Delicious! I love buying challah from Breadsmith– my family gets it every week! I also love their pastries and desserts, and I never want another sandwich on bread other than their sourdough!

We LOVE all the different challah breads(pretzel, cinnamon pretzel, chocolate chip, cranberry…)! Have also special-ordered their French peasant bread in the shape of a turkey for the past two Thanksgivings– big hit! –and makes AMAZING grilled cheese sandwiches to go with turkey soup! My daughter devoured an entire loaf of their pumpkin bread by herself and we love their orange and chocolate/chocolate chip dessert breads!

Breadsmith is my favorite place to pick up a challah, every week I get a different kind of challah and they are all delicious. I also love the scones, brownies, cookies, and cakes. It’s hard to decide how to limit myself from bringing everything home with me.

I just love their breads! My friend brought me over a chocolate chip bread for a holiday party and I cant’ stop eating it. Also love the pumpkin loaves and even the French bread, brownies, etc. A hidden gem in the cabin john shopping center. YUM!

Considering that there’s a fine kosher bagel bakery a few steps away, there is NO reason to go here. The breads are decidedly inferior.

I visited(4÷17÷15) although visited a few other times this is my first Breadsmith review. The double chocolate muffin delicious. Very dense texture & chocolate flavor w/rich chocolate chips baked inside.

A special morning treat that’s a great takeout-only alternative to Starbucks a few doors down. Opens at 7:00 a.m., with fresh scones and muffins(my favorite is the orange chocolate chip). The cheerful, friendly young man at the counter is helpful and knowledgeable, always says hello, and greets me by name. If the coffee was as delicious as the baked products, I’d come here every morning.

Five stars for challah only. Our family started buying challah’s here on Fridays. We used to buy at Great Harvest on Rockville Pike, which is excellent. Breadsmith is outstanding. The flavor and texture of the challah is unbeatable. We like the everything challah, which sorta tastes like a bagel. Texture is dense, obviously high gluten flour. I once bought a scone, which looked great, and was just ok. I have not tasted any other baked goods. The bakery is kosher-supervised, which is a plus. Service is good. Workers appear to be teens, and they seem well trained. I appeared at the bakery on a Friday morning when they opened(7AM) on the way to work. On the dot at 7 they unlocked the doors and sold me a challah, like clockwork.

they advertise as a peanut-free and nut-free environment, but they are not a fly-free environment. I walked in there today and saw a fly sitting on top of one of their brownies. I made a comment to the head clerk, and she was very flippant about it, as if she were ignorant of the fact that flies lay their eggs in rotting matter and dog excrement, particles of which they carry on their legs — mm, special secret ingredient for that brownie! Another customer in the store was also grossed out. Their products are OK, but their sanitation bows to «old-world charm,» i.e., no coverings for the displayed breads.

Awesome kosher bakery, under rabbinical supervision. All pareve products(no animal products, no dairy either). Wonderful dessert«breads and cakes»; my fave is pumpkin chocolate chip. Excellent challah, the«everything» challah is loaded with fragrant savory onion/garlic/poppy seeds, etc. like an «everything» bagel. Huge, chocolate chip cookies. And their take on the traditional Italian pannettone(only available around holiday time) was great, too. Go early to get the freshest stuff of the day; they will often sell out of some items by late in the day. You can find similar items cheaper elsewhere, but not as good. A great addition to the Potomac/Rockville kosher community.

I went here for the first time today to get some baked goods for gifts. The place was much smaller than I expected and the setup is strange with the breads displayed on one side, but roped off and having to wait for an employee to notice you and assist. From the website, it looks like they have all kinds of bread, but what they had on hand was slim and even the listing here was signicantly less. If I read it correctly, they have different items depending on the day of the week. I was going to get the individual size coffee cake, but they were out, so I got the shortbread cookies the lady suggested. I tried them later and it didn’t seem all that fresh and multiple pieces were broken. For being a bakery and the cost, it was a disappointment, think I would have been better off going to the Giants next door. To give them the benefit of the doubt, it was mid-afternoon and they could have been winding down for the day. Still compared to other bakeries, even their listed selection seemed small and the quality wasn’t there for what I sampled. Perhaps go early in the day and try one of their artisian breads, if you’re ok with whatever they have … Note they are closed on Saturdays.

I don’t know what took me so long to stop by here; they’ve been open for over six months now. I’ve loved Breadsmith breads for a long time. They are franchised and this is the first one I’ve seen in Maryland. Their breads are so good, all you need is butter. I prefer a simple Italian boule, but they readily have at least ten varieties at all times with special varieties on given days. Challah is an option you will find here, but not at other locations. The place is Kosher, so don’t plan to pop in Saturday morning for your weekend breakfast. The bread is the crusty variety which I love. Don’t forget to ask for a loyalty card — buy 12 loaves get one FREE. It won’t take you long to fill your card once you’ve bought your first luscious loaf.
