It’s not great food — think of it as the equivalent of a Sizzler or Hometown buffet. However, they do have some gems that I enjoy eating: When on the menu, the fried shrimp po boy is actually quite tasty. Soft, toasted french roll with lots of crispy shrimp. Not bad at all. The second thing, the fried chicken wings. A little peppery, crispy on the outside, and juicy in the center — these are quite delicious and can be taken to go. Everything else is standard buffet fare.

I ordered the sirloin steak, terrible you couldn’t cut it and you couldn’t chew it and it had no taste. Could only eat baked potato and that was Luke warm not even hot. Won’t go again.

This is a really great place to eat. The food is always fresh and they have a really good variety. If you like salads, the selection of salad ingredients is fantastic too. The people who work on keeping the buffet stocked do a great job and keep it clean and inviting. My wife and I have noticed that the price has increased a bit over the last few years — but I still think it is one of the better places to go in this area. Another thing that I really respect from the Ponderosa is they honor Veterans with a free meal on Verterans Day! I think that is great. I always look forward to making a trip to Potsdam so we can stop by and have a very nice meal in a really great restaurant. Thanks Potsdam Ponderosa, keep up the great work.

People would typically say, «Ew,» «Gross,» or «Don’t go there» whenever I mentioned the restaurant Ponderosa. I never understood why, till I finally dined there with my friend. At first glance, this place reminded me of Sizzler, a restaurant that is typically located in the west coast. My friend ordered the salad bar and I ordered the sirloin with grilled shrimp. I was pretty happy with my meal, until about two minutes into my drive home. I began to experience the worst stomach pains, and I knew, I needed to get home soon or there would be a messy accident. After my experience with Ponderosa, I warned all my friends to never dine there. A few weeks later, despite my warnings, a friend of mine decided to eat there. Unfortunately, she wasn’t as lucky as I was to make it home on time. Let’s just say, she probably had to throw away a pair of pants. Food at Ponderosa is pretty tasty and let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good salad bar, but after being sick, I would never eat there again. Lesson learned…

This place is really awesome to eat with the family and get your money’s worth! I suggest choosing their dinner buffet than eating their separate entrees($ 20 per plate). The buffet is only $ 10.99 per adult and $ 3.99 per child. Not to mention that its relatively a lot healthier and not sketchy looking like the Asian Buffet next door. I had my boyfriend’s 7-year-old little sister get a tour and choose whether she wanted to eat here or the Asian Buffet place– she chose here without hesitation haha! Also, the desserts here are delicious :)!

There are lots of healthy choices here– and for the price you– cannot beat it– you just have to be careful not to cave into temptation — the desserts are cheap and highly processed as well as some of the entrees– just look around at the clientelle… this is a feeding frenzy for the obese– so make better choices with the fresh salad entrees on the salad bar — and you can be a winner at a great low price!
