By far the WORST experience I’ve ever had EVER. The «asian» woman name is Michelle and that’s who my complaint is about. Funny that’s what everyone else’s complaint is about too. Tried to make a complaint to her supervisor Bryon, he yelled over me and hung up on me twice. This place is a joke and it’s obvious they don’t care about how they treat people… who cares about paying customers right? I’ve never been so disrespected and disgusted with customer service before in my life. I suggest u all drive to a different post office unless u enjoy being treated like scum. Someone needs to do something about this, but the reality is that no one will.

The Asian lady everyone keeps referring to is always a sweet heart to me. She has gone out of her way to retake my boxes several times when either I had the wrong box or needed more tape.

OMG! I was mailing documents from work and using my business credit card. As I’m a frequent customer & use same USPS Clerk I asked «nicely» why she needed my ID & she blew up!
She says, «EXCUSE ME?» … Never answering my question, starts heckling me & getting customers to heckle & yell at
Withholding my ID, then my receipt over a question. Then as I’m asking her why she is so hostile towards me, she starts telling me she’s calling the POLICE on me!
This is our USPS CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I actually had complained about her in the past due to her negative attitude.

Horrible experience. I work from home. My boss asked me to mail something overnight to reach Tulsa by 2pm. I used
to print Overnight Express postage. Then, I had to go across town in order to mail it, because my local PO doesn’t do overnight.
I stood in line, got a receipt by the time required for drop off. It is now 6:12PM Tulsa time and it hasn’t been delivered. I have tried to call the 1 – 800 number AND the local Lents PO number, with no luck. No one will answer the phone. Bad, bad service.

Terrible. How do you have ONE person at a register around the holidays? There’s a line out the door, come ON!!!

Pretty typical post office: long lines, perpetually on-​edge staff, petty restriction enforcement for higher profits, and of course lost mail. I gave them one less star because they sent back a stack of envelopes that were semi-​rigid but easily machinable, and I had to add $.21 to each one. Of course, they made sure I did add postage by tightly rubber-​banding them so that they were so crinkled they couldn’t be machine-​sorted even if they tried. No other post office has done this, but they’ve done it multiple times. And its never a problem when I have just a few envelopes. The ‘magic’ number appears to be six.

At least 70 percent of the times I’ve been here, I feel like something shady is going down. One time it might be a series of sketchy dudes harassing people for change at the front door. Another time, it might be some rambunctious teens in the parking lot. Or, like tonight, it might be an unexplained gaggle of teeny old Asian ladies using the broad sidewalk outside like their private patio and just chatting away in their wheeled chairs and walkers.
I like to think of it as local color. Local meaning: an odd intersection of high school back alley /​retirement home /​low income housing /​Ross Dress 4 Less /​LA Fitness /​Joann’s /​cineplex. And color meaning: red as in roses (a la Avenue of the same), white as my knuckles, and blue as in collar and occasionally language.
So, but. It has a self-​serve postal machine that’s open late, which is awesome. It has those flat-​rate boxes and envelopes that make life a million times easier, and can provide a tracking number, and are still way cheaper than UPS or FedEx. It’s fairly spacious, so you’re not breathing down anyone’s neck if you find yourself waiting, and you’re never hunting for parking.
I like it. Even though sometimes I sorta fear for my safety. But that just makes it more exciting. Kinda? Anyway.
It’s a decent post office. It takes your money and whatever it is you want to mail, and delivers it across the country, or just down the street. Today, I mailed my hair to a lady in Georgia. You can’t do that online! It’s a pretty nifty system, that USPS, and this particular spot is a fairly easy portal into the post. I reeeeeally want to call it the whole package, but Lents, man… it’s pretty outside the box.

I moved in this Post offices delivery area, which is strange because it is further than two post offices closer to me. HOWEVER, I Rarely receive my mail. I have had mail returned to sender and people call me to let me know. I asked my neighbors if they have the same experience, they all have. One contacted the supervisor and said she was not getting her mail from the VA and when she asked the mail carrier he said he refused to deliver mail from the VA. The supervisor said he has the right to do that… odd. When i called not knowing about the neighbors I said I had not received my mail for a week and that a doctors office had called me with returned mail to sender. The supervisor said he would get back to me and never has. Again, day 3 no mail not even junk mail. So i will try to call again.

