Wine & Growl

Recently visited on a Saturday eve and the experience was wonderful! It was a full house but my friends and I didn’t have to wait long to be seated; we enjoyed sampling the extensive wine selection at the bar in the interim. I had the crêpe wrapped halibut, which was really good, but I was even more impressed by the desserts! I had the dirty pretzel and the flourless chocolate cake. Apparently the dirty pretzel toppings are always changing (mine was topped with apple cider glaze and pomegranate seed brittle), so I’d suggest visiting soon! 5 stars for the food, drink selection and service quality– this is a hidden gem of the area!

They’re only open for lunch on Friday and Saturday, which is too bad because I would love to come here more often with co-​workers. The place is very cozy, can get very loud when full, and the seating is limited, but they offer some outdoor spots during the drier and warmer months. My friends rave about the liquor, but that’s not my thing so I’ll focus on the food, which is absolutely superb.
One of the coolest things they have is the «Dirty Pretzel,» which is a creation that changes day-​to-​day. It’s light fare and a bit expensive at times, but it’s wonderful!
The menu seems to change seasonally, so things like the Painted Hills Steak entrée is no longer there at the moment, but the Dry Aged Strip Steak was a great replacement. Who knew I would enjoy huckleberries on a steak?
The sandwiches are top notch and while the string potato fries can be messy, it just means it took a little longer to clear out my entire plate. The new Pacific Chowder is also a highly rated item in my eyes as well as their flourless chocolate cake dessert.
Everything they make here is just bursting with flavor accompanied with awesome presentation. The portion sizes are on the small side but appropriate for a fine dining establishment, so just keep that in mind.

Stopped by on NYE for wine and desserts. They have an extensive impressive wine list and creative experimental selection of desserts. We settled on a red blend French, but I don’t recall the name. And flourless chocolate cake and pretzel served with caramel balsamic vin reduction sauce and raspberry serbet. Wow, everything was excellent. I was a bit skeptical about pretzels with balsamic vin. But it works! Highly unexpected wonderful surprise. The service was excellent as well. The older gentleman was very knowledgable about wine and personable. It was so enjoyable experience, we completely lost track of time. We’ll be back!

Wow, this place was amazing. Despite its exterior, it had a very stylish interior and vibe. Blown away by the food and amazing beer and wine menu.
This is my new hole in the wall spot I’ll be taking out of town friends. Would be great for just a drink or a full dinner.
Pro-​tip: get the Karo chips. So addicting.

What a great find. Whoever is their chef is brilliant. We really appreciated the different flavor profiles. The dirty pretzel was fantastic. Good taps and exquisite food.

Great little spot we happened across on Unilocal while in the area. Food was excellent and had a good selection of wine and beer.

Talk about your best kept secrets! Found this special little wisp of a speakeasy on Unilocal and decided to give it a go. Mother may I? Everything at Wine and Growl is just right if you can set aside the unremarkable name of the business. I ordered a burger that was out of this world. My better half had a unique salad with pomegranate seeds that was super original. She paired her salad with a complex Willamette Valley pinot, while I enjoyed a NW red ale. We will be back again and again.

By far my favorite meal I’ve had in this area so far! The taro chips with aioli were simply addictive & perfect. I ordered the burger medium rare & devoured every bite. The burger was seasoned & cooked to perfection with the most amazing savory crust on the sear. Service was outstanding, too! I’m already dreaming of my next visit.

We LOVE this place! We were bummed when our favorite wine bar in Hillsdale closed and have longed to find its replacement. And now we have! This is a great little place with a cozy atmosphere, amazing beer and wine selections and incredible food! If you liked the former Korkage… you will love Wine & Growl!

This place was lovely. Great space, friendly staff. The only downside was that it was empty on a Saturday evening! I know it is new-​ish but I hope they see more traffic because they have a good thing going here.
My friend ordered a white wine flight (3 pours) but asked to sub one of the tastes for the rose. No problem. I ordered a red wine flight and the server asked if she could pour from a single winery of whom they just hosted the night before and highly recommended. Done. My friend and I were both delighted with our samplings! Generous servings as well. We also ordered a cheese plate and a charcuterie plate off the happy hour menu which was just one cheese and one meat. Seemed small but it was just the right size to share with all of the accoutrements (lots of bread, cracker, mustard, jam, fruit). I would easily return here.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Beaverton. The wine selection is absolutely fabulous — best I’ve seen in a while. Staff is genuinely nice and helpful. I’ve only been here for dinner (so I can’t speak to HH) but the value for the quality of food and drink is incredible. They also have a great on-​tap wine selection (I’m usually skeptical of on-​tap wine being too young and closer to vinegar than wine).
We have been here a couple times; most recent being with a large group (8) for dinner. They do not take reservations, but a couple of us showed up a little early and grabbed a couple open seats at a big table in the front. We grabbed a glass of wine and charceuterrie plate while we waited for the rest of our party. We had to work for it a bit (as expected) but we were able to get spots for 8 by the time our full party arrived. Most of us ordered salads + entrée and of course a couple bottles of wine recommended by one of the staff. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in the Portland Area. I had the pinot noir risotto — it was incredible. Others had the special of the day, I kind of wished I could order two entrees after trying theirs…
The name and location are a little deceiving — this is not your typical growler fill! [However, I do feel a bit of comradeship with W&G; I am an owner of a coffee shop also in a nondescript strip mall…] So excited to go back.

In love with Wine & Growl! Such a warm, fun place. Came just to have a drink and ended up staying for hours with my friends. The food was incredible (had the halibut-​yum!) and the wine selection was awesome. Worth however far you have to go to get here.

