Very cute little convenience store in a very convenient spot. The owner is super super nice and every time I’ve needed anything, they’ve had it here and been open. To be fair, the things I have«needed» are wine, popcorn, and a cup of hot chocolate. It always annoyed me that Market Square News closed so early, and when I saw that Olde Port was open til 9 or 10, I was sold. Then, the day of the huge 2011 blizzard, the whole town basically shut down except for the Friendly Toast and Olde Port. The owner had a «it’s no big deal, I’m always open» attitude, but it was amazing to be inside and drinking some hot chocolate before we went back into the tundra. 4 stars only because it seems a bit sparse in terms of offerings. There could be more shelving on the walls to hold more stock, but currently all the nosh is on one middle island and there’s a little coffee machine, some beer and wine, and that’s pretty much it. Still, I’m sure the people who stay at the Hilton are supremely happy to have Olde Port here(and I am too!) Ps. The owner gives change in $ 2 bills and, if requested, $ 1 coins. Really fun to meet another fan of less-popular currency.

Olde Port Convenience is a new convenience store strategically located next to the Hilton Garden Inn, where the Yarn shop used to be. If you’re staying at the Hilton, this is where you want to pick up your drinks and munchies. If you’re a local who lives nearby, you’ll want to know about this place. It’s not as big as Portsmouth Provisions and it’s not full of pricey stuff like Taste of Portsmouth. It’s just a good honest little convenience store. Three stars is Unilocal’s designation for A-OK, and that’s what this store is. A-OK. Oh, and their web site isn’t up yet so I didn’t add it to the listing. Hopefully soon.
