Honestly I don’t know why this restaurant doesn’t have 4 stars. I’ve been there 3 times, and all those 3 time service was prompt, friendly, and the food was delicious not to mention HUGE portions! I had leftovers for lunch the next day which saved me some money. Their chicken Francese is amazing! So much flavor and tender chicken, best I’ve had in a while. I will definitely be returning to try other dishes.

We ate there last night for the first time. Everything good we had heard from friends was true! We both chose soup instead of salad and the cream of mushroom was the best I’ve ever had. I ordered a special — the stuffed filet of sole w spaghetti agl’olio on the side and both were delicious. My friend ordered the chicken Valdostana and it was amazing! We each had a full glass of wine w dinner and the Merlot was very good. I’ve never been served a glass that’s actually full … Will definitely go back to and highly recommend J. Dominick’s! It’s a comfortable, relaxed place w excellent food!

I’ve never been disappointed when I came here. The serving sizes are huge. I haven’t tried anything that I didn’t like. Love the penne ala vodka and the zuppe de pesce. The only thing I don’t like is 1 waiter that works there. He always seems like he has an attitude.

The food was very good– the portion sizes were enough to take home extras. Our problem was with the service. We waited almost 40 minutes AFTER being seated before our drink order was taken. As soon as our drinks came, we figured we had better place our dinner order. A plate came that had the rolls, cheese and roasted peppers. This was a nice dish from the house but we couldn’t enjoy it because we had no napkins or utensils. We got our utensils with our salads. As we started our salad, out came our entrée’s. I am talking literally within 3 minutes. The server put our entrée’s down on the table so we finished our salad while holding the plate. When they were done, we had to hunt down someone to take the empty plates so we could eat out entrée’s. Thank goodness the entrée’s were good and we had no problems because we did not see our waitress or server again for about half an hour. When the waitress finally came back out to the porch area, we grabbed her to box our leftovers and give us the check so we could leave. I understand that Saturdays areca busy night but it almost seemed that they were staffed as if it were a Tuesday lunch crowd. I would go back again, but only if I was in the area. I would not make reservations to visit again.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for some time now and I’m kicking myself for not going sooner. The food was excellent. I ordered the mussels for the table. Simply fantastic. There were three of us and the portion could’ve fed five easily. I myself had the pork chops and cherry peppers. The two center cut chops were cooked perfectly. I brought one home since they were both huge. Definitely would recommend J. Dominicks. The only thing I would say to my server next time is to slow the service down a bit. I felt a little rushed. Other than that, it gets a thumbs up from me.

Portions are HUGE so come with an appetite and prepared to eat. Small and intimate dining rooms, so it can get a little loud. Other than that nice casual atmosphere, good service and good food. Reservations are suggested but. Not necessary if you don’t mind waiting for a little while for a table.

Having arranged to meet friends here for dinner on Friday night, I checked out the reviews beforehand. I read some raves and I read some awful reviews. I was unsure what to expect, because when there is such a large variance of opinions you don’t really get a sense of a restaurant. Now that I’ve eaten there, here’s what I know. The food is delicious, the portions are huge, the ambiance is very nice, and although many people wrote that it was a very loud restaurant, I found that not to be the case at all. Our table might have been the loudest one there! We brought home half of what they served us, because you would have to have been fasting for days in order to finish what is on your plate. The check for 4 people was $ 141, which is not unreasonable for an Italian restaurant, and when you factor in that you will have a second meal at home with your leftovers, it’s actually quite a bargain!

Been there twice. Both times I left trying to figure out why they are successful. I guess that serving oversized meals is the attraction. Everything else comes up short. Starting out by not having a hostess at front counter. Late on seating. Loud. The impression that they disorganized(kitchen and prep area spill into front door). No bar. Poor beer menu. By the time i sat down, i was ready to leave. At least they got me to go there more than once. But never again.

Came here once, will not return. Food is average, place is clean enough to be legal, it is extremely SLOW and the waitstaff is downright rude! Service is horrendous. Big servings of wine is nice, but otherwise, there is nothing compelling about this place. I’ll get my average food from somewhere quicker and nicer, and I wouldn’t even consider this place for a ‘nice dinner.’

Have been to this establishment a couple times, both with a larger party and also just as a table of two. Nice place inside although can be loud at times depending on the night you go. I have tried many menu options and everytime the food is very good with giant portions that you will definitely be leaving with leftovers. The only downfall of this place is the service. All the times I have went it has been ATLEAST10 – 15 minutes before we even get a waiter to our table. Also ordering a bottled beer doesn’t seem too difficult especially with a smaller place, however it has been on more than one occasion where it has taken over 20MINUTES to receive a drink. I have gone back with the hope the service had shown improvement but no such luck. For good food with large portions definitely a recommendation, however, the service leaves much to be desired which is why I would be hesitant to return.

If your looking for a place with great quality food, this is not the place for you. They serve huge potions but sacrifice quality for quantity. One the other hand this has to be the absolute worst place I have ever had a drink. I ordered a Manhattan, one of the oldest cocktails out there, it was terrible. I have never tasted something so bad in my life, I took a few sips of it and that was all I could bare. I complained to the wait staff and all they said was«this is not the place to get drinks» that was said with a !!!$ 15!!!price tag attached to it which is by far the most I ever spent on a drink ever. Even when I went to the culinary. If you are looking for below average Italian food with above average prices and really terrible drinks with even higher prices this is the place for you, but for me you couldn’t pay me enough money to ever step foot in there ever again. Hope this helps out!

