I had the privilege of being a guest today at the Potomac Squash Club. It was a wonderful find for me. PSC is very accessible off a main road(Montrose) on a less-traveled access road with convenient parking, just steps from its front door. The club has three International singles courts in good condition. They are lighted well with good contrast colors for easy tracking. There is no WHITE dress code, but you should wear non-marking shoes and protective eyewear as required most clubs. There is some light exercise equipment and some free-weights for warm-up/stretching, etc. There is comfortable viewing of squash play from a walkway just off the cozy lounge area with a TV. PSC is a pleasant, community squash club with engaging, friendly members, consistent with the welcoming nature of squash players found throughout the world. PSC has a very home-like feel and it’s clear there is a sense of family among its members. There is no staff, other than the squash pros. The club is run by the volunteer efforts of its caring membership. As such, there is no receptionist. Access to the club is via key card, essentially, but there is a doorbell for guests. Best to call in advance to arrange play, if you are a guest or prospective member. I recommend playing here. I would join if I lived in the area. I look forward to visiting again during my future visits.

This used to be the best club for squash players in the area. Unfortunately, a squash pro moved in and the court time available for members has been limited: e.g., on Sunday there is one court for 100+ members. If you are interested in participating in clinics, taking lessons, etc. this is the right place. if you’re interested in playing squash a few times a week with another member, look for another club.

I have discovered that squash is not too popular in the DC area with a serious lack of squash products anywhere. However, the Potomac Squash Club houses the local squash enthusiasts. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help. :) The Potomac Squash Club is located right off the intersection of Montrose and Seven Locks Roads next to a Maryland State Police station. There isn’t a receptionist so it’s probably best to email or call ahead of time to see when there will be someone around. Otherwise, mornings seem to be pretty popular. There are 3 international standard squash courts. Keep in mind that you can only use non-marking shoes.
