First the atmosphere is quite stifling inside. I would hesitate to go here once temps are over 70 degrees outside! The seafood was quite good and plentiful for bargain prices! Steak was almost inedible. Too much char. Service was ok. One waitress was obviously overworked on a Friday night. Location is such that parking can be a challenge. Drinks were super strong! Happy hour till 7pm so that meant they were cheap too@$ 2.50 per!

Great old building and pretty good beer selection. Floor is very dirty. Quality is that of a low grade chain. Under seasoned low quality ingredients. Wait staff uneducated about the menu.

Baron’s Pub can get really busy and loud but last night was perfect for me. I’ve been to Baron’s numerous of times in the past but I usually go later at night. Yesterday I went as early as 6:30pm and I was shocked by how empty it was but I enjoyed every minute of it. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered a Blue Motorcycle with the nice bartender and asked for a menu. I love the food at Baron’s, lately I’ve been hooked on their Sampler which is 9.99 and you can choose 3 different things from a list of about 8. I chose the chicken tenders, potato skins and jalapeño poppers and since the cook there is so awesome he even threw a couple fried shrimps, he’s the real MVP for that! I will keep coming back here for the good food and drinks, I just know to come earlier if I’m trying to avoid the large crowds.

Nice selection of menu items. Little expensive, but reasonable. Burgers are good. Don’t order any type of seafood item, not fresh at all. Least favorite burger is the surf and turf because the dry, prior frozen crab cake just ruins the burger. Even though the menu states it’s lump crab meat, it’s definitely not. Cowboy burger is a heap of greatness. Very tasty. Beer specials during happy hour were great. Décor and atmosphere were very run down and dirty.

Food was great had the black and Bleu loved it. I’m not a fan of blue cheese but it went great on the burger and they added Cajun seasoning which worked well with each other. Only gripe I had was asked the lady for bacon and no tomatoes and neither was taken or added, not a big deal. Service was fast and amazing.

Not impressed. Great old building with some fun old school signs but to crowded, to many tables and chairs for the space they have. Positives Its a bar, so there is alcohol to help you through the experience Negatives Crowded — like lots of people touching you crowded but they can’t help it since there really isn’t anywhere for them to go. Loud Food isn’t that good While the live music was trying so hard they have terrible acoustics in there Honestly they are a 1.5, and the charm of the building is what keeps it from being a 1. I wouldn’t go back if it was up to me.

2nd time at this establishment. Nice neighborhood bar feel. Menu was ok but enjoyed the beer and environment.

Honestly, my first impression a few years back almost drove me away(literally did as my friend I went to lunch with was unwilling to cross the threshold), but I’m glad I returned. They can get pretty busy with all the live music & the service industry people love to come relax after their shift. The last 3 – 4 meals here have been quite good as well. These range from Italian subs to tuna stk salads. They’re happily back in my rotation

I’m in town visiting and stumbled upon this amazing place with my boyfriend. We went in on a Wednesday not knowing it was $ 2 off burger day!!! There was no hesitation when it came to trying one of their highly unique burgers. I had the Carolina burger it has pulled pork and cold slaw on it. While my boyfriend had the Cowboy burger which was stacked high with fried cheese, bacon, onion rings all smothered in their signature bbq sauce. Oh and their fries were mouth watering!

Nice place to relax and get some food and drinks. Pretty relaxed atmosphere, with live music on the weekends. Wait staff could use some experience, but overall a good place to hang out.

I dined here in November and overall had a great experience. My only disappointment was my food order. I arrived about 6pm and happy hour was going on… oh yeah!!! Well drinks and drafts were at a good price and all appetizers were half off. I originally ordered the nachos and had a few special requests(minus xyz). So my order arrives and«xyz» are all over my nachos. I was so grossed out. The waitress(Kara) realized the order was wrong as she placed it front of me. As a result, no way was I going to eat them. I was all excited too… but oh well. I then ordered the spring rolls and blackened shrimp. While the spring rolls looked yummy they were super greasy. Me being super hungry, I ate them anyway and later on that night, they were not agreeing with my stomach :( Now the blackened shrimp, I did enjoy them. A friend of mine needed cocktail sauce to give them a little more kick. But I was pleased with them as is. While the food wasn’t spectacular, I enoyed the atmosphere and our waitress was a pleasure. Kara was pleasant and very personable when it came to ordering and recommendations. She just seems like a sweet young lady :) The place was packed. The bar area… standing room only. When I walked in there was one table left… had my name on it :) I would recommend you visit here… it wasn’t at all bad, I just had a few upsets but that comes with trying out something new. I had 2 well drinks and 2 appetizers and my total was under $ 20. I will visit again! There is an outside patio. I will definitely dine outside once the weather gets warm! Have fun :)

The bar is very local and very eclectic. Jukebox play was all over the place, from heavy metal to Cameo. Just like Candy… The prices are very reasonable and food is good. This one guy showed me some ambiguous text from his girlfriend. We spoke on the miscommunications within relationships. Then he bought me jäger shots.

Came in for lunch on a weekday, all tables were full inside, so we sat in the outdoor seating. My wife and I opted for a quick lunch today, so we both opted for a Baron’s Burger. Food was all right(pictured), We ordered our usual preparation: «Medium» and«Medium Well». Both of them came out well done and a bit on the dry side. Still good, just a little dry… Service did ‘remember’ we were in the outdoor area and checked on us often, but nearly an hour passed from the time we entered the place to when we got our food. —In summary, Barons seems like a good place to go to if hanging out with friends, and having a few beers. A great pub if you are going with the intent of hanging out for awhile. But didn’t seem like the place to go for lunch if you are on a limited-time lunch break due to the long wait for food to arrive.

Pretty good food, but I mostly drink here, always a fun a lively crowd, probably the only bar in Portsmouth, you will actually have fun in, decent beer selection, and They make massive trashcans that are delicious.

Little but of an old school TGI Fridays feel here with the wood panels and oldish flare on the walls. Pretty bright in here so it’s borderline for bringing a family in here. It’s Monday night so it’s tame now, but something about this place gives me the feeling it gets raucous. Half decent beer selection and typical beer food. Oysters are fried! I probably should have read more reviews but I was disappointed they weren’t raw. Steamed shrimp held me over anyways. Came with«butter» cocktail sauce, and a little cup of Old Bay. Table mates steak was overcooked, but luckily it was still a little pink. Nothing was special, nothing was terrible. I’d probably look for another place next time though.

Alright, I bumped them up a star. I came here on a Friday night. This is the type of pub I enjoy. A small, loud, fun joint. There were two guys playing guitars and singing. It was just a fun place to be. The service was good but I was a bit disappointed in the Guinness my boyfriend ordered. For one, the server poured it so terribly that close to half the beer was just foam. And then the beer tasted watered down. I picked the safe option and got a big mug of bud light. I only gave it that extra star because the ambience was enjoyable and good amount of fun. The live music gave it that small town feeling and a free spirit. Loved it.

Very challening to find a good place for dinner on a Saturday evening. Maybe because we didn’t have reservations and the Avett Brothers were playing at NTellos pavilion. This place had decent reviews and it turned out to be a very good choice for our group of five. I had the blackened scallops. Most everyone else either had the Ruben or the Baron Burger. Everyone thought their food was very good. The potato salad and the green beans were very good sides as well. Our server was Meliss and she did a great job evem though the place was packed.
