When you go to Dr. St. Lawrence, your only complaint will be why he can’t be your own personal doctor! He is kind, funny, communicates clearly, listens carefully, and is very pragmatic about care for your pet. Meaning, he will outline all options, but never try to «upsell» you on the most costly tests and treatments. If your pet is sick, he will follow up with an email or call after the visit to check in. When our lab was diagnosed with cancer, he offered multiple times to come to our house if it would be easier on us and our dog. When the time came to finally say goodbye, I had our twin teenage daughters with me and he took the time to explain what would happen so that they could decide if they wanted to be in the room. His sensitivity helped my girls handle what was a very difficult moment. When we decided it was time to get another lab, he referred me to his own breeder. She recently moved to Hollister, but when we went to pick out our pup, she said he was the best vet and she still would make the drive to Portola Valley for her dogs’ check-​ups. The rest of the staff is as caring and friendly as Bill. You will not find a better vet or vet practice.

Bill is the best vet I’ve found in the Palo Alto area. Reasonably priced and doesn’t over react to problems. I’ve taken my two yellow labs to him for 10 years even though I have to drive there from downtown Palo Alto. He’s worth the trip!
