A favorite of ours, food never dissapoints. Have sat at almost all sections of the restaurant, including the wine cellar. Very young and eager staff, from valet to table service. We went on a Wednesday night(reservations made through Open Table), they sat us in a middle table downstairs. You’d think that the hostess would have picked up on seating two men in the middle with ladies on both sides who were clearly having fun that have raised the decibel level a lot higher on what clearly is already a loud place. We’re used to noisy restaurants but when there is competition on both sides, it becomes intolerable. She needs a bit of training where to place people.

After several visits it is clear that the food is still priority number one and it does not disappoint(consistently 4 stars); the standouts are the pizza with black truffles and fontina, the crackling calamari, the prosciutto-wrapped pork chop and the grass-fed burger. The setting is pleasant, but it can get loud at times. A major drawback continues to be the service, especially considering that this is a Jean Georges establishment. They have a fairly young team in the DR, but as they showed once again, this time on a Sunday evening, their lack of experience can leave a guest less than satisfied. Even in the suburbs service is important and helps elevate a dining experience. Unfortunately the team at The Inn at PR by JG still has their work cut out for them.

This was a 5 star meal for me, except for the fact that the waiter accidentally served my sober friend an alcoholic version of a soda that he had ordered. He hadn’t had a drink in over 6 years, and even the small sip of alcohol really upset him. We understand that mistakes happen, but given the standard of the restaurant, and the otherwise totally attentive service, it was an idiosyncratic and off the mark slip. One pro tip seems to be to come here on a Sunday evening. We were able to get a reservation very easily, last minute, without any hassle. The vibe of the restaurant was calmer at around 7:30pm. Menu standouts included the mushroom encrusted salmon, pea soup, and(as odd as it sounds) the complimentary water that was served at the table! Our waiter told us about its provenance(can’t remember if it was artesian, purified through reverse osmosis, etc???), and we rolled our eyes for a second, but turns out it IS damn good, almost slightly sweet, without a hint of any sort of chemical aftertaste. Who knew.

I love really great food and if it is great I don’t mind paying for it but this place is so overrated that it is shocking. I’ve gone there with my sister 3 times to give it a fair shake but you know I will never go back there again. For a rustic-looking restaurant in a beautiful woodsy town the place was pretentious and the food was on imaginably mediocre. But people stream in because it’s a well-known Chef that owns this restaurant. And the wealthy don’t mind spending $ 25 to give their little children flavorless hamburgers and fries. The last time I went there which was just a few weeks ago, we sat down and we’re served cold and unseasoned calamari rings that would just dripping with grease and alongside them was what looked like and aioli but was actually a tasteless mayonnaise. They have no gluten free options for anything there so it was especially difficult for me because there brunch menu is so li ited in the first place. My sister ordered their French toast. When it showed up almost 40 minutes later the outside was hard crusted sugar on the bread and the inside was raw. It was too disgusting to believe. I could go on but I won’t. We paid. We left. We will never go back.

I disagree with many of the negative reviews for this restaurant. I have been here 5⁄6 times since they opened a few years ago, and as a resident of Pound Ridge I think they have been an amazing addition to the town. The staff here is composed of a lot of locals, and while they might not be the caliber of staff you would find in NYC… you’re not in NYC, you are in a small town in Westchester. That being said, I have never had less than excellent service including dinner last night, in which our waiter checked in with us multiple times, made a few clarifications that were very helpful(pointing out that my boyfriend ordered non-alcoholic beer by accident… earned him a serious tip!), and brought out a great extra cupcake for my birthday. Highlights of last nights dinner were the ramp/goat cheese toast, a seasonal item that was stellar and highlighted the ramps which are only in season for such a short time, the truffle/fontina pizza was delicious and not covered in mushrooms as another reviewer said(in fact it had no mushrooms, just truffle), and the salted caramel sundae which is OUTSTANDING. The ginger margaritas didn’t hurt either. keep it coming!

We went two years ago to the date, when it was on the newer side. It was a five star experience. Went again last night, two years to the date and… it has changed. This place still works, from décor to the food, but everything from the service to the food was a little off. Service was slow and a bit I unresponsive. Each food item was good, but it missed that little extra bit that makes it excellent. Maybe it was just a reflection of a busy Saturday night? I don’t think so because every dish, and I tasted a lot of dishes, was less than spectacular.

