Take 5 Deli

This is my friendly, little neighborhood deli of choice in the City of Poughkeepsie. They’re basically my next door neighbor, but I actually love them so much because of how they treated me before I even moved to Poughkeepsie. I used to intern at The Poughkeepsie Journal, which is next door, so I used to grab lunch from Take 5 at least two or three times a week. I’m not sure if it’s the owners or not, but the people who are always working there really took the time to get to know me and my order (which they sometimes had ready for me which was awesome).
Anyone who takes the time to get to know my name and chat with me is good in my book, and it doesn’t hurt their case that they load their sandwiches up. They also have a creative rotation of daily specials which I’ll occasionally order from and am never let down by.
The only (pretty small) thing that bugs me about this place is that they’re cash only and their ATM charges like $ 3.00 to use. I usually remember before I go there, but on the days I forget, I’ll begrudgingly use their ATM because I like their food so much.
Besides the friendly staff, they make amazing Reuben sandwiches. I bought two recently, one for me and one for my boyfriend. I immediately ate mine and put his in the fridge, where it taunted me for the rest of the afternoon, kind of like the Tell Tale Heart.
«Eat meeee,» it said, over and over.
So I did. And it was delicious.

Yum, yum, yum. I stayed at the grand hotel for a convention a didn’t want to go to the bar for a menu. And wanted the closest place the eat (this was at 5pm) and this placed popped up. I got a wedge seafood sub, coleslaw,!cookie, drink, and muffin for the morning for $ 16-.

Great place for lunch! The chef is a graduate of the Culinary Institute. The food is great.

A friendly place with great, unpretentious food. Coming inside feels like stepping back in time… they have tons of old Mets memorabilia on display. Great prices compared to other delis around with better food and friendlier service.