I will only identify her as the Asian lady, because I could not catch her name over the phone. I usually don’t care to describe people by their race, but beings this was over the phone & didn’t have a name, that’s as much as I have to go off of. How completely rude! I was trying to confirm a zip code discrepancy I had for a work related matter, since I had never heard of «97 290» for the Eastport area in SE, that I thought I knew to be 97 266. After looking up the address on
, and it confirmed that zip was 97 290, I called to see when the change happened so I could notify others in my agency. After going round & round with her stating things like I must have the wrong address or I must have entered the address wrong into
, she stated the zip is for PO Boxes only, and that residence addresses in the area are still 97 266. Great, that was helpful… could have done with the answer without all the attitude. I then said that since the website is providing the zip for a residence address, and not a PO Box, she may want to notify someone so it can be updated. I again got how I must have done something wrong. She then had the audacity to ask me if I was done, because she had a customer waiting. Last time I checked, I was a customer too, with a valid question, then a concern. I dug a little deeper online to find that the address is for the dang post office itself. Would it have been so difficult to just say that from the get go?!?
Not the first time I have dealt with the terrible customer service at this post office, as I used to live in that area. Fortunately, I don’t have to deal with going there in person any longer. Unfortunately, for the citizens in that areas, it appears I am not the only person who has had to deal with the abysmal staff that is employed there. I don’t wish anyone to lose their job, but with customer service like this, it is no wonder that people are not utilizing the postal service. They are putting themselves out of business.

I Originally lived in SW and had my PO box at the Garden Home location, loved visiting the post office got great service, friendly staff and an all around great place. I recently moved near this post office at Eastport and switched my PO box to this location, what a MISTAKE I made, when my PO BOX was assigned to me (barely 5 ft) that this PO Box on the top row was not going to work for me, I went into the lobby and asked the lead clerk (rudest little Asian lady ever) what I could do to get a lower PO Box that I could actually reach, she basically told me that the PO box was randomly selected, which I understand, so I ask again how can I switch to a lower box, she tells me you can close your box and open a new one but you will lose your money, I ask her why can you not just fix the mistake and give me a box I can reach, at this point the lead clerk that I can barely understand and who can clearly barely understand me tells me that I have no common sense and that she doesn’t need to fix anything, I ask for her manager and she tells me I am the manager here, so I ask for her manager or bosses number and after a number of odd sounds which I’m sure we’re words in her mind she writes down her higher-​ups info. I called her boss immediately and received nearly as bad of service as I received at the actual post office Brad Cate the lead clerks boss told me basically because of the area that the post office is located that they deal with some pretty bad people so their customer service may not be the best which seems completely ridiculous to me but hey I’m not the boss then he proceeds to tell me there is a 2 month waiting period on any other PO box in that post office which yet again is BS because I walked in paid them $ 120 and got a PO box for a year on the spot so now all of a sudden there’s a waiting list, I think not! Ok, first of all — I LOVE THE US POSTAL SERVICE. It’s like a magical thing that I can ship all over the world and it’s very affordable and reliable. I run an online Etsy store so use the USPS all the time. Also, I lived with a mail carrier and have seen how hard these people work. All I can say is the folks at Lents must be mistreated, or there’s something in the staff coffeemaker that makes them hostile.
I recently moved to this neighborhood and have the unfriendliest mail carrier. He won’t pick up my packages that have postage on them, which I understand can be a hassle if they’re big. But he’s left 11-​oz packages. Come on. He’s been rude and unmannerly when asked direct, friendly questions.
So today I had a package go missing in Hollywood, CA and filed a report online. Was marked as delivered in the tracking info but the CA P.O. left a «Sorry We Missed You» form 3849. Got an email from Customer Service at Lents asking for a phone call to follow up. Called to speak with the Customer Service manager who is on vacation this week and instead spoke with Holly. I just needed some direction, maybe an 800 number, just some help — next steps, advice, you know… customer service.
Holly lost it immediately. Raised her voice and demanded, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FROM A THOUSAND MILES AWAY. THIS IS NOT OUR PROBLEM… it was… insane. I asked if there was a follow-​up protocol, an 800 number, something, and she kept yelling WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO… it was horrible. Just be solutions-​oriented, you know? Just treat me like a human being. It sucks dealing with the public, I get it. I’ve worked retail. I’ve been a waitress. But just be kind. Really not necessary to freak out, to be rude and aggressive. I’ll be following up with a formal complaint, I can only imagine how she treats people who need serious immediate assistance.
I’ll avoid this Post Office as much as possible.

