Okay… so it was pretty good. I got the wicked waffle. has egg and bacon wrapped in a traditional waffle. Since I don’t eat bacon they were nice enough to put it on the side and throw some tomatoes on my order instead. The gf said«best bacon ever» and there was lots of it. However, the overall portion was pretty small. I may go back but probably more inclined to try one of the other carts if I’m very hungry and in the neighborhood, not worth 25 Min drive.

Eating the original wicked waffle was an experience I would like to share with the world. I want to put this sugar and cinnamon ensconced breakfast treat in the hands of every non-diabetic person I have ever, will ever or have never met. The simplicity of the execution, a traditional waffle, folded and filled with whipped cream, was almost heartbreaking. As whipped cream became saturated with cinnamon and sugar and slowly melted and ran down my arm, I threw self awareness to the wind and dragged my 30 year old tongue up and down my sticky forearm. Such is the power of a waffle as superlative as this. Fresh local berries are available if you wanna healthy up your sugar covered dough cone. I however am a purist when it comes to brunch decadence, which means keep the fruit in the cocktails please.

I am going to tell you right now that I have been a loyal waffle-eater of the FlavourSpot ever since I moved to town. I scoffed at the fact that a new waffle place had moved in and was skeptical when the fam said that I had to try it! While Flavourspot is full of win, there is usually a line of hungover hipsters that crowd it on the weekends. There’s never a long line at WW and they are pretty speedy. I really wanted to hate WW and tried so hard to find things wrong with them. I have given up on this hate mission because every single time, I am blown away by their delicious concoctions and their genuine kindness. Their menu is jam packed with inventive waffles. The batter is always perfectly tasty and comes dressed up with seasonal fruit, syrup or gravy. Usually there are specials like peaches and cream. PEACHESANDCREAM! So fluffy and tasty and creamy! I lie in bed at night missing it like a long lost lover! Also, WW is a mom/son run gig. I love this about them and they make a great little team. It’s about time that I stop being a jerk and give these guys the credit they deserve.

Yesterday I saw a tweet about peach cobbler waffle from Wicked and I could not get it out of my head. However, I could not go. Today though at the end of a 50 mile bike ride we pulled in and I asked about the peach waffle and fully expected to be disappointed but I was not. Oh, the joy! The rapture! Whip cream! Peaches! Waffle goodness! This was actually my third time and this was by far the best but they have some strong items on the menu. The waffle with cinnamon and sugar satisfies any sweet tooth. The fresh strawberry waffle is more strawberry than waffle but you cannot argue with fresh strawberries.

A recent trip to Portland included a ridiculous number of stops at food carts(who would have thought that Portland was the food cart palace??). And on one adventurous morning, I shared a Blueberry Waffle with a friend… and fell madly in love with waffles all over again :) I mean, hands-down delicious. The waffle was light and airy, the blueberry sauce was fresh and not-to-sweet, and there was whipped cream to top it all off. Honestly, fabulous. I was sad the following day when the cart was already sold out of items by the time I got there… but I have to remember that no one can waffle rendezvous dreams away from me. I will be back!

First time was a charm! Saw a reference from Portland Food Carts on FB — Porkapolooza. We LOVED it. Gravy was incredible. Headed back for more soon.

I have to admit, my first thought on hearing about this place was«another waffle place in Portland, really?» But still, it’s in the neighborhood and that blue and white retro trailer is super cute, so we made our way over there. And not a moment too late. We got there just in time for the special bourbon pecan, strawberry, and whipped cream waffle. Hoooolllleee waffle. It was revelatory. No seriously. You might think a waffle can’t be revelatory, but I assure you, the waffles from this place will change your mind. We went back yesterday just to confirm(you know, for research purposes) and it’s official. This is a damn good waffle, and to top it off, some of the friendliest people you’ll meet man the cart.

Food cart, Food Cart HYPE!HYPE!HYPE! $ 6 for a waffle rolled around 2 eggs and a sprinkle of cheese? Please. Isn’t the point of these awesome food carts to remove the overhead of paying employees and renting a space to bring cheap, yet delicious goods to hungry Portlanders? This is getting out of control, and I feel bad that I am making an example of this cart, but it is part of the problem. More and more of carts are making folks pay exhorbant prices for«quickie» food, just because the Times dropped by. My food definitely wasn’t slop, it smelled good and tasted okay – I kept on having to run back for hot sauce and salt. They were out of a lot of ingredients — and offered substitutes that didn’t exist. No price break offered though. I’m the dummy that should have asked for one, I know. The guy running the show was nice enough, but kind of overdoing it on the self-promotion. I hadn’t even ordered and was told how I could find ‘em on Facebook and had a frequent buyer card in hand. Waste of a card, I’m afraid. The cart and waiting area were real cute, and smells coming from the cart were to die for, but next time I’m in the area I will leave it at that. Sitting and Smelling.

