Again another disappointment in Portland, misleading reviews, i dont drink tried the limited food menu and found it severely wanting. I would never come here to eat again, service is mediocre.

My wife and I just went to a tour here. We had Bridget(I think) as our tour guide. Unfortunately, her command of the group and her personality was very weak. It seemed like she was presenting freshly memorized material in front of a high school class. She seriously said«seriously» like 200 times, like seriously. Frankly, it was pretty sad. At the very beginning, she opened with a weak presentation of the brewerys history. It could have been great, but you could have heard crickets. After that, she led the group across the street to the brewing site and gave another seemingly scripted speech outside of the door. This would have been fine, but it was 37 degrees out! I mean cmon! Once inside, if we went straight to the beer tasting to taste what was being presented, it would have been a lot better. This is just my opinion, but there was no life in this tour. Everyone was so nice that nobody spoke. It was killing me! She never asked for questions, dropped a joke, used sarcasm, nothing! Im not even sure if the girl drank beer. She mentioned how many bottles would be filled out of one tank, and that a lot of friends would need to be around to drink it. That was surely her attempt at getting a group reaction, but a pin drop could be heard. Thank goodness the noise from one of the tanks detracted from the akwardness. She knew some stuff about the company history, but who really cares about that with no glass in hand?! The beer was great! But our tour was sad. Im sure it would be easy to find someone with a captivating personality that could redefine that tour. It could be amazing but, but sadly, it just isnt. It was our last day in Portland and our day was somewhat planned around this. Too bad it was just blah. Do not plan your day around it.

What’s not to like. Good selection of their beers. Everything you can get in the store plus so many more options. Good food.

Great place for dinner and drinks– courteous staff, nice parking lot, short wait, food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our dinner was delayed tonight because the kitchen was very busy; we waited 45 minutes without complaint. However, the manager came and said our meal was on the house because of the wait! Very nice surprise. Will definitely come more often

Brewery tour review: We came here to do their brewery tour which cost $ 5 dollars, but you get to sample 4 – 5 of their beers at the end. It is a pretty good deal since you basically get a pint of beer, plus you get the keep the tasting glass as a souvenir. The tour was pretty short and you don’t get to see much of the facilities but it was worth doing if you have about an hour to spare. All in all, there is nothing like drinking a glass of super fresh hefeweizen from this brewery.

GOHERE. The beer was amazing(and they were very generous with their samlples). The food was great too. Their sandwiches are more interesting than traditional pub fare(my husband had a smoked turkey sandwich with apple, among other toppings, on a pita) and I had the chicken schnitzel, which was to die for. We also indulged in the brownie for desert. It was enormous and I could happily survive on the peanut butter whipped cream for the rest of my life. All in all, Widmer Brothers was an awesome experience with great food, great beer, and delightful staff!

The restaurant was great… service, food & accommodatingly quick, because we asked for it that way! I like the sample of BEER they bring as they greet you! Nice touch even if beer is not my drink of choice. Hubby had a good solid burger and I had deviled eggs… solid lite bite. The tour didn’t seem worthwhile. The girl seemed a little too flighty and new, with responses like…“that is a good question, but I don’t know the answer to that”. I really didn’t ask anything too technical. However, I did like the small company feel. Even seeing the CEO wizz out at 4 to make his way to the gym? We have been on other brewery tours that were waay more detailed, technical, and educational. They emphasize the tasting and not the tour, but nothing«wrong» with that if sampling is really what you want anyway.

Although we were not there in time for a tour, I was great to see the brewery and how this one worked. We had a beer at the tap house, the food menu looked really good(we had already eaten.) the place was clean and quant. Bartender was nice!

Charming Pub! My wife and I shared a glass of Hefe and enjoyed two delicious lunch sandwiches on my 25th birthday. The atmosphere is warm(even if it’s raining outside) and the staff is down to earth and very friendly. I highly recommend the brewery tour next tour too. It’s brief, but only costs five bucks and you get to taste four fresh beer samples! The staff is also very friendly here too! :)

Great beer prices and a fun atmosphere. We shared the strip loin steak and the ginger carrot soup. My husbands favorite stop in Portland. Definitely worth checking out!