My brother and his wife had eaten here in the past. I know they are a Michelin star restaurant, so my expectations were high. I really loved the ambiance of the place, dimly lit, but unpretentious. It has a rustic feel, like being in a high end ski lodge, and you are invited to come in, relax and enjoy wonderful food and drink. The crispy calamari and fried sushi were really done well. I had the Grass Fed burger with Yuzu pickles were really good, as well. If it weren’t so far from home I would probably be a regular there. Definitely worth a try,

Wonderful atmosphere! We went there for our anniversary and were treated beautifully from the moment we drove up to the moment we drove away. The wait staff was polite. The food was excellent and my husband and I fully enjoyed our time there. Our dessert was presented on a plate that said Happy Anniversary which was a nice finishing touch to the evening. Excellent date night!

How is It possible that this is a JGV restaurant? I was so happy to hear that the old Emily Shaw’s(does it date me that I remember that old gadabout, John Shaw?) had the possibility of a new life and another chance for greatness with a celebrated chef. But my experience today indicates that he can’t possibly be at the helm. While the interior design is lovely and welcoming, the staff is uncharacteristically detached and indifferent. We arrived early for our 12:30 lunch today to find the hostess(dressed in what appeared to be gardening clothes) nibbling on cake and on a laptop in the lobby. We ordered well before 1:00 and weren’t served our starters(soup of all things) until 1:40. We had to request bread. And what’s with the salt cellar at the table? Yes, I know there is a darling little spoon but are the finger police checking to see that all previous diners made proper use of It? Thankfully all our food was properly salted because I would not ever have used the salt in the cellar. Soups were delicious but not served hot enough. It was as though they had been sitting while the fourth starter(ricotta) for our table was being prepared. There was a slight«skin» on the soup surface indicating too much elapsed time between pour and table service. I ordered the hake«burger» which had good flavor and an interesting enough sauce but it was impossible to eat without a knife and fork. After my first bite, the contents of the burger squished out the sides and back. This was too bad because the roll was especially good. Dessert was the salted caramel sundae. We all enjoyed it but it was nothing special. Sorry, JG, this was not what we expect from you.

We enjoyed a very pleasant Sunday birthday lunch here. Ambience: ‘barn-style’ bright and relatively casual. Service: excellent Food: Calamari was great, with a lovely frothy dip and just a few chillis Lemon Ricotta was a nice idea but too large and had far too much of the lemon so it was too sweet for an appetizer. Tuna burger was excellent Eggs Benedict(Ham) was again wonderful. Wine: glass of Pino Grigio was very pleasant(very pricey) The only thing that is always a shame is there are one too many tables in each section so you are on top of your neighbors. Luckily it wasn’t too busy this time — even so several people re-directed the greeter to another spot. Will return at quiet times again

The Inn at Pound Ridge has a wonderful rustic charm, and a world renowned superstar chef but fell well short of my expectations. Loved the shrimp salad, and the ricotta and beet salad appetizers were both delicious. The tuna tartare and hamachi crispy rice were both very tasty, but not to the extent that I was blown away by either. The filet was perfectly cooked at medium rare. Great crust, and well seasoned. Plenty of misses though as well. The truffle and fontina cheese pizza was a mess, and had so many enormous chunks of mushroom scattered on top that it completely overpowered the other flavors. A shame because the crust was delicious. We sampled their pastas, and were let down again. An odd assortment of flavors, none of which really blew us away. The Berkshire Pork Chop was good, but a little dry so again just ok. That was the prevailing theme for me here. Just ok. Not great. I will say the brunch was slightly better, but once again, not worth the money.

Beautiful country type ambience sets the tone for a comfortably paced lunch where menu choices range from very good to marvelous. We shared two(2) starters: The Beet Salad with feta cheese and olives over a Red Wine Vinaigrette was refreshingly good. However The Tuna Tartare selection was the true standout. The Soy-Ginger Sauce blended perfectly with the avocado and radish — extremely flavorful. Our main choices: The Sesame Crusted Salmon Salad while enjoyably good and sizable did not stand up to the Roasted Hake entrée. With the Maple-Celeriac Vinaigrette adding an incredibly unique flavor this particular dish was the afternoon delight. A selection to be remembered for quite some time. With thankfully strong coffee(to counter the earlier fine chardonnay) we shared the«Cookie Plate». With the unique Frozen Meyer Lemon Cheesecake and the Coconut Caramel Cookie being the best of the lot we completed our very satisfying lunch. Service was pleasant throughout however at fine dining establishments little things are noticed. With our dessert at the table we waited too long for our coffee to arrive. Also — and this can be challenging for any restaurant — a center circular table included children running about a bit. While the parents /guardians are truly at fault here the dining venue(especially one of this kind) has a responsibility to its other guests to curtail this sort of activity. The Inn is pricey(there is a «Prix Fixe Lunch» option) however you do get what you pay for here. A pleasant setting — A wonderful meal — A beautiful time.