Wickedly Awesome is all I should have to say. I’m on two visits now. If the wonderful array of original, and mouth watering waffle goodness wasn’t enough, the owners are over the top great at what they are doing. The Wicked Perfect Waffle is my favorite. Yellow corn waffle with Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, scrambled eggs and three strips of bacon rolled into a perfect hand held package. The Wicked Waffle, and the Wicked Chocolate, look amazingly mouth watering as well. The quality is great, the food taste is amazing, and a pretty good selection of options, flavors and extra’s that can make your waffle combo unique. Service is over the top great as I said! These people are enjoying what they do and clearly understand that the customer comes first. The product is out timely, accurately, hot and delicious. My second visit was on Mother’s day, and they gave my lady, who is a mother, a free rose. Very thoughtful and wonderfully played. Good people, great food, convenient location. Give them a try soon. Thank you Wicked Waffles!

Caleb’s review above is right on. Tried Wicked this morning and was completely underwhelmed not to mention a couple of serious misfires. Had the Waffles and Gravy. The waffle had black carbon specks all over it presumably from an unhappy waffle iron, the eggs were nuked, and the bacon had a strange, chemical aftertaste. They do seem like very nice people and my impression was that Mom was the primary cook and she wasn’t there… The son seemed to be struggling with the cooking duties. That being said, I still feel like I wasted $ 8 for a very subpar breakfast.

Super cute lil food cart and sweet couple that run it! Nothing like fresh made waffles(that are folded up with your treats in the middle) They have some original flavor-filled waffles. There were four of us who went & we were all satisfied with our tasty waffles! I had the blue moon waffle despite it being breakfast… it tasted like some heavenly dessert!

I have a thing for waffles… hmmm… let me rephrase: I have a BIG thing for waffles!!! …so when Wicked Waffles popped up, I knew that I had to give it a try. Looking at the menu on their website, I was excited to learn that they offer different batters for whatever you mood fancies: sweet or savory. I embarked to Wicked Waffle on a cold, rainy morning in hopes to satisfy my ever-growing sweet tooth with a double stack of the«Wicked Waffle.» Properly named, it’s a vanilla bean waffle showered with enough cinnamon sugar to make your cavities ache and your dentists cringe, but in a wickedly good way!!! :) I’ll admit that the waffle itself was too chewy and dense, and that a waffle that is a tad brown is actually better than a blond one(yes, I received both in my double stack…), but it tasted great overall. I love the flavor of the waffle, the cinnamon sugar combo, the maple syrup on the side, and the crisp factor of the«brown» waffle. We also ordered the special of the day, «the Maple Leaf, eh?» and while I didn’t get a chance to try it, the siblings said that the chicken patty was pleasantly delicious. I have my favorite place to go to when it comes to waffles, but with the variety of batters, toppings and specials that Wicked Waffle, I’ll likely return… however, I’ll probably ask for the waffle to be «extra crispy» next time to ensure a proper texture.

Oh Jeanie Subotnick, would that I were a poet. As only a poet is worthy to extol the virtues of your gravy. I have followed your gravy for decades. I was heartbroken to see it leave NW Portland(Byways was it?) Then to toddle up to a little cart on a sleepy Saturday in NoPo and see it there in all its chunky glory! Sausage, Cream, Bacon, Pork! It is what all breakfast gravy’s strive to be. Those of you that love a good gravy– you have but had a replica, a commercial kinkos copy of the masterpiece available now at wicked waffles. And they make a hell of a stand up crispy waffle to support it! I may just give up the gym membership and surrender. And for the guy that complained of being outside in the rain– you must have missed the heated building right behind you with all the picnic tables. I didnt.

I also visited Wicked Waffles on the 17th, when they had their strawberry and Guinness and Caramel special. I just ordered the regular one, and my friend ordered the special. I had no idea they would serve them up the same handy way that they serve up crepes! The plain waffle was really good, I didn’t even want to use my syrup. The special waffle was really, really good, I was sort of jealous that I didn’t order it, but I was looking for something on the smaller side. The guy operating the cart was very sweet, and upbeat, which is always nice. I think the value is pretty good, for $ 6 you can get the daily special and get filled right up. I will be back.

I’m not really a huge fan of waffles. That was until I ate at wicked waffles and I understood that waffles can become much more than a vehicle for syrup. We visited one morning with our daughter and ordered three things off the menu. A plain jane, wicked perfect and the special of the day which was caramelized pineapple with something that was infused into another thing than was covered in goodness. Wow, I had no idea that a waffle could taste so good. Next morning my wife saw there sunday special on twitter and once again I was in the car back to Wicked Waffles, this time trying other items. They also have lunch items like BLT waffles and what not. Though I have not had lunch there, it looks great. One of the owners was talking about some of the items they are brainstorming for additional lunch items and they sounded awesome. Definitely creative options here.

