Many times my wife and I have gone to Walgreens to buy various items and we’re very happy of the service we recieved at all of them. Go in, check out, no problem. Today we visited the new Walgreens down the street from where we live on Sandy Blvd. We needed to get some medicine for my son who was severely congested at home. We get our things then proceed to the cashier to pay for our items. First couple items go on without a hitch, then another item requires I show ID, no biggie I thought, just routine protocol. Since I had my wife with me, she also had to show ID but left it at home since I was driving. Perplexed, we decided not to purchase that item. We get to the medicine for my son, once again, the cashier could not sell us the item because she did not have her ID. That was the last draw. We left all the items at the counter and told them that it was stupid not to sell to us because we both needed id’s and walked out the store. We went next door to a Safeway and bought the exact same items and NOONE asked us for ID there. So I ask, if I had gone to Walgreens with just my son, would they of still not sold me the items because my son has no ID as well? What if another family of 6 walked in, would all of them be required to show ID? We did return to Walgreens after we shopped Safeway and spoke to the manager. He explained that it is Walgreens policy to ID everyone if there’s an item that requires ID. But he says«I would have sold it to you». After a lengthy conversation with the manager, he did NOTHING to try to appease the customer. Just a sorry for the confusion? One might think the regain a customer one might give $ 5 or $ 10 coupons for the inconvenience. We got NOTHING. My wife and I are in our forties and there was no way we were going to buy some $ 9 decongestant, extract the chemical in there to sell on the streets for $ 5. Even though this Walgreens is right down the street from us, we will not ever return to this location.

As an avid Walgreens customer for many years, I was thrilled by the fact that one moved into our little Roseway neighborhood. I was able to move my ‘scripts up from the 82nd& Glisan flawlessly and I can walk to the new store. wahoo! They did a great job with the build-out. It’s beautiful, bright and very spacious inside. My husband’s reaction when he walked in «Wow, this place it beautiful» And lots of great selections on cosmetics, electronics to food. I’ve been there 3 times now and every time I’ve been I’ve had stellar customer service. And the ladies in the pharmacy are very nice and friendly. I was sick recently and they filled my ‘script within 10 minutes of receiving it from my Doctor. Talk about speedy service.
