Ryerss Farm For Aged Equines

We live right down the road from Ryerss Farm and visited today. Ryerss is a retirement home for horses and a safe haven for horses that have been abused. The location is beautiful. As you drive up the long driveway you can see all the pastures filled with horses. There’s parking by the main office and you just go in and sign in. There’s a small gift shop located in there as well. Around to the side you are able to enter the barn. Make sure to bring apples (quartered) and carrots (cut into chunks/​baby carrots) to feed the horses. They have small baskets with a handle available for kids (or adults) who are nervous about hand feeding these magnificent creatures! My boys (3 yr and 1 yr) and I had a wonderful morning wandering around with our bag of carrots. All the staff we spoke to were nice and helpful. The cost to tour the farm and feed the horses was free but donations are always welcome. We’ll definitely be back!

A retirement home for horses!
How sweet is that? This farm takes in old horses that may have retired from a police force, or whose owner can simply no longer keep them. Go, bring the kids, and visit these wonderful creatures, bring them treats and discover their stories.
