We have been eating at Momo Taro for years and really enjoy it, so we were surprised to see some of the reviews here. Several of our friends also eat here regularly and love it as much as we do. I’ll be honest and admit that we have not tried many things on the menu because we have been totally obsessed with one thing: the unbelievable No Name rolls! We cannot recommend them enough. We often make a special trip to Momo Taro just to get them. If you have not tried the No Name rolls, trust us, you’re missing out on a perfect sushi roll!

3.5 stars This place isn’t changing the game on sushi nor would I consider even close to the best that I have ever had either. But you get what you pay for which is decent sushi that far exceeds buying it from Giant. I don’t think the food is pricy and for what you get it’s not bad portion size at all.

So not worth it! I came here once a few years ago because I work nearby and I remember getting some delicious, really interesting dishes. So today, when I stopped in for lunch, I expected the same… not even close. All they have is the basic rolls for more than average price and for what you pay, the rolls are small and the fish isn’t fresh. I can go to Taco Grill or Raku in Bethesda and get way better food for the same price or even go up to Yuraku in Germantown where I can get more for less money. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because it’s clean and service was quick.

Terrible sushi just plain awful the fish smells and the presentation is awful it does look like cat food the rice is mushy and it is served on paper plates you buy from the grocery store. Worst sushi in the area by far

Fast food sushi. Not good. Even the California rolls tasted fishy. As for the yakisoba noodles, even by fast food standards, was nearly inedible. Don’t go to this joint. Spare yourself. Please.

My friend and I had a hankering for sushi, and this was the closest place to her house so we decided to give it a try. I wish we had explored the Pike. This is probably some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had. You immediately recognize it’s old when you look at it, and when you put it in your mouth you realize the truth. It’s fishy, mealy and horrible. I couldn’t even finish one of the rolls. On the plus side the sushi is cheap, but I don’t think it’s worth the lack of quality. It wasn’t exactly lunch or dinnertime and no one else was around, so it’s possible they were just short-staffed. The service was pretty terrible also, they didn’t give me my drink until I asked for it a second time. It wasn’t all bad, one of the rolls was fairly ok, and my friend said the salad was alright. As for me, I’ll go somewhere else.

This was the closest place to my house and I was craving for sushi this weekend. I ordered 2 California rolls, 1 Shrimp Tempura roll and 1 Volcano roll. I read the other reviews and was hopeful but not expecting to be great. CA roll was okay not great. It is not the standard mayo shredded crab meat kind but 1 piece of crab meat. Volcano roll was the CA roll but with a hot melted roe on top so not the standard ingredients for $ 8.95 roll! At $ 7.95, Shrimp Tempura was the one I felt the most disgusted with. They give u ¼ of slice shrimp filled the rest with filling and then the batter. How can people do business like this. It is not I paid $ 1 for it. I am not kidding it is not ½ sliced shrimp but a thin sliced ¼ of a shrimp. I would NEVERNEVER come back to place this again. They give other small mom and pop sushi place a bad reputation.

This place sucks. Libby F is dead wrong: sushi is NOT sushi. I just bought some sashimi and sushi, and the fish was mushy – the salmon was even slimy. This fish was well on its way to becoming cat food – or worse. No texture, even in the ebi tempura. The octopus was spongy and waterlogged, just salty. I’m worried about how my GI tract is going to react and if I’ll get my kids sick. By far the worst sushi I have ever had. If you want cheap california rolls for lunch, you’ll probably survive the experience, but for anyone who wants real sushi – avoid. I now live a couple of blocks away and will definitely drive further to find acceptable sushi. This was disgraceful – and disgusting.

Love the lunch special. Hard to beat 2 rolls & salad or miso soup for $ 6.51. The sushi was good, the miso soup was good — nuf said! I will definitely be back again and again.

I wouldn’t make a special trip here. Sushi is sushi, but if you live or work in the area this place is worth a visit. I just started working in Cabin John so this place is hard to resist. Their sushi lunch specials(Mon-Fri) are cheap. $ 6.51 for two roll combinations and a miso soup or salad. I got two orders of California rolls because I am just that unadventurous. They were good. They were fresh. They hit the spot. What more can I say? I actually switched it up once and got their Volcano Roll(crab, avocado, cucumber, fish roe, scallions and spicy mayo). That was yummy, but for $ 8.95 it is more frugal of me to order the lunch special during the lunch hour. Someday I will be more adventurous, but until then I will stick with what I know I like best: My old faithful California roll.