What more can I say? I had a really good dining experience here, everything from food, service, atmosphere, establishment… was a total enjoyment. Their table bread deserves an extra point(I was going to give 4 points, but for me personally, their table bread deserves a whole star on its own). There are so many things I wanted to try, I ended up having the Kale salad, roasted hake and sorbet. My friend had butternut squash soup and burger, everything was delicious. Would love to come back again to try their pizza. I just wish it is not so far away from the city and I could come here more often!

Beware, do not fall prey to the hype. For a well known name this place falls short. The service was terrible. It took forty five minutes to get served our appetizers on a Thursday night and another half hour before the entrees arrived. The staff is young and lacking experience. It seemed as though all the waiter wanted to do was build up the bill with more cocktails. Bread arrived at the table after the appetizers were served. The only thing that arrived quickly was the check. We had a truffle pizza to start which was flavorful but the texture was rubbery, should not happen for a thin crust pizza. The tuna tartare was very good as was the ricotta with lemon purée. I had orecchiette with ricotta for an entrée. The pasta was overcooked and the ricotta was served on top like a scoop of ice cream and was cold, terrible presentation. The bass entrée was dry. A side of Brussel sprouts was very good. I was also disappointed in the serving plates and glasses, not very attractive for a supposedly high end place. The atmosphere is cozy New England style inn on the outside and a Napa vibe on the inside with multiple fireplaces. The problem is that I smelled like fire when I got home and I was not even seated near a fireplace. I am not planning on returning any time soon.

The restaurant deserves a 5 for food and waiter service. I am ranking it a four due to the check in, host service and bartenders. We arrived in time for a reservation. We had to work(not make) our way to the host stand. Table wasn’t ready and we were told to hang out at one of the bars. While at the crowded bar you felt like you’re back in college waiting for the bartender(who had huge attitudes) to hopefully glance your way. After getting a drink the tab is automatically transferred to the table(Thank God). That ordeal was for 20 mins post checking into the host stand. The service at the table was great, the ambiance was beautiful and we were sat at a cool corner booth. We had delicious apps Tuna Tartare and a shrimp salad. Entrees beef tenderloin and lamb chops were off the charts. Bottom line is the restaurant owns your experience once you exit the car with the valet and unfortunately the ball was dropped until we arrived at the table. At these price levels the restaurant needs to refine the welcome wagon experience.

As a big fan of the old Emily Shaw’s that occupied this space for many years, I was looking forward to experiencing the new concept and re-design. From the outside the place is familiar(now with valet parking) but once in the door you are hit in the face with new energy. The interior is colonial meets modern. The vibe reminded me somewhat of the Delano in Miami. Cool interior but the piped in music upstairs was a bit loud so we opted to dine down the stairs. Service was great. Lots of different people attending to our table. The menu was a bit limited and I would have liked to see a bit more variety. Chose the Crunchy Sashimi(outstanding!) and the Penne Meatballs(very good). Dining partner raved on the salad with shrimp. I forgot what she chose as entrée but it was also enjoyed. We have a lot of great dining options in the area but the Inn will certainly be added to the rotation.

While I truly loved my first experience here, unfortunately our second time around was not as great. We were seated within minutes of our reservation and we had a comfortable corner couch/table within feet of a cozy fireplace. We ordered the truffle pizza to share as an app. The pizza was definitely smaller than the one we had eaten last. It was tasty, but had an after-taste I could not put my finger on… anchovy possibly? It was not that pleasant. As an entrée we each ordered the tenderloin, one rare, the other medium. The rare we cooked perfectly, but the medium was more like medium-well. The dish was nice to look at, but for almost $ 40, it had maybe 6 oz of meat and a smear of parsnip purée. Also, there were 4 brussel sprout halves(so two whole brussel sprouts) per dish. Luckily we ordered the fries as a side, but even that was about a cup of fried potatoes to split. Finally, for dessert we ordered the donuts because our last experience had left us dreaming of how moist and creamy-centered they were. Not this time! This season’s selection was a «Boston cream pie» donut that lacked any cream… a tangy yeast donut that was almost impossible to eat because of the extremely unappealing icing, and an apple cider fried donut that was hard, oily and cold. We were very disappointed with our dessert that it almost negated the experience of the tasty steak. For the two of us to spend 180+ for dinner(with only a beer and cocktail(uninventive vodka lemonade) we will definitely consider going elsewhere. We also felt very rushed, we were in and out in an hour and fifteen minutes. When we anticipate our Saturday night dinners out, we want to spend a few hours on the experience sipping on our cocktails, enjoying each bite and having good conversation. Not here. We literally got home and after about 30 mins started to feel hungry. If you absolutely must dine with the Westchester elite, then this place is for you. If you want a good meal that makes you feel satiated on your way out, look for something else.