Before the complaining begins I’d like to say that the owners seemed to be perfectly nice folks: happy to be there and quite friendly. And, to be sure, I wish them the best in their professional ventures. …but I’m not sure if Wicked Waffles – in its current iteration – is the finest expression of their aspirations. My displeasure centers around 2 primary things: value and options for vegetarians. Much of these will be expressed in terms of one larger issue: better alternatives nearby. VALUE — Clearly they are trying to position themselves as a boutique food cart. More power to them. They offer myriad options for waffle batter which, while a bit over the top, is in keeping with the boutique identity. The problem, though is that the selection of batter and wacky flavor combinations don’t necessarily equate to a correspondingly tasty end product. …at least not for the money they’re charging. The waffles were good, but not good enough to merit the price. My coworker ordered one of their more expensive waffles and said that the bacon was unimpressive and its flavor was drowned out by some of the other ingredients. The bacon, then, was $ 1.5 filler that wound up being good for little other than a future coronary. Back to the batter, though: a place could have a million batter options but I’m still not going to eat there if the end product is only so good(and I paid a premium for privilege of choosing). Such is the case here. The Flavour Spot has waffle batter. Regular waffle batter. And, like the WW batter choices, it tastes good. But the Flavour Spot waffle costs *significantly* less. The WW «Ham N Cheese Wich» will, with the bacon & tomato options, cost you over $ 8. For one waffle. And you’re still standing at a food cart. Outside. In the rain. While I’m not discounting that there is a time and a place for an $ 8+ waffle, I’m quite sure that the place is a bit more comfortable and the time is in a few years when our currency has been further devalued. ;-). Another case in point: at Flavour I can get a waffle with nutella and organic strawberry jam for $ 3.5. At WW, the same waffle would seem to cost $ 4.75(and they don’t seem to say that the jam is organic). VEGOPTIONS — This is a smaller gripe, but a worthy one nonetheless: Of the 3 «Savory Wicked Wiches,» only one is vegetarian and it’s totally gross. I will *never* want broccoli slaw or lettuce on a waffle. Ever. And I’ll certainly not pay $ 6 for it when I could have all sorts of veggie-friendly options at Flavour. Flavour has veggie patties. When the owner suggested that I, a vegetarian, get the«Wicked Perfect» waffle and he would graciously substitute the bacon(menu price: $ 1.5) for a slice of tomato(menu price: $.75), I kind of balked: here I was, joining my coworkers as we tried ‘the new Flavour Spot’ and I was paying nearly twice as much for a waffle that wound up being less impressive. I’d also like to disabuse you of the notion that this is just another vegangelical rant: my meat-eating peers were also unimpressed(though spared the indignity of paying for the world’s most expensive slice of tomato instead of a protein option) and we all proceeded to return to Flavour, begging apologies for ever straying. ALTERNATIVES — Yes, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that I’m a Flavour Spot partisan. I’d hope that, after the less-than-amazing WW offerings, you can at least understand why.(and, for the record, I am in no way affiliated with Flavour in a professional or personal context – merely a happy customer). When I’ve lived in other, more expensive cities, a place like Wicked Waffles would be a dream come true and, provided they came to offer more for vegetarians, I’d be a steadfast supporter. Alas, amidst the entire city, they’ve placed their cart nearly equidistant from BOTH Flavour Spot locations, leaving me with little reason to patronize their cart when Flavour is so deliciously close by. To summarize: People: nice. Price: too high. Feel: boutiquey. fine. Taste: decent. not worth the money. Creativity: good. bonus points. Selection: of batter: great. For vegetarians: poor. Location: kind of odd, they’re placed right in Flavour Spot’s turf. The two star rating is equated to: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Frankly, I couldn’t have put it better, myself.

I live in the neighborhood and visited Wicked Waffles several times and have never been disappointed. Today I had the special a Guinness waffle with fresh strawberries and with a Guinness caramel. It was very good, the caramel with the fresh strawberries was perfect. I’ve also had the Wicked Perfect, the Wicked Waffle with bacon and eggs, the corn waffle with chili and the Veggie waffle. The Veggie was surprisingly good to me. I’m a meat eater and I grubbed on the veggie waffle. Hummus on one side and a feta kalamata olive spread on the other and then stuffed with shredded peppers, cabbage and lettuce. It was so good I know I will be ordering it again and again. Welcome to the neighborhood Wicked Waffles, we are glad you’re here!

I stopped by Wicked today and picked up waffles for my coworkers and myself. I stuck with a Plain Jane waffle with peanut butter and marionberry jam and it was great! The Blueberry Hill and Wicked Chocolate my coworkers got were delicious but quite messy… The owners were very nice and helpful; we’ll definitely be back to try their other concoctions!