One of the biggest questions running through a reviewer’s mind when he sits down to scribble off a missive is: do I base my review on the business itself, or the people that patronize that business? It’s not as easy to answer as one might think. Especially in a post office.
A United States Post Office location is one of those places, those houses of government service, that attracts all kinds. Everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, age, race, ethnicity, preference, hair color or creed has to mail some shit every now and then. And to do that, they come here. They come to the place that makes the mail go… slow.
I live in my own little bubble. I have my friends, my fellow Unilocalers, my co-​workers, the people I do business with, the people that eat at the same restaurants as I do, drink at the same bars with, go to the same shows as i do, shop at the same stores I shop at, etc, etc. And that’s really a heck of a lot of places… It all amounts to what I feel is a pretty diverse (and quite large) sphere of humanity…
…or is it?
I’ve come to realize it’s not. While my social bubble includes many people of different ethnicity, gender, social strata, age, economic status, and so on… it doesn’t include the people that I run into every time that I go to the Lents — Eastport United States Post Office. Oh, definitely not. Where these people come from, I haven’t the foggiest. I can only imagine they come from the Wal-​Mart next door (another place whose clientele and I don’t share the same social circle).
I’ll just say this: Taz– and Tweety-​based fashion is still alive and well, and it lives at the Lents Post Office. My general refusal to shop at places like Wal Mart and Best Buy and Big-​Box-​Whatever probably helped shelter me from this dismal reality for the past ump-​teen years. I honestly thought that it crawled into a corner somewhere and passed peacefully into the night. Nope. I was wrong.
I will also say this: People from Lents mail shit. A lot of shit. Are they all running ebay businesses? Is the entire population of deep-​SE-​PDX involved in some form of «Earn up to $ 3,000 per week working from home!» type of business? God only knows. I generally only have one or two things to mail at a time, but just about every time I get in line at this post office, someone in front of me has at least 100 or so Priority Mail boxes teetering like a too-​tall-​tower of blocks in their arms. Really? Yes, really.
I must also add this: Someone once said something to the effect of «there are only two sure things in life — death and taxes.» I will add a third. The third sure thing in life is the incredibly angry and insanely unreasonable person in front of you in line at the Post Office. Since this is one of the only three sure things in life, you can bet your sweet ass that it’s a truism at this Post Office as well. Sometimes three-​fold. How hard can it be to understand the rules of the system? How hard is it to WRAP YOUR GODDAMN FUCKING PACKAGE CORRECTLY? How is it the Postal Service Employee’s fault that you’re too mentally challenged to understand the basic tenets of mailing a letter or parcel? How hard is it to comprehend that the post office is so big, so gargantuan, and so governmental, that a) the postal employee standing across from you did not write the rules, b) they’re not lying to you, c) they have no incentive to break the rules just for you, and d) they don’t want to be there just as much as you don’t? Anyone who has enjoyed the pleasure of standing in line at the Lents/​Eastport Post Office knows that all of those things are obviously really, incredibly fucking hard… at least for some people.
So amidst internal queries of above-​referenced nature one duly ponders while standing in line at, and bicycling home from, the Lents/​Eastport United States Post Office, the question again arises: Do you rate the business based on the business itself, or the people who patronize that business?
From the 4-​solid stars at the top of this review, you’ll guess the business itself, rather than the people who get in my way at said business, is the basis for this rating.
The United States Post Office — Lents at Eastport offers your standard set of Post Office services — post, parcel, passport, PO Boxes, and all sorts of other P-​related shit you ain’t never even thought of before, and generally it does so with at least half of a smile. An Automated stamp and parcel machine out front that seems to be too difficult for most of the locals to use is the icing on the cake for this location (indicated by the fact that I’ve never seen anyone but myself use it), for unless I’m mailing international or I need some special service, I can avoid the line of said above-​listed non-​Donosphere humanity and simply mail my shit and break the hell out. Which I do with frequency.

Other than the somewhat confusing lobby, this post office gets the job done efficiently and without much hassle. And, it’s within walking distance from my house.
