This review is for the restaurant. l felt transported to somewhere that was not Pottsville. Jim Thorpe’s historic district, maybe. It’s good though because Pottsville needs more restaurants that provide a refreshing escape. The atmosphere felt very cozy and vintage like dining in grandma’s kitchen. The tablecloths are white lace with antique China. The air smells musty which can take some time getting used to. Let me assure you one thing — there is one dining area and you will have to wait until a place opens up unless you have reservations. There’s a few ladies that will take care of you throughout the meal and they are all so incredibly kind and personable. Everything is homemade. Don’t be in a hurry because everything is done slowly here but with thoughtful attention and care. You will be tempted to put your phone away at the table and I sure hope you do! There’s parking available in the bank lot across the street. Tokens are available in the lobby upon departure.

Great experience! We went in for the Sunday Brunch and were amazed. Décor was typical of a Bread and Breakfast. A lot of nice pieces/pictures. A great picture of the Schuylkill River before it was diverted. Showing some Pottsville history, NICE! Coffee and tea service was offered right away and was exceptional. Was some fine tasting coffee and tea. Before our 3 course selections were made mimosas were offered. Who’s going to turn that down? Glad to see a pleasant surprise. 1st course: Eggnog and spice scones had a great flavor and served with a cinnamon butter. Seemed like a very nice beginning. 2nd course: Chunky & creamy tomato soup tasted like it was made from scratch. It’s about time someone gets it around here. Lightly creamy not heavy at all and little chucks of tomato here and there to get some bursts of tomato acidity which balanced the soup just fine. Baked ham salad croissants, you can tell it was real ham because of the texture and the light smokey flavor. Certainly not a processed lunch meat ham. Croissant on the other hand was a little iffy. I’d bet it was a prefrozen one but hey, who has time to make fresh croissants any more? Vegetable and feta cheese frittata, Ahh the cousin to the quiche. No crust. This was great. Light and fluffy egg with interlaced assorted vegetables and docked with feta. Well done. Mixed greens topped with coated peanuts, pears, parmesan cheese and drizzled with cranberry vinaigrette, Seems like salads fall short around here.(The SKOOK) The peanuts are there for a crunchy texture, I get that but it wasn’t translated well here, I would’ve gone with some other cheese, maybe something creamy. Just not goat, too over played. Cranberry vinaigrette seemed to lack a certain tartness and the pears weren’t sweet enough to round it all out. Salads are something that should speak for themselves. Don’t over think it. Sometimes all you need is just some greens and a really good olive oil. 3rd course, Cherry chocolate chip cake and pumpkin cheesecake bars, nice way to end a great experience. Paid the bill and was taken on a tour of the building. Like I stated before, typical B&B décor setting with some historic pieces. Great job Allison keep doing what you’re doing. I actually forgot I was in Pottsville for an hour. Like Arnold says in his movies… «I’ll be back!»

Upon arrival, the Maids Quarters Bed and Breakfast doesnt exactly scream out stay here. But once you are inside its a whole new world! First you are greeted by Allison who is absolutely perfect and soooo sweet. She made us feel at home every minute of our stay! Breakfast was complimentary and mouthwatering. The rooms are exemplary and very comfy! It isa place that I would recommend to stay at even if just passing through Pottsville. Five stars isnt enough!

This is a wonderful place. It is charming and Allyson is wonderful and her breakfast is so yummy! My husband said«best omelet ever». Wifi works, the room, sitting room and bathroom are roomy, and we are enjoying our stay. Definitely recommend and I will return.