Portland experienced a major downpour for a total of five minutes the entire time that I was in Portland. Those five minutes happened to be during the time that I was looking for Widmer Brothers Brewery to attend their brewery tour. Eventually I found it, drenched with rain and by the end of the tour was very glad that I had not given up on looking for it. The brewery is located across the street from the Widmer Bros pub and you can buy your tickets for a tour at the retail store located a couple doors down from the pub. The tour is only $ 5 so I honestly wasn’t expecting too much. After paying we were led over to the brewery which was perfectly toasty and much welcome as we were drenched from the rain. We were given a full history of how the Widmer Bros were started and were shown all the machines that make the brewing process possible. The story was impressive as was all the giant machinery that makes their delicious beer possible. We were allowed to take pictures of everything and after having all our questions answered I felt that we had gotten our five dollar’s worth of a tour. To my surprise we also got to try 4 of their beers on tap: an Alt, IPA, Hefe and Shandy. All were delicious and we found out just how widely distributed Widmer Bro’s beer is. My friend who isn’t usually into beer at all really enjoyed the beer samples that we tried and we were allowed to take home our sample glasses with the Widmer Bros label on it. By the end of the tour we had been served a generous amount of beer and were invited to head over to the pub across the street for more if we wanted. There were only six of us on the tour which was really nice as we got to meet some locals and some others who were also new to Portland and swap ideas of places to visit in the city. This tour was definitely worth all of the five dollars that we paid if not more. It proved to be both fun and informational for those of us from both near and afar. I highly recommend it for a full history of how Widmer Bros operates and was created and to try some delicious beer!

The burger for burger week is absolutely delicious! That said, the service was not so great. Our waiter ignored us half the time and was quick to try to get us out when I did call his attention. He had no real information to share with us when we asked about the menu. The service was a huge turn off. We probably would have stayed and bought more had he been attentive. The burger was cooked to perfection and was beautifully made and presented on the plate, but I’d rather get better customer service at an ok burger joint than made to feel like I was an inconvenience. I’m giving it 4 stars for the food and a 1 for service. Shouldn’t punish the restaurant for a bad waiter.

On a whim we stopped into the Pub across the street from the brewery to taste some beers before our flight home to California. The menu mentioned weekday tours at 3pm. It was already 2:55pm by the time we asked our server. He happily called the retail shop and asked if we could join the tour. What great service! This was after he already gave us a free taster of a stout. We promised to come back and hurried over to the retail store. We ended up having a private tour since no one else came. Our pour guide thought he was off the hook until we showed up. He brought us over to the brewery, explained some history and took us through each process. Luckily for us, there was alot going on and beer was actually being brewed. At the end of the tour he took us to taste some beers in «The Cathedral» of fermenters. Since there were only two of us, he was flexible and gave us some extra perks. Our guide let us taste Hefe, Shandy, an IPA, American Gothic Stout, and a cider. He also gave us a tasting glass to take home. He was very knowledgable and passionate about the company. When the tour was over, we tipped our guide and went back to tip our waiter at the pub. Before my boyfriend dragged me here, I didn’t know the Widmer brand but, now I will definitely be buying Widmer in the stores and telling my friends about the time we toured their brewery. Tour cost: $ 5/person Length: less than an hour Require covered shoes

My husband and I stopped in for a late night beer and snack. We’ve had all the widely distributed beers by Widmer Brothers and wanted to try something unique to the brewpub. They offered a wide selection of other, smaller batch beers. We ordered some beer nuts and pretzels to go with the beers as well which were good. Staff were pleasant and it was a positive experience overall. If I return to Portland, I’d definitely revisit. For now, I’ll enjoy the beers from Florida.

Tons of beers on tap! The beertender was so friendly! After ordering some pints, he even dropped off some free tasters just because :) To munch, we also ordered the pretzel and bacon mac & cheese, which were both good as well. If you bring your receipt next door to the gift shop, you’ll get a bit of a discount.

It’s hard to go to widmer & not have over the top expectations. This is a good brewpub, but it’s easy to forget that it is a brewpub. This place is very casual and has a nice vibe. Pros: Beer was excellent & the service was good. I would highly recommend the beer taster. I loved sampling the limited edition brews. The menu had something for everyone. One person in our group ordered the lamb burger and loved it. It was a huge sandwich. Cons: it didn’t seem like a brewpub, the brewery is actually across the street. Two people got dishes that were of very small proportions. The bathrooms were in the basement and they were a little scary!