This is really more like a 2.5 stars. As big Jean-Georges fans, we were honestly underwhelmed. We had a 9:30 reservation on the Saturday before Christmas and things started off on the wrong foot at the bar. The super-snarky bartender was totally unaware of her surroundings. She had no idea who was waiting for drinks or who had arrived first. I practically had to jump up and down to get her attention… And when I finally did flag her down, she was rude. After a drink at the bar we were seated. Our server was sweet, but overall, service was very slow. The restaurant had largely cleared out by the time we arrived, so I’m unsure what the delay was about. As we always do at JG spots, we started with the truffle flatbread. My husband had the pork chop, which he described as «fine.» I had the fish. Also«fine.» We passed on dessert, as dinner had taken so long. I may come back to try brunch, but I’m certainly in no rush.

Had my first meal at the Inn last night. Visited for a special occasion, but have heard only good reviews. The décor lends itself to a warm and cozy ambiance. As you enter the restaurant the over-sized stone fireplace is a welcomed sight on a frigid Westchester evening. The staff descends on you from the moment you arrive. We were escorted downstairs(a bit of a maze), but worth the windy trip. I happen to love stone walls and and vintage large wood beams, so I was right at home. not sure the dining furniture matched well, but you soon overlook this. Staff was very attentive, and their casual uniform put you immediately at ease, as the place«could» have a stuffy feel about it. Ordered some wine and settled in. The wine list is quite expansive and meets every price-point, all the way up through Petrus. Ordered a few starters, and would recommend the white bean dip. For my entrée, I ordered the lamb chops which were joined by grilled Brussels sprouts and what seemed a compote of sweet-tasty and fleshy fruits. Absolutely delicious! Probably the best lamb I’ve had in recent memory. For dessert, I thoroughly enjoyed the apple cake and the trio of housemade ice cream. I ditched the«diet» and was never happier. I’m glad I made the trip in, and I’m so happy I have such a place so close to home. I don’t have to drive in to NYC for an equivalent experience. I will be back. Soon.

Wonderful. My wife and I shared several courses and enjoyed everything. A ricotta appetizer was very tasty, and I loved the white bean dip. Our squash salad was so unusual and delightful, and we had two fish dishes that were excellent. The side of Brussels sprouts was also very yummy. We had three glasses of wine between the two of us, but skipped dessert(too full). At $ 160 before gratuity, the price seemed a little high but in the zone. We’ll be back.

Celebrating our 2 year courtship anniversary with the beau and we could not have chosen a better restaurant for dinner. We were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival. We didn’t mind the wait as it gave us time to warm up on a chilly November night. For starters, the beau got the crispy sushi, which he raved over, and I got the Rosemary flatbread with the bean dip. Oh my gosh… heaven. For our mains, I chose the hake dish and my BF got the slow roasted salmon. We thoroughly enjoyed both. I had a hiccup with my plate, but the servers and manager handled it like pros!!! They quickly brought me back a new plate and they were so attentive to our orders! The desserts were indulgent without leaving us feeling guilty. The pear and almond tart was paired with a Concord grape sorbet! The sorbet was cleansing on the palette and the tart had just enough sweetness. The apple pie set the standard for how ALL apple pies should taste!!! I mean it was that good! Oh and what was totally thoughtful of the staff was that they gave us complimentary cupcakes with«Happy Anniversary» written on the plate. We had a romantic and delicious dinner, all thanks to the chefs and staff at Inn at Pound Ridge! Thanks!