Everything I read about The Maid’s Quarters turned out to be true. Not only was it true, but it defied my own expectations. I always reserve a little skepticism to the most flattering reviews so I assumed something, somewhere, would disappoint me. Nope. Nada. Not a thing. We stayed in the third floor apartment. Notice I didn’t say«room». It really felt like an apartment and the photos I have seen up to now of that space, really didn’t do it justice. You walk into a tiny kitchen, stocked with snacks, water, soda and coffee. I loved how the fridge was«hidden» and it took me awhile to figure it out. That room opens into the living/dining area with a settee, little fireplace, and a table with chairs. Off to the side is the bathroom complete with a claw foot tub and skylight. Beyond the living area is the sitting room with a daybed, retro radio and one of my favorite things in the world — a window seat! I sat there to write in the guest book about our stay. Then you have your bedroom with a large, comfy brass bed and a tiny TV which we never even turned on. That alone made me want to move in for good. But there’s more! My boyfriend had arranged a birthday package with Allyson and the room was stocked with beer, wine and glasses, homemade cookies and a cheese platter. There was also a sweet note from Allyson wishing me a happy birthday and letting us know we can keep the wine glasses, from a local winery. Other little details included the handmade soap in the bathroom, the cute cruets full of liquid soap and the bath salts for the tub. Breakfast in the morning was another treat. There was a choice or orange and cranberry pancakes or a ham omelet. I had the pancakes, my boyfriend had the omelet. Allyson took our order and got busy in the kitchen after she brought out some homemade banana bread. !!! So good! Again, the little details abounded with lace tablecloths, sugar cubes in china with dainty silver spoons… it was never overdone and made you feel like you are just visiting a relative you haven’t seen in forever. Really a magical place. This is all thanks to Allyson and you can see she really cares about the space, your comfort and your experience while there. I’m actively plotting a reason to head to Pottsville again soon and stay another night on the third floor. The Yuengling Brewery is nearby and touring that seems like it is definitely in my near future. P. S. A few days after our stay we received an envelope and assumed it was a thank you note from Allyson. It was my necklace! I must have dropped it in the room. Thank you Allyson!

The best B&B my girlfriend and I have been to yet! The accommodations are spectacular, comfortable, cozy, and inviting! Allyson is extremely warm and friendly and what an amazing cook she is! The maids suite was perfect from the free delicious homemade cookies to the super comfy bed, and the breakfast was out of this world! It is beyond delicious and will leave you wanting more after you finish your plate! There’s so much right within walking distance for restaurants and bars as well! Do yourself a favor and come stay at The Maid’s Quarters Bed and Breakfast when you come to Pottsville, you won’t regret it!

Best little secret in Pottsville. Cozy, Charming, and Warmth is the best way to describe this place. And with all the little treats that are left about, makes you feel like your at an upscale Grandmom’s house. Clean. Modern Amenities. Better than a hotel! Glad this was part of my Xmas vacation…

The Maid’s Quarter’s really has no competition if you’re staying in Pottsville. The house is old, beautiful, well-kept. Allyson might be the nicest person I have ever met. The rooms are quiet, cozy, and welcoming with fresh cookies and treats scattered about. There is also books scattered about if you need something to read! We had two breakfast options; an omelette w/feta cheese, spinach and chicken sausage or orange-honey pancakes. Both were great and made 10 feet away by our host. Served with fresh fruit, warm banana bread and coffee/tea, it was the perfect way to spend the day. Parking across the street in the lot is extremely convenient and easy. For about 100 bucks a night(which is a steal) you get far better service and food than any hotel you will find nearby!

Lovely lovely lovely. Allyson is a wonderful hostess and accommodated all of our odd thru-hiker needs without the blink of an eye. The B&B is very cozy — has the«you can actually sit and enjoy the space» feel as opposed to the«look and don’t touch» vibe. Coffee, tea and treats were readily available along with fresh baked cookies in the room upon arrival! We stayed in room 3 with the private bath and private entertainment room(TV, DVDs, couch, etc). The bed is AMAZING, super comfortable linens and robes as well. Breakfast was a choice between a fancy omelette and fancy french toast — we both had the french toast and were very pleased. Pre-main meal Allyson served a delicious cranberry bread — it was bomb! Overall, I would highly recommend this fine B&B.

Definitely recommend. I stayed here one weekend for a family reunion and the owner was the sweetest thing ever! She even catered to my dietary restriction(gluten intolerant) for the breakfast AND welcome cookies in the room. And that’s all on top of the cute, rustic(in a good way) charm! Stay here, you won’t regret it.

My boyfriend and I spent one night here while en route to Cherry Springs state park from Philadelphia to go stargazing and we had a lovely experience! Alyson, the innkeeper, was so gracious to accept our late check-in and never failed to pull out all the stops on what you’d expect from a bed and breakfast experience — homemade cookies awaiting you upon your arrival, cozy bathrobes hung up in the bathroom, and a Kuerig in the tearoom! She was genuinely sweet, personable, and it showed in the ambience of the B&B. If coming through this area(maybe to visit the Yuengling brewery) I definitely recommend you stay here for a full Pottsville experience.

Need to be enchanted for a weekend? Have a birthday, anniversary, apology, or just a weekend getaway to fulfill? Allyson’s b&b is the place to do it. She was a wonderful host — and filled the room with finishing details like fresh cookies and homemade soap. Breakfast was scrumptious too! The place seems untouched by time(besides of course the electricity and convenient wifi) — but Allyson keeps all the vintage décor spic and span. Very clean, very quaint, very wonderful!
