Delicious Oysters fresh out of the ocean and into my mouth. I was in heaven. There was something like 20 different kinds, so we tried two of each. We picked our favorite two and got 6 more of those. Oh, it was magical. I think I want to live here. Like, literally in this restaurant. The drinks were amazing. Super creative, strong and yummy(I had the chile vodka & olive brine cocktail and their version of a painkiller — omg). Staff was VERY nice — hostess even got me the hookup to a store where she buys her rings(since I am obsessed with rings and loved hers). We tried the smoked lobster tail and Arctic Char charcuterie board type app. It was delicious. As was the scallop crudo. We only make our way through NH once a year, and normally we never stay the night. My husband and I are now discussing spending a couple days here in Portsmouth next year just cause we fell in love with this downtown area. We will def be back next year! xoxo

Our first visit to Row 34, late June with no reservation. We had the great old bay onion rings, and a dozen plus oysters and a split mixed green salad. The service and attention were excellent, and the energy in Row 34 created by Molly, the Asst., Mgr., being all around the restaurant was very evident. Our servers Meghan and Colby were great too! We’ll be back SOON!

Can I get 10 stars? Buck a shuck for oyster of the day, until 5. DELECTABLE crudo — ANYOFTHEM — I would eat by buckets. IMPECCABLE service! Smoked scallops are crave worthy. A manager worth a million bucks… Gorgeous wine list… And that CORNBREAD with maple butter… DONTTOUCHIT, you will never look at cornbread the same way again! Came for a lazy Sunday lunch, walked away with our socks blown off. Clean, open, spacious. Everything you want in a seafood upscaled pub, and then some. I have always said that great service starts with great leadership. They certainly have one super star at the helm! I’ll drive from Hudson, MA anytime! GREATFOOD! Service, and bevande!

I absolutely love this place! Nice open floor concept that has the feel of a Boston restaurant. Super friendly bar staff, GREAT beer selection and a killer menu. We only had time for a couple of apps, the tuna crudo and the lettuce cups with roasted oysters, both were fantastic! Looking forward to my next visit to check out the rest of the menu.

Went here a few weeks ago. Had the raw oyster and clamp appetizer; it was fresh and delicious. The clamp chowder was very good as well.

Best restaurant and service experience in Portsmouth so far! We ordered the salmon collar(definitely a unique dish, although the meat largely tasted similar to a salmon steak) and the tuna crudo. Our server Rhiannon was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with ensuring we ordered the best possible items. I’d highly recommend checking it out while in town. Also, $ 1 oysters daily until 5 pm.

Overall I’d say this place is pretty good. I love the atmosphere and décor of the place itself. It’s everything you’d want in a seafood restaurant /raw bar… clean, bright and modern. I could see myself hanging out at the bar enjoying the raw bar and having a cold beer(nice and cold beer and a decent selection by the way). My complaint on the décor would be the seats at the tables(I can’t speak to the bar seats)…think of uncomfortable lawn furniture… metal and cold. The service was decent. Friendly staff, accurate order taking and fast enough(though not as fast as I’d like it) with the food and drinks. The food is really good. Super fresh and delicious oysters and seafood. Whoever is shucking their oysters does an amazing job… so cleanly opened(no shell inside) and the oysters just slide right in with nothing left behind. I have to say… It’s been a really long time since I’ve gotten oysters so perfectly prepared(and I eat a lot of oysters at different places). They were kind of expensive though. $ 3 an oyster is really pushing it in my book and they were all local so I’m not sure why they were so expensive. They did offer a $ 1 oyster option but there was only one kind… the rest were between 2 – 3 dollars each. The calamari… also amazing… so tender… the way it is supposed to be. Both of the people I was with enjoyed their meals. One got the fried oysters(perfectly cooked and delicious) and the other got a fish sandwich… again perfectly cooked, dry breaded and prepared. I was not so lucky. I got the fish and chips and they came in a thick, super doughy coating which was not crispy at all. I couldn’t even eat the dough so I cut through it(not as easy as it sounds) to get to the fish. Once inside the doughy coating(which made the meal look bigger than it was). I got two pieces of fish smaller than a Snickers bar. Ever bite into what looks like a big chicken finger from a Chinese take out place only to find an itsy bitsy piece of chicken inside? That’s what it was like. Anyway… the fries that came with it were amazing and almost made up for the lack of fish. I am not the type to complain about food in a restaurant… I either don’t order it again –if everything else was good-or a don’t go back but the person I was with complained about my fish and they took it off the bill which was very nice. As for the price… it was a rather expensive lunch –Over $ 200 for three people– but we enjoyed ourselves.

Came in on a Friday night before 6pm and were attended to immediately. We had a great waitress, Ariel, she recommended a mock cocktail for my daughter, beer tasting for my husband, a nice wine pairing to go with the oyster sampler that she also recommended. We shared the butter lobster roll and the beer and chips both were good. For appetizer we had the red snapper ceviche very good. The place has a nice vibe and got crowded quickly. Nice play to try NewEngland seafood. Thanks Ariel for a nice dinner experience.

