The bartenders and bouncers were extremely rude, harassed our group and used unprofessional cursing language as if we were delinquents while aggressively kicking everyone out for close, yelling«get out!» We were sitting at a table having a conversation over a glass of wine – no need to be treated this way. They sold us a drink then kicked us out for«close» five minutes later– twenty minutes prior to normal closing time. Felt violated and ganged up on, never experienced such rude behavior.

Sold a drink at last call and immediately after the entire staff ganged up on the patrons demanding that they leave immediately. Bar was full. This was 20 minutes before closing time. Staff harassed us to leave while it was pouring rain outside. Do not go.

Great scene to catch the best teams in sports(Bruins, Pats, Celtics, Sox). Unbelieveable food as well. Oh, and the friendliest, most beautiful bartenders you will ever get acquainted with!

Small, dirty and you can take long walks around town while you wait for your next beer.

A bar. Skip the food. A place for beer and sports fans.

If you’re looking for a great place to watch sports and feel at home, this is it! Always has the game on, fun music and the bar food is exceptional for bar food! You can create your own sangy!

I like this place and, evidently, so does the Portsmouth Herald’s restaurant reviewer(9⁄12 review). Friendly, good food creatively prepared, great beer selection, clean …

BEWARE, they STEAL from you. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Not only does it smell like the rug hasn’t been cleaned since it opened and the beers are warm, they can now add stealing to their repotoire. I used to frequent this bar when I visited family in Portsmouth. I could always get over the warm beers since they were so cheap and always had the games on. Well? Never again. Last Saturday night I accidentally left my card at the bar. They closed out the card and added a $ 17 tip on a $ 55 drinks only bar tab. Are you KIDDING me? When I tried to discuss this with the owner, she was very rude and short. She said they add a 25% tip on tabs left opened only it’s not STATED anywhere. Legally, it needs to be stated somewhere. Also, last time I checked 25% of $ 55 is $ 13 and change. NOT $ 17. So they’re either really bad at math, or just plain LIARS. I think the latter. Needless to say I will NEVER return to this bar again. Just poor, awful customer service to do that to a good patron. I would have gladly left them 20% when I closed out my tab. Clearly, the people who run this place have no ethics, or sense of how to run a business.

I am one of the locals that goes to TJs. I am not completely hammered every time I go there — although this is a great place to meet old friends and do just that. If you’re not a Portsmouth local — or didn’t grow up with the people that are — I would suggesting sitting at the bar on the right upon entering, because most of the locals avoid that side.

First off, Tequila Jacks is now known as TJs. It is a great casual place to watch any sporting event. They just started a Sunday brunch from 11am — 2pm, with a wide variety of menu items. Their lunch/dinner is great, huge sandwiches, great wings. If you are not into the sports thing, they do have a separate lounge area on the other side of the bar. It has leather couches, tables and its own bar. The crowd is mixed and can get crowded late.
