Best Indian food in the entire area… actually some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. If you like Indian or just want to change up the vibe from your classic diner routine, check this place out.

May 2014. Oh so sorry to hear that Cinnamon has closed. Cinnamon, how I love you. I actually CRAVE this place, and frequently. Now, for instance… The lunch buffet is plentiful and varies at least a little every time I go. Unfortunately I can never remember the names of the dishes but I can’t recall having anything I didn’t like. I particularly enjoy the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken(?) and dishes with sauce in which to dip the naan bread(to die for). I try at least a little of everything and always come away stuffed. The service is friendly and attentive and the price is very reasonable in my opinion, around $ 13.

More like 2.5 stars. Here’s why. Dear restaurateurs of Dutchess County: 6 months out of the year, at least, we turn the heat on in our homes. When you keep your restaurants cold in the cooler months, we, as customers, assume that you are doing the same thing we all do when we turn down the thermostat — trying to save some cash. This is NOT a good signal to send to your customers when they walk in the door. Trust me on this… the first thing my wife says? «Ooh, it’s pretty chilly in here.» Once we get beyond that, I have to say that while the portions here are plentiful(unlike the sibling restaurant in Rhinebeck…) — you really cannot serve your customers overcooked, dried out chicken and lamb — no matter how much sauce it is slathered in. The Lamb Korma — while the Korma sauce was tasty, did not hide the fact that the lamb was totally destroyed. And the chicken in the chicken biryani? Well, it had nowhere to hide… so the chefs just loaded the dish up with black pepper. I like heat, and asked for spicy — so I expected some burn — but all I got was black pepper, enough to make me cough and choke and bit. Which still didn’t do anything to fix the problem of the chicken being sent out of the kitchen as if it had made a pitstop at Mavis Tire first. Service is fine, ambiance is fine, etc. etc. The food just isn’t worth it though. There are better Indian options around, even if it means heading down to Fishkill.

I dined here for dinner a few nights back with a group of friends. The restaurant was not busy at all and I hope that they are doing a lot of business because the service, food quality and ambiance was very nice. It would be nice to see a new, local restaurant do well in this area near Marist College. According to all of my dining partners, everyone– myself included– really enjoyed their meals. While prices seem to be a little above average, they don’t miss the mark too much. The quality of the food and the service were the real highlights, though, and I look forward to coming back again. Apparently Cinnamon features a lunch buffet, which I will definitely make a point of partaking in very soon!

I had been wanting to go to this restaurant ever seen I saw it late last year when I went to Mole’ Mole’s new location right next door and was having a serious preggo craving for burritos. Fast forward to the friday before due date(re: 2 days before my due date), and I was seriously digging some spicy food so I could possibly induce labor since I was ready to serve my daughter an eviction notice. Upon entering the restaurant, I was instantly impressed with the quaint but romantic ambiance. It was very sweet in there, and something about the rain outdoors encouraged that, especially with the small votives sparkling on every table. It was a little difficult to get a server to take our drink order at first, but then one of the owners came to take our order and instantly noticed I was as big as a house. When I told her when I due, she told me that many pregnant women had come to her restaurant to eat spicy food and induce labor. She had even got thank you cards from women who avoided the nasty pitocin drip because of her spicy food! So I was pretty excited. So onto the food! I had a delicious mango lassi to start, not too thick with a good amount of mango flavor. To be super nitpicky, I would have liked a little more mango flavor to compliment the tart yogurt but it was still pretty good. Then onto the appetizers — the calamari is OUTOFTHISWORLD(yes, it deserves all capital letters!). The spice was perfect and the calamari was so tender! It will make you question why you eat that rubbery, fried crud from the diner. For dinner, I ordered my go-to dish that I’ve had in so many indian restaurants and I use as a barometer to see a restaurant’s style of cooking — Navarrthan Korma. It’s basically a rich, mild vegetable curry made with coconut milk and cashews. I was slightly disappointed — the flavor of the sauce was not very developed and it didn’t marry well with the vegetables. The best veggie korma tastes like it has been cooking for days — this tasted like it had been cooking for a couple hours. The naan was great — I ordered the plain and hubby ordered the garlic. I did not try his because I had a huge garlic aversion during pregnancy, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not have dessert, but I would like to try it next time. Although I’ve never been a fan of Golub Jamun because of the texture — oh well! All in all, I would love to come here again and try some of their seafood dishes. If their calamari is any indication, I bet they will be out of this world.

Very good. Tried their dinner(not buffet) Yellow dal was one of the best i have tried in Indian rstrnts, good vegetarian samosas, coconut rice and very decent jumbo prawns dish(forgot the name but it was very delicious). minus star for Nan bread(we usually trying to avoid wheat but decided to «cheat«and went for a «thrill» but it didnt worth it. It ok but definitely not excellent. on a mushy side with not enough crisp and tandoori flavor to it. But place is good and we will be back to try more!

This is an awesome place. The food here is really great and I’m excited it’s so close. The lunch buffet is the real excitement and deal here, only $ 10 for lunch. The buffet usually has on it a salad, some chutneys, an appetizer, 5 entrees which seem to vary, rice, naan, and dessert. Dinner entrees are a little pricey, but full of flavor. Make sure to order them super spicy. Service has been great when I’ve gon

I was 90% certain Cinnamon Bistro was affiliated with Cinnamon in Rhinebeck just by the name… then 95% when I came in for lunch and found a buffet of the same style, with unique or less common but still interesting offerings… 99% certain when the buffet included freshly cooked tandoori chicken brought to your table, and 100% certain when I asked. Now I have a dilemma… which Cinnamon to visit for lunch. I guess I’ll have to flip a coin and frequent both. I’m very glad to see they brought the best from Cinnamon in Rhinebeck to Bistro. Just get there early for lunch while Marist is in session… parking can be a challenge.