Row 34, best Oysters on sea coast, always schuked in front of you on order! I have been here a dozen times and have never seen less than 6 Oyster varieties on the bar. Mel the adorable women shucker, no cool. Good drinks, great service, wonderful seafood. A must eat!

If eating the best food in the world is something you aren’t into then you probably shouldn’t come here. I have a relationship with their clam chowder and lobster rolls. I go through all the same emotions. I first get hypnotized by their look, I indulge in the meat of the relationship and finally I realize it’s over and I cry for a good week. Luckily there are more lobster in the sea for now. If you don’t eat here then you are a banana head. Oh and add dollar oysters into the mix and excellent service and you wonder if the experience of eating at this restaurant is a dream… Or an orgasm. I’m still not sure which.

Outstanding seafood in a fun and casual atmosphere Row 34 is easy to find in Portsmouth. A spacious restaurant with modern styling, most will easily feel at home here. The staff are friendly and helpful. They accommodated our toddler with no problem. The menu offer the usual seafood fare but with nice little creative twists. We started with the oysters and cocktail shrimp; all super fresh and perfectly prepared. My wife ordered the clam chowder which was delicious and creamy. I had the lobster roll which was nice a light without a lot of heavy mayo. It was a good portion of fresh lobster on a buttered roll. My wife had a terrific salad as part of her meal. We all ate a bit of my daughter’s mac and cheese since she was being fussy that evening! It was delicious. For dessert, we had the butterscotch pudding which was decadent and just perfect to finish our meal. We’d be back in a heartbeat if we lived in Portsmouth! Maybe we’ll try to one in Boston since that’s closer!

I had the coconut mussels as appetizer and the salmon for entrée. I have to say both were phenomenal… I was afraid the mussels were going to be too sweet in the coconut milk sauce but they were very well balanced with lime and thin cuts of hot pepper. The salmon was cooked to perfection and delicious. I also loved the potatoes and veggies that came with it. To top it all off the place was packed and service was quick and very friendly. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

Raw oyster was great. :) try the Daisy one! The bread they give you with butter is really good too. Had the lobster roll, it was delicious and had a lot of lobster meat $ 24. The calamari was tiny pieces … too tiny! Like eating crumbs but it taste good.

After living outside of Boston and not being able to make it to Row 34 downtown, we were thrilled to be able to com here during my boyfriend’s birthday trip to Portsmouth. We had a reservation and arrived a bit early. They were able to accommodate us almost immediately and were very organized and friendly at the host stand. Our server(cannot remember her name unfortunately) was awesome. She gave us great recommendations on cocktails and beers, and we quickly made our decisions. The Aviation was fresh and bright. Andrew enjoyed his IPAs. We started with 6 oysters which were shucked perfectly. All of them were fantastic(no surprise), along with the scallop ceviche(awesomely acidic and creamy at the same time), and the salt cod croquettes which were crunchy and salty and great. Then, Andrew had ordered the fried chicken, but unfortunately they were out that evening. He was really disappointed but ended up ordering the fish and chips which was absolutely amazing. I had the salmon with gnocchi, which was my least favorite of the evening. The salmon was overcooked which was really unfortunate, but the gnocchi were tasty. We also had sides of the mushrooms, which were so buttery and good, and mac and cheese, which of course was so good. I was able to find the server when Andrew went to the bathroom, and have her put in an order of ice cream as a birthday surprise. Luckily she played along nicely, bringing us dessert menus, followed shortly by the surprise dessert. Andrew was very happily surprised(luckily he was planning to order the ice cream anyways!) The server and I had agreed to ‘ball out’ the sundae, so I’m pretty sure every available topping was on that thing. What stood out was the delicious candied almonds and brownie pieces. Overall we had a fantastic visit… I’m already planning another trip to Portsmouth just to go here for dinner. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion, or as frequently as possible!

We were visiting Portsmouth and decided to drop into Row 34 to try the lobster roll and I’m glad that we did. I’ll get straight to the point, this was one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. You have the choice of either the warm butter or the creamy roll. I asked the waitress which one she preferred. She said both were good, but I could tell by the inflection in her voice she definitely like the butter roll better and that’s what I ended up getting. There was an ample amount of buttery lobster goodness surrounded by a soft bread lathered in even more butter. The lobster was super fresh and the entire dish was very filling. The chips that came with it seemed like they were made in house and provided a nice addition to the meal. It’s a little bit expensive at $ 21 but worth the price. We went for lunch, but the place also has a good amount of craft beers available. Good lobster and beer, you can’t really beat that combination.

Very upscale, from Boston. The fish tacos,(salmon) were very good($ 11). The Chowder was just OK at $ 9 it is not worth it… try Fresh Market on Rt 1, at $ 3 it is a deal.(Fresh Market changes their recipe often so it varies in quality, but you will always get your $ worth .) 34 is a really nice looking place, convenient across from the garage. It is fine for a business lunch, but could not recommend it for a gourmet dinner. The fries were decent and plentiful, enough to share. The coffee was really bad to boot. This is one of those places that looks outstanding, has good service but needs to work on the food.
