My friends and I love when a new restaurant opens for brunch, especially in the city of POK(we want to see that area thrive). This place has been open for about a month and is definitely on the right track(some things need to be ironed out). The experience started out well; the owner, greeted us warmly, introduced himself and offered a complimentary round of mimosas The style of food was on point: Latin Caribbean is not something many people are doing in the Hudson Valley(so I loved the fact that I was getting something different). We opted to start with the Hushpuppies, and Tostones to share; both perfectly sharable — with great flavor. We each had one of their entrees, and all were DELICIOUS(not one plate had food left on it), the right size portions, and well-priced for brunch. Having been to Bull & Buddha many times(the restaurant previously in that space), I was happy to see they brightened up the space, making it much more inviting. My friends and I tend to be wine/prosecco people during brunch. Unfortunately MidTown does not yet have a wine list or bottles of wine for purchase. They also didn’t have coffee available(and we weren’t offered a dessert menu at the end of the meal). Running out of coffee… no wine selection… forgetting to offer dessert all seems like the kinds of bumps a fledgling restaurant goes through. All in all… they’re on the right track. Good food, well portioned and at the right price is most of the battle. A few bumps that I look forward to seeing sorted next time!
