This is a fantastic local resource. Well stocked with the essentials and a broad range of extras. Paint, stains, glue, electrical, keys, garden, plumbing, holiday, pets, biking, canning… what’s even better is that the knowledgable staff can suggest a remedy for any project. And the local honey?! To die for! Prices are very reasonable for a small local store. The staff is seasoned, warm, kind, and funny.

Best small-time hardware store ever! I don’t understand how they can possibly have every small part or obscure product I’m looking for, but they do, and they know their inventory incredibly well. Seriously, this place astounds me. And of course you’ll pay more– real estate in Portola Valley ain’t cheap, and you’re also paying for the convenience of not driving to East Palo Alto for a can of spray paint or sterno. Well worth it.

It’s nice having a place that will have most things you need nearby in town. It’s not Home Depot nor is it price competitive with , but it’s great for just running down to in order to get what you need. The people who work there really know their stuff and are very helpful.

The inventory is excellent in this small store. For bikers it sells inner tubes and supplies. For gardeners it sells tools, fencing and fertilizers. For cooks it sells kitchen cleaning materials and select utensils. Pool owners can find chemicals and play toys. If you want to decorate they’ll mix your paint. There’s a wide range of glues and adhesives. They have excellent coconut doormats. The battery selection is larger than you might expect, but not as large as Fry’s. They have do-it-yourself items to rent — like a wood chipper and huge ladder. Mark Parris the owner will help you find what you need. His staff are all really helpful. When you’ve done your work you can pick up a chocolate bar and soothe your hands with Burt’s Bees cream.

Outstanding inventory and excellent assistance. The prices may be a little higher than the box stores, but that is exactly what pays for the knowledgeable staff(have you ever tried to get help at Home Depot?) and the extensive inventory.

I don’t understand why people are complaining about the premium prices at this hardware store since it’s: A) West of 280 B) The only hardware store in town. This store has everything one would need for just about any sort of home or garden repair or maintenance task. The staff is not only helpful, and Mark the owner is a walking encyclopedia of hardware knowledge and is always more than willing to offer useful advice.

This nice, well stocked hardware situated in lovely Portola Valley, has extraodinarily high prices! Four(count that 4!!!) AA batteries cost $ 7.40; even the upscale grocery next door sold the same 4-pack set of batteries for two dollars less. If money is no object and you live nearby, this is the hardware for you.
