Toys R Us

A bit costly as well as the plaything division had been a chaos. difficult to match exactly what is the correct cost. But my children remaining satisfied and that is certainly the most important thing!

Toys R Us is great, been going here since I was a kid — always very well organized and the prices aren’t too shabby either — I don’t really have any complaints, this place is great for the holiday season and getting everything in one full swoop.

I prefer to patronize independently owned game, toy, and hobby stores before chains, and I’m glad I know of many at which I can shop. But if I didn’t, or if I couldn’t find a specific item elsewhere, I’d be satisfied shopping here, at least for toys. If you’re looking for something, they probably have it; they have a huge inventory, well organized. The games section is decent, with an acceptable number of kids and family oriented games. If you want «epic» or strategy games, beyond a few of the best sellers, you’re better off trying Dragon’s Den in the main part of the Poughkeepsie Plaza Mall.
I’m not sure if their prices are competitive. They probably balance that with their rewards program.
My visit today was 3 days before Halloween… anything Halloween-​y they might have had left was minimal. They probably gave up on extensive Halloween items because of the Halloween Spirit store at the north end of the mall. Then again, the staff was setting up the Christmas displays. Anyone not surprised at that? Anyone? Bueller?

We went here Sunday to purchase a new bicycle for our son. We hit the right day they were having a clearance event on great kids bikes. They are also having an event, if you bring in an old bike they credit you $ 50 towards your new purchase. Awesome! And they are providing free assembly which is really awesome! The checkout was a breeze and the cashier a young boy was super friendly (I can’t remember his name but he is in 10^th grade at Poughkeepsie High-​School) Lots of great bikes/​toys to choose from!

I’ll start by saying that the majority of the shopping that I do at this Toys R Us is around the holidays, so maybe this review doesn’t reflect on their «normal» quality.
The major issue of this store seems to be understaffing. There is usually one person working the service desk, which simply isn’t enough to handle the volume of calls and customers. Because of this, the employees I have encountered there (after some very long waits) have been on edge and at times unhelpful. This understaffing problem is evident at the registers and on the floor as well, though they do a decent job of keeping the shelves stocked and neat.
This Toys R Us still gets three stars from me because they are the biggest toy store around and with some minor fixes they could be a much better store.

I love this toys r us. As the mother of two young children we toy shop often. Toys R Us finally started to get competitive pricing, in some cases even better than amazon. I often frequent this one and the one in Danbury, and the one in Danbury is a mess compared to this one. I had a question the other day about what a toy came with and the associate opened the box for me right there! They are always helpful and their selection is way better than the CT location, proving that someone is studying their inventory.

Toys R US could be a great place. It’s really the only toy store around anymore, and the one in Poughkeepsie has a fair selection.
But the manager. Oh lordy, the manager.
I’m not sure where he came from, or what his life is like, or why he exists — kinda like male nipples or the human appendix. But there’s something about this sauntering manchild that just rubs me the wrong way. Whether he’s insulting his employees, shouting loudly across the store, or just getting up in your face with a smarmy grin plastered across a face that feels empowered like he’s the King of All Plush Frogs, we shudder every time we see him, and dart down any available aisle so he doesn’t address us personally.
The first time we encountered him, we witnessed him berating a teenage employee for something inconsequential, right near the entrance of the store. That was it. He was garbage, as far as we were concerned. After that, it was clear that he was getting a little too friendly with the employees who had to awkwardly grin at his inappropriate personal comments, and that he was just kind of a dick in general. Loud, obnoxious, doesn’t know that he manages a toy store and not a small nation.
The store is fine, even if they can’t keep their prices straight and there’s always stuff on the floor. I understand it — kids come in there, parents suck, and they play and leave stuff around. It’s an uphill battle. There’s no such thing as an organized toy store. But when the manager’s presence is just so icky that you avoid him, you’re no longer in a nice toy store.

Toys R US Manager not so friendly anymore now that the Holidays are over…

If I could give this Toys R US 0 stars, I would. I had the worst experience ever here. All I need was to pick up a toy I bought online. The lady told me to step aside and wait 10 minutes so the next available staff member would help me find what I was looking for. However I waited for a hour! Every 15 minutes, I would politely remind her that I was still waiting, and she would reply back the same response. In the end, I just got frustrated and went to look for my item myself.
Seriously, this store is a mess! I was not the only annoyed customer. There were a couple confused and lost customers around and the staff were too busy talking among themselves. I would avoid this store at all cost!
