Decastro’s is worth of of a 5 star rating. The nauseous are stocked up to the max with healthy plants, flowers and trees. They have all the necessities needed to have a beautiful colorful summer garden. There is plenty of staff available to help and they will assist you to your car to load up all the plants. They have a wonderful produce section with local veggies and they carry a lot of local company’s such as Honey, canned relishes local sweet bread basically anything this area may be known for. I have been coming here for years and it seems it just gets better with time but the prices never seem to get outrageous so in turn I can load up me car and don’t feel like I won’t eat for a week.:) kidding. It’s worth checking out. I’m sure you’ll be satisfied. I shared my thoughts so let’s hear your experience.

For me, this is the best of the many garden plant stores on Acquidneck Island, and frankly in all of Rhode Island. It’s not fancy, it’s not overpriced, it’s not comprehensive… but you’ll find a really good selection of annuals, perennials and shrubs, many grown on the Island(not imported from some other nursery), at amazingly good prices. If you need plants for your garden, from apple trees to zinnias, go to Decastros first to get cheap, healthy plants. Then go to other garden centers for anything you didn’t find there. Plus, why not pick up groceries, including in-season local produce, Rhode Island-made cheeses, preserves and tortilla chips, as well as essentials like bread and milk, while you’re there? Only drawback — they’re never open Sundays. On the good side, they are open on all non-Sunday National holidays during the gardening season.

I enjoy going to the produce stand. The staff is always friendly and I’m always able to find local produce. It’s great especially if I miss the farmer’s market on Saturday.

DeCastro’s is a nice little farm stand that sells good produce, flowers, and locally-made specialties. Family-owned and happy to help, it’s a great place to stop when you’re looking for ingredients for your dinner or RI jams, honey, or other goodies. It’s unassuming from the outside, but you can get some good finds here.
