Really disappointed in the owner, Craig. Apparently too lazy to file paperwork in order for me and others I know to access the gym through health insurance. «We believe your health is worth more than $ 10 a month and we expect you to show up… not for us… For you.» Well that obviously doesn’t apply for everybody. Thanks for your support in helping everyone achieve their health and fitness goals… Horrible customer service.

Best gym ever! Plenty of equipment, affordable and access to all other Vanguard locations in the Seacoast Area. NO staff in your face bothering you or trainers attempting to solicit you. Just a gym to get work done. Bonus: No lunk alarm

I suggest you stop presuming and do more about cleanliness. You might also invest in more up to date equipment.

Zachary is right. This place is worn out. It has location seriously going for it, plus the fact that there is a TON of free weights and never a line to get on just about any equipment. I’m aware that it is cleaned only 3 days per week. This needs to be doubled if you ask me. In addition, the bathrooms need some $$$ finally put into them. They are falling apart. It’s a bit shocking that they are looking to franchise with this as their corporately owned property. You can only bleed so much money out of folks before they finally give up their membership and go back to PF for 1⁄3 the price.

Vision Fitness’s location is superb, and everything else is sub-par at best. If you work in downtown Portsmouth, there’s no way to beat the way Vision Fitness is situated within a 5 minute walk of Market Square, next to free parking. And that’s the only reason I go to this overpriced gulag. It’s one thing to use key-cards, but it’s another to have a staff that is virtually never on the premises. I can’t see that the staff visits even daily, and as a result the facilities are falling into decay. Messes in the locker rooms and bathrooms often stay untouched for 3 or 4 days at a time. As such, the showers are often disgusting(those that work — one rusty and moldy shower is kept perpetually curtained off because it’s missing a head.) Half of the TV’s don’t work, and one of the«working» ones is starting to have picture issues. Many of the lockers are broken. Paint and paneling are coming off the walls. The ductwork is currently leaking into two trash barrels, and has been all week. It’s a disgrace. Given that the membership is TRIPLE the price of similar, weights-and-machines-only gyms in the area, and that those competitors offer service on site as well as somewhat hygienic facilities, Vision Fitness literally charges for location only. I can only hope that someone opens a new gym in the Portsmouth downtown soon, so I can leave this festering shamble of a gym behind.
