Jan is the nicest person I know. She really made me feel at home during my stay. The Inn was super clean and well kept. I really enjoyed the Railroad theme and décor. There is a great Italian restaurant within walking distance. Also several golf courses are nearby. I can’t wait to go stay with Jan again and bring my husband with me next time!

If you have reason to stay in/​near Portola, this is a great little spot. If I was in the area again, I’d stay there again.
The rates are very reasonable. The rooms are on the small side but efficient with everything you need, and there are common areas for lounging and a nice front (and I think back) patio. It’s B&B style but with a continental (not full) breakfast. A café is less than a block down the street — towards the train museum if you’re hungrier. A bar is less than a block the other direction.
The inn is train themed (as is much of Portola). The proprietor is an easy-​going dude with a mellow attitude.