Fantastic! The portions are huge, you’ll have leftovers for days. The wine glass you get is huge. Love it! Our party of 6 all tried different things — the penne vodka, shrimp & scallops scampi, zuppa, etc. I had the penne which was really really good. The next time I go back I am definitely trying the shrimp and scallops scampi, that looked amazing. The calamari appetizer is excellent too. We had a nice round table on the side porch room. It was cozy and intimate. The service from the entire«team» that took care of us was all top notch. Definitely a gem!

Awesome Awesome Awesome. The owner/cook puts out a dish he can be proud of and a patron can be delighted with. Pick any enjoy them all. And don’t forget the goblet of wine(not a glass) what a beautiful thing these days. If you are in the mood for a beer try the ithica flower power if your lucky enough to get one it will take the edge off after a long hard day Steve and Heather and the staff will make you feel at home.

We love J Dominicks! The portions are generous, and the service is good! In the past, the service has been a bit slow… but the last few times we’ve been there, it’s been wonderful. Best Penne ala Vodka ever!

Good food! so if your looking for Italian and not a vegetarian, this place is nice. It has home made biscuits and fresh salad. I had a nice small salad and gnocchi. The place was clean and comfortable. The reason for only three stars is because I am vegetarian and there were only 3 things on the menu for me to eat and two of those were in the apps. Also the waiter took a seat to take our order. He grabbed a chair from another table and actually sat down! I wanted to ask him to stand back up. I still recommend this place if you want some Italian, but it is not as good as it could be.

We heard a lot about this place and had to try it. Looking for a lot of food and don’t care much about service or taste? This is your place. After 15 minutes, the bartender comes to your table and is pushy — tries to make you feel guilty if you don’t order something. Drink selection is limited. If you drink beer, they have Stella, Coors Light, Lagunitas IPA. No craft beer here. Waitress was ok but not attentive. Bus boy dropped stuff on my wife not once — but twice. They bring bread and red peppers and cheese to your table which again is plentiful. The bread is not Italian but a dense bread roll, the cheese was strange(like homemade boursin cheese made with the wrong kind of cheese), and red peppers right out of the jar. No olive oil — which was conspicuously absent. Two people ordered the Zuppa Di Pesce. This dish is huge — ridiculously huge. Not much flavor, bland sauce, but enough for 3 or 4 people. They charge you $ 7 sharing charge, which seems excessive. Another in our group ordered Pollo Alla Cardinale. No raves here — just ok. I ordered Pollo Alla Valdostana which is described on the menu as «Chicken breast filled with Prosciutto and cheese served in a mushroom cream sauce.» Nope. This was chicken marsala over mozzarella cheese and not in a cream sauce at all. The dish was totally overpowered by the Marsala wine. Funny thing — we went early(6:30pm) on a Saturday night, and by 8:00pm the place was mostly empty. Anyway, next time we are in the mood for good Italian food, it won’t be here.

We had a party of 6 on a slow Tuesday. It was absolutely horrible. From the service to the food it was all below par. And for prices like that I am shocked that they are still in business. If You want thick pasta swimming in red sauce for that kind of money this is your place. Every entrée was swimming in grease. The waiters were trying to sell us sample bottles of wine for so much money. The alcoholic beverages were made with base, rather than brand name liquors. This is all fine for a place that charges little, but for big city prices I expect quality.

The food is quite good but surpassed by the service. Everyone is friendly and helpful and very attentive. I wasn’t thrilled with my baked clams appetizer but the shrimp and scallops fra diavlo made me quickly forget about that. I’ll definitely be going back.

No where on their business card does it say reservation only. So my family and I got there and the hostess was extremely rude. They seated us upstairs, and I turned around and look at my mother who had just had her hip replaced. The hostess then snapped«is there a problem, next time make a reservation». Our waiter was extremely sweaty and shaky. Sweat dripping all over our food. It was disgusting. Definitely will not be going back any time soon.

Went to dinner at J Domenicks last Saturday night Something was missing things were just not right The lighting was poor and the ambiance not to great Not the place to go for dinner for a nice romantic date J Domenicks could have lots more charm, it has potential A few candles, flowers, wall décor these small additions are essential The wait staff and hostess, they matched the décor Their clothing, a bit messy, gruff attitude, really very poor My meal shrimp franchese over pasta average in taste The pasta too much, overwhelming, it was actually a waste Sordfish Picatta was the selection from my date Very tasty too large of a portion however she said it tasted great Shrimp and mussels over pasta ordered by my other guest He asked for linguini got cappalini, he said it was good, it passed his test It was noisy, staff was rude not a real winner To be honest, I thought I was at a bowling dinner I did not have the best expierience that night If management made it a place to dine not a place to eat, that would make it right Serve smaller portions, reduce the fare I’m sure you will have a lot more people going there I guess quantity could be good especially with good taste But if you get too much its not appealing, it turns out to be a total waste So J Domenicks in my book not for me to repeat I would rather go somewhere else to eat!!!
