Yikes, looks like the aforementioned ghost-town location took a turn for the worse… I noticed a «For Lease» sign on the window on my Max ride home. (insert debbie downer noise HERE)

I went to Three Lions Bakery for lunch on a Sunday. Food: I ordered a half sandwich and a had a choice for a side, pasta salad, potato salad, fruit, green salad, mushroom soup or the soup du jour. I decided on the mushroom soup, which was Hungarian. Oh, the sandwich was a roast beef on Sour Dough with cheese, mushrooms & mayo. And a sparkling water to drink, cause I like to spend money(not really). I loved the soup because it had lots and lots of dill in it. It was the first time I had dill in a mushroom soup. And it was not as salty as I expected it to be, so that was also very nice. The sandwich was H U G E, despite being a «half» sandwich. It was also very tasty. The sour dough wasn’t as sour as I expected, but that sort of thing varies from location to location. The menu and the sign says they make things from scratch. I think I can believe that. Environment: Since it was the weekend, it was not very crowded as I assume it can be on weekdays. Tall ceiling, many tables and chairs. Free newspapers and flyers for people to read. Service: The staff greeted everyone who came in. The guy who took my order was very helpful with explaining my menu choices. He also brought the food to my table. Bar: Three Lions does not serve alcoholic beverages, but looking at the menu, I saw they have a good variety of coffee drinks in addition to the usual soft drink and other bottled beverage offerings. Over all, as a lunch place, I was impressed. It might be a little out of the way on the weekend, but it is a tasty option if you want to avoid the noisy crowds and long lines at places that are usually associated with«Brunch™» I will try to go again, but on a weekday — or perhaps in the morning to see what kind of baked goods are available. I will update this review after I do so. Addendum — 03÷20÷08 I stopped by in the morning on my way to work. They open at 7:00 am. Unfortunately, I was not able to sample the breakfast menu since I was told it wouldn’t be ready until 8:00 am(20 minutes later). I took a almond croissant and a café latte to go. WOW! The croissant was one of the best I have ever had. It was was very flaky, sprinkled with almond slivers and there must have been almond extract in the bread itself. I don’t think I will be able to try breakfast unless it is a weekend and with my schedule it will be at least 3 weeks until I can do so again. Hope I remember…

I’m going to be a regular here, simply because it’s a block away from my new shop and the coffee doesn’t suck(in fact, it’s quite good), but my wife and I decided to have sandwiches here for lunch today, and holy crap! I must say I was totally unprepared for how extraordinarily delicious my sandwich was. I got the«roast beef Philly», and the roast beef tasted like it was just pulled out of the oven and sliced on the spot. I mean, I can’t remember the last time I’ve had meat this delicious between 2 slices of bread(not to mention the peppers and cheese and onions etc)!! I think I made little grunting noises the whole time I was eating, that’s how good it was. They get docked one star because they had as a special a «homemade Reuben». Sounded great, so I ordered it. The guy then asked me «what kind of bread»? Well, duh, it’s a Reuben, Rye bread of course! He then says«sorry, we’re out of Rye». Ummmmm… your daily special is a REUBEN, and you’re OUTOFRYEBREAD? Are you kidding me? That’s like saying your special is Ham and Swiss, but sorry, we’re out of Ham! So he says«is there any other bread you’d like on that sandwich», to which I say«uhhh…no! It’s a Reuben! If you don’t have rye, it’s not a Reuben!» So that’s what prompted me to order the Roast Beef Philly(on sourdough, natch). It was a great choice and I can’t wait to have another sandwich here, even if they don’t have rye!

I think most three lions locations have free wifi, but I know for sure that this location offers it. It doesn’t have the excessive bakery case that the nw 5th location does, but it offers most everything else. Coffees, teas, and other hot drinks dominate the drink menu. As for sustenance: your stuck with the multi layered sandwhiches. I think there is 25 options — its a huge list! I’m sure everyone can find something worth munching on.