I have to say I’m not a fan of the Happy Hour Menu. That being said I am a huge fan of the dinner served.
Happy hour. $ 5.00 pretzel and fondue consisted of 6 small bite sized pieces of pretzel with a drizzle of Fondue. And I mean drizzle over the little bite sized pieces.
Same itty bitty taste in the happy hour menu with the exception of the $ 8 burger and the $ 3 Taro chips.
The meals on the other hand are $ 16 range. Higher of course with a decent size portion. So there seems to be no correlation between happy hour or appetizers and the portion/​price of dinner.
I’ll be back for dinner. Most likely not for happy hour.

My husband & I were a bit skeptical of it being in a strip mall when we pulled up… then again this is Beaverton. The atmosphere albeit tight is very cozy rustic/​modern & sexy. We sat at the bar. The two girls that helped us were amazing. I tried a couple of red wines that were fantastic. Let me just say… the risotto with the carnitas. O-​M-​G!!! I was in heaven! I didn’t talk to my husband the whole 1 minute that it took me to eat it. I say 1 minute because it was a VERY small portion. I wanted to lick the plate. If I could’ve afforded it & not looked unlady-​like I would’ve ordered seconds. We left very happy. We will definitely be making the drive over from the tanasbourne area to eat here! My new fav place on the westside. Can’t wait to go back for another date night.

I believe this restaurant perfectly captures the term «gentrification.» In a tired looking strip mall, there is a modern wine bar with a great tap and bottled beer selection.
It is cozy for a date night. Not many tables in the restaurant on the whole, so it may be hard to get a table during peak times, but we were seated immediately.
Started with the specialty market price pretzel that apparently changes frequently. It is also an interpretation of the pretzels, not the double loop that typically comes to mind. Ours were bite sized bits with bacon crumbled in an acidic sauce and a tangy sauce. Pretty good, but $ 14, which I think is just as or close to as expensive as their most expensive entrée.
Onto the main course! We ordered the bacon risotto based on Unilocal and the waitress’ recommendation and a kale salad. Both were amazing, well portioned and combined $ 22. The risotto hit all the right notes and the way they do the carnitas is salty and packed with flavor that it nears bacon in taste. The kale salad was nicely dressed and had a great depth of flavor for a salad (I always appreciate when a restaurant makes salads that hold their own as main dishes).
We were about to get the check when we were shown the dessert menus and it had, in addition to a standard fare, a peanut butter cookie with bourbon caramel ice cream. We decided to try that. Pretty good, but it’s no Papa Haydn.
Overall, this is a 5 star place and the entrees we had were delicious. While I thought the pretzel was good, having seen other entrees at other tables, I think for the money, I would have rather tried one of those. Dessert is good, but not the reason I’d be back.
I wish the owner all the success and hope that this hole in the wall inspires others on the west side to open quality restaurants that stay open later.

I’d complain about bad service, but I didn’t get any… service.
Entered establishment at around 4:23pm Sunday afternoon. Not a customer in the entire place. I sat down at the bar, heard a two hens have a conversation behind a wine partition and I just sat there. I didn’t interject or peak my head around to say «hey do you work here?», should’nt have to and not in the mood — -
Witnessed one member of the BOH staff poke around behind the curtain… saw one, what seemed to be employee/​owner come in through the front door and speculated or started to stock wine after he chatted briefly with woman behind partition. I still sat, no other customers, no TV on, just taps and and register. I exited after about 7 minutes.
A lady called out for me as I neared my vehicle to leave. Sorry! would you like to come in. I mean, yes, but no, if I did it would be totally awkward and not fun. There was no ambiance to begin w/​, and then maybe you’d be overbearing and apologetic or you’d just serve me and go back to your convo. Either way, it’d would’ve sucked.
Maybe I’ll try again. I think the food on Unilocal looked satisfying and 4.5 stars seems legit.
Get a beeper for your door or just simply hold a conversation so you can observe potential $ in your ’til.

Don’t dare to overlook this gem hidden in a strip of stores.
This place was phenomenal! The staff was really friendly and down to earth. To be honest, I was a little skeptical looking at the few menu options but boy was I wrong.
We ordered the cheese and meat plate, which was pretty tasty followed by the shrimp and grits and my other half ordered mushroom risotto. And I died and went to heaven, the flavors danced wonderfully on my tongue. Even though I was getting pretty full I couldn’t help myself but to order dessert and a dessert wine. Boy, I sure wasn’t disappointed! I ordered a salted Carmel deliciousness!
This is a must go! Just writing this review is making me hungry!

Wine and growl was really good! Beat expectations.
They had a fresh taro chip appetizer with Sriracha aioli that was out of this world. The pomegranate kale salad was also incredible. Wild mushroom Risotto was excellent, but so rich I can’t imagine not sharing it. Apparently it is made from a stock that utilizes 8 different forest mushrooms. It was topped with carnitas that were the BEST carnitas I’ve ever had, ever.
The plating of everything was so beautiful and clean. Everything was picture worthy.
I’m looking forward to going back!

Excellent food, great service and tasty food. What more could you want? I had the Dirty Pretzel and spouse had flat iron steak, rare. Both cooked to perfection. Try the Mahonia Pinot Gris on tap. You won’t be disappointed.

After driving around downtown for over a half hour trying to find a place to park and have some drinks we decided to come check out wine & growl. We have passed by it several times and always mentioned wanting to go…
I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I love the modern interior and the calm music. Great place to hang out with girlfriends or go for a date night. The waiter recommended Dr. L a wine that was number 40 in the top 100 wines. (According to my very sweet and knowledgable waiter) it was excellent ! He also says they usually don’t sell this particular wine by the glass only by the bottle but was kind enough to pour me a glass ! I will be back and spread the word about this cool new gem I found. Thanks for the great service and evening.
