before the food is prepared…

Nice place, happy hour food was very good, bar tender was friendly. Great selection of brews, hits all the key elements for a bar/pub.

I came here trying to order food at midnight, knowing they don’t close until 2. I was the only person in the bar other than a couple sitting at the bar who appeared to work there. I stood there for 5 minutes and nobody came out from the back area to help me until the guy sitting at the bar called for someone, then a guy came out who was just in the middle of doing dishes and asked how he could help me. I told him nvm and decided to take my business elsewhere, never returning to this place. I can’t believe what passes in this city as acceptable customer service.

Great Elk Burger! My first time having elk and it was to die for, I will be back if possible. The fries were really fresh cut from the potato with the skins on and there was malt vinegar on the condiment table, that is a must for fries in my book.

The bartender is amazing! He can pour a mean drink, and the food knocked off my fuzzy socks.

I go here(and bring friends here) just for the Elk Burger. Seriously, it’s amazing. If you’ve had elk before, go here to have truly delicious elk. If you’ve never had elk, go here and don’t ever bother trying it anywhere else. All of their meats are local and humanely raised and ingredients are local and boy, can you taste it. Local craft beer too. Pretty sure their Elk Burger is part of Happy Hour deals too! A star off because Wednesday night«comedy» is atrocious. A bunch of hipsters ragging on mundane, trivial stuff and making jokes that can be pretty offensive and awkward. Also, another star off because the bartender can be less than friendly. I’m never quite sure if I’m supposed to go up and order at the bar or if it’s table service. It’s like if you sit long enough, they’ll come over in the typical Portland annoyed-in-a-passive-aggressive-way-but-I-would-never-tell-you style to serve you but definitely would have preferred if you went up to the counter. I guess in a way, between the moody wait staff but delicious, humanely locally raised livestock, the Ranger Station is absolutely quintessential Portland. You be the judge if that deserves it one more star or not.

My favorite place to get a casual drink with great live music. It’s a great neighborhood spot with a great vibe and really good food. Everyone that works here is extremely accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend this spot… Kelsy is amazing if you get her as a bartender

This place is the bomb for beer, whiskey, and burgers. Logger fries with snaked pork, picked jalapeño, and barbecue. Crazy yum! Small and really friendly neighborhood pub sitting reminiscing with my old friend. All the meat are house smoked. Okay, the bartender was cute ;) Check it out!

This place is an average restaurant bar.(I wouldn’t call it a gastropub.) The prices and were fair and the staff were nice, but there were some things that prevented me from giving it a 4 star review. First, it didn’t seem like the food preparation was that great, since our table got a few rounds of tacos and a burger but it was all lukewarm. Second, the live music was too loud to be able to talk and it was too hillbilly sounding to understand the singing. They should have options for quieter tables. I don’t hate this place, i just have no reason to go back when there are better options nearby, just check Unilocal

Since its inception last year, the Ranger Station consistently cranks out delicious food and an enjoyable atmosphere. Check out their smoked pork sammie with polenta. They make most items from scratch which sets them a cut above. Good live music too!

I came here earlier in the week for beer and music. I’m from Oakland but the people working here made me feel right at home. The Ranger Station has a very inviting atmosphere and good priced beer. Three groups/bands were playing that night: Yur Daddy(Jayman), Seth Altshuler and Each Both. All very awesome musicians. Come here if you want a mellow night and good live music. I’m definitely coming back when I’m in Portland.

Not really a «gastropub». More of a dive bar with some boozie«cocktails» and mediocre, severely overpriced food. Way better food(especially for that price) a few blocks to the north or to the west.

Let’s get down to it. Way too overpriced, even during happy hour. Way too many bars in pdx with better happy hours than this. Here’s the thing, they throw the usual Pbr/Rainier at you for cheap. I look for cocktail deals which plenty of places have. I’m not interested in cheap crappy drinks like everyone has. Drinks were good. Fries and two drinks, 21.00. Way too much competition for my dollar. Sorry guys. This is supposed to be happy hour. There’s no way I’d pay regular prices when I can go over to The Woodsman and get way bigger portions and a more extensive cocktail list for the same money, and The Woodsman is known to be a bit pricey. There was no music when we went but I only go to see music I want to, and generally don’t like it if some is already there. I go to converse. I just don’t see with all the competition out there, what would bring me back to this place.

The live music and attractive atmosphere bring you in, but the disappointing food and poorly run kitchen make it hard to like the place. Twice, the kitchen and/or cook weren’t ready to serve. The first visit was a 45 minute wait for bland food with stale bread. It looked like they were still prepping the kitchen, an hour after they opened. The second time sealed the deal. Once the cook finally got there, I regretted coming in. The elk burger was a waste of elk meat. Bland and overcooked. I really want to like this place, what with the live music, beautiful design and drink selection(mixed drinks are tasty and they have a good beer selection), but the food and weirdly unprepared kitchen puts me off. It’s a good place to go if you’ve already eaten.

It was not as cozy as I had hoped for. It was fairly empty, all the seats, even the booths, are hard wood, and two big TVs were showing crazy downhill mountain biking. The bacon brussels and the pulled pork sandwich were great, and the elk burger was okay, but overcooked(well done when I asked for medium rare) and kind of boring. However, they were serving real dinner at 11pm, so they do get some bonus points.

The rustic décor is clean, inviting, and makes for a comfy cozy place to meet with friends. I’ve seen a few live shows here, open mic on wed, acoustics are awesome so it’s a perfect intimate venue. Love this place(food is great too)!

More than just a beautiful logo. Their menu is fresh and delicious, too. The outdoor theme is continued inside with natural materials and topo maps the layout still feels a little awkward inside, but it’s better than the last place that occupied the space. I was glad to see a patio area. The menu descriptions left a lot to the imagination, and the kitchen didn’t disappoint. We tried a few of the mainstays(shrimp and grits were incredible) as well as the specials. The specials featured some fresh, local ingredients and were the real stand outs. Wide selection of local beers to choose from. Open mic in Wednesday’s. Friendly staff(had a nice chat with the chef about the mushrooms). I’ll be back.
