The system makes you give at least one star but The Churches chicken on Effingham in Portsmouth, Va is the worst. I only ordered corn and it was old and something I would not have served to anyone. When I got back to work to eat I couldn’t believe it. I called the restaurant to speak to the manager her name was Liz who needs to really work on her people skills. I was calm and explained to her about the corn, she did not want to hear it and proceeded to tell me no one else complained. Let’s just say I will never go back to this restaurant ever.

I haven’t visited here in years until a week ago! The chicken and corn tasted different from what I remember, but it was definitely greasy enough to make me not want to visit too many times! But that’s a good thing… cause I loved it that much! This place is a real treat if you don’t mind cheating on your diet! The corn on the the cob(full cob) was yummy and the chicke — the flavoring is so good!!! The biscuits… so good with butter and honey! My stomach is making noise right now as I type about it! But if you are ever in Portsmouth and you can handle the grease, give this place a try! They have other items to choose from, but I went here on a mission and it was fulfilled! The pricing is very reasonable. The area of town is ok. I wouldn’t suggest traveling here after dark on your own, but be cautious of your surroundings always. The pies… love love! I seriously doubt you will regret coming here! Have fun :)

Delicious is all that needs to be said, a quick snack right after church service. Fresh fried chicken, and those sweet butter biscuits. Ooohh it hit the spot along with a large sweetened ice tea. Yuumml Yumm.Never a dull moment at this Church’s chicken.

I love fried chicken! Even though Church’s is greasy and you feel sluggish after you eat it… it’s still super good!
