Opa!!! Gyro Shoppe

Awesome place. Freindly too. Awesome service, clean place. And the gyros are some of the best I have had in a while. Definitely recommend this place and will go back again.

On the menu you can get the traditional gyro or the vegetarian (Falafel)
I’m a vegetarian and I love Falafel. The employees searched and searched (???) and could not locate any Falafel. Also had to wait a good 10 minutes in line before I was able to order something they didn’t have.
So I didn’t actually «eat» there. Went away hungry.
Will I waste my time stopping there again? Probably not.

Delicious and right-​priced food! Great service with friendly owners. The loaded potato salad is amazing and I always get some baklava to take home.

Swung thru this small town and was directed to this place for gyros. The restaurant was clean, run efficiently, super friendly staff, made the food to order right in front of me. I was surprised at how good the gyros were with tsazikj sauce, fresh ingredients, plenty of meat and great fries!

Great Gyro! Outstanding Fries and clean as you can get. A much welcome addition to the Portsmouth food scene. What the Ribber is to a Steak. Great but not the world’s best. The Fatanator say’s «I’ll be back Malaka «.

Food is great. I had the lamb/​beef gyro and a side of falafels. Atmosphere is odd… kinda like a Subway-​ish place. We tried to go for lunch today (Sunday) at 11:40 AM and it was closed… not sure what their hours are or if they vary. I recommend the food, but call ahead and make sure they’re open if you are driving very far.

This place has potential to be good. The main reason I’m leaving a review at all is so that the owners will read this and change some things.
First of all, you need to find a different way of portioning your meat. The plastic container that you are using over and over (gross) is a breeding ground for bacteria. Find a single use option or better yet use a different portioning method altogether.
Second, you need to offer complimentary drinking water (tap). This is the law.
Third, the pita tastes like it just came out of a plastic bag from the grocery store. If you are not going to make your own pita (hint, hint) at least heat it up in a delicious way. A flat top grill is the right choice or maybe a panini press would work.
Fourth, please put a hook somewhere in the bathroom. Every woman carries a purse and doesn’t want to lay it down. No touch paper towel dispensers would be nice too, but you’ll probably have to wait on that expense.
Fifth, create some ambiance. Play some music? This restaurant has only been open about two weeks and I saw 3 lightbulbs burned out.
Another thing that I think most people would like is better lettuce. People who are going to get the bowl, which is essentially a salad, do not want to eat shredded iceberg. They want a better, tastier more nutritious green (spring mix or romaine or green leaf).
As I sat down and ate half of my food (the pita was dry and cold) I noticed a major «bottleneck» at the beginning of the line. You had one person (a kid) doing all of the work. He made each meal from start to finish while one girl waited at the register to ring people up. There were two other people just standing there. I really have no idea what they were doing. It looks like you have a second area to prepare customer orders but it wasn’t being utilized. This is frustrating for customers especially when you are watching a worker leaning on the counter talking and doing absolutely nothing. The wait time is way too long. Chipotle, for example, has 3 – 5 people in a row fixing your meal. It is fast!
Again, I have to say the reason for this review is not to criticize. I really want this place to be good. I DO NOT want to see another failed business in Portsmouth. Please step it up!