Beautiful décor and ambiance — despite the fact I nearly wiped out near the hostess stand due to the slippery floors! My husband and I came here for our anniversary, and were promptly brought to our table. I had called ahead to have a bottle of champagne delivered to us(as a surprise to my husband), so when the waitress came over to ask us our drink orders I was a bit thrown off. We ordered the ricotta and cranberries as an appetizer which was delicious, and our entrees of the kale salad, roasted brussel sprouts and salmon did not disappoint, although a bit pricey for what we got. The only piece of advice I would give to the wait staff is to be clear on who is serving what table, as several waiters and waitresses continuously came over to check on us and ask us the same thing over and over and over again…

I’ve returned to the Inn for lunch on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. This time I made sure I got upstairs seating and I did. We scored seats near a fireplace. cozy and warm, perfect for that afternoon. This time around food was a lot tastier than the last time I dined here. CRISPYSUSHIWITHHAMACHI — yum yum yum! I love a hint of spicy mayonnaise hidden underneath a piece of fresh fish. Of course rice ball is deep fried, thus the word ‘crispy’. but it wasn’t greasy at all. The plate comes with 5 small pieces so. you might want to just get your own and don’t share because it is delicious. ROASTEDHAKE — I never had hake before. It had flaky texture, firm, mild, and meaty. Star of this dish was the lime-garlic sauce. Wow. it packed with flavors, went perfectly with mild fish like hake. Crunchy potatoes added crispy texture to the dish. It was a well thought out dish. GRASS-FEDBURGER — medium cooked with Bacon, Gruyère, Russian Dressing, and Yuzu Pickles. It was so juicy and well seasoned. I noticed many people in the restaurant ordered burgers. some tuna, some hake, and some beef. And I can see why … it was a delicious burger. Pear And Almond Tart and CONCORDGRAPESORBET — I ordered this with a cup of cappucino … what a way to finish my delightful afternoon. Tart wasn’t too sweet, that got a big bonus point from me. Sorbet was good as well. Service was casual, but professional. Some staff seemed a bit unfriendly and cold, but they always made sure that napkin isn’t laying around on the seat when unoccupied. I’m now happy with the Inn at Pound Ridge for the food.

In the bucolic surroundings of Bedford, New York, Jean Georges has masterfully added a rustic, charming ‘Farm-to-Table’ rendition of his ABC Kitchen in the renovated(last year) Inn of Pound Ridge,. Brunch: Lovely flavors: Starting with the bread basket of fresh muffins, croissant, scones, along with Jam and preserves. There is a pricey wine list. I recommend, the Ginger Margarita cocktail. Appetizer: The Tuna Tartar is served on a delicate mound of avocado mixture topped with slivers of radish, in a sublime ginger infused sauce with just enough spice. Mains: Crispy Hake on soft sesame rolls with a spicy Aioli and thin slices of pickles. Grass fed Beef burgers, adorned with melted Gruyère cheese, bacon, Russian dressing, and fried Yuzu pickle slices. Both sandwiches are served with thin crispy rosemary fries(potato skins on) inside bistro-style cones. Seared Beef Tenderloin(also grass fed) with silky parsnip Purée, grilled brussell sprouts complimented by a lovely Miso mustard sauce. Desserts: Lovely ending with homemade sorbets and ice cream. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and lemon zest. **The staff was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. I guess this can be attributed to the many complaints I have read here on Unilocal of «slow service.”** Well, it is now better, thankfully. Enjoy!

I went in with high expectations. The décor and service met those expectations. However, the cocktails and food did not. First, for the prices one pays there, a) there shouldn’t be a need to salt your own food b) they could spring for salt shakers/grinders c) serving salt in bowls with a microscopic spoon begs for people to use their fingers to pinch and sprinkle the salt. I gagged at the idea that someone else, who may or may not have washed their hands, had their fingers in the salt I desperately needed to add to my food. I’m not a germaphobe, but that was very upsetting. Second, I was appalled at how bland and subpar the food was. We ordered the strawberry and ricotta. It was incredibly bland. There was inconsistent seasoning with black pepper, and it completely lacked salt, again, which was desperately needed. If someone in the kitchen had seasoned the dish before it left, it would have been a winning dish. Instead, it was beautiful looking, painstakingly, handmade bland food. A waste of exquisite ingredients. The cocktails were boring. Mine was not mixed well at all, misleading in direction, and unpleasant. It was supposed to be an herbally«infused» drink. Sticking a stalk of herb into an unmixed lemonade and vodka with tonic water does not a cocktail make. By the way, of a cocktail is going to have tonic water in it, that should be noted. I hate tonic water, and since it consists of almost 1⁄3 of the cocktail, would have been nice to know about. Especially at the price charged. The biggest disappointment was the«Spiced» French Toast. It was burnt. It was scorched. It was bland. There was no «spice» present. I’d have been better off staying at home, making my father’s recipe. His, at least, has flavor and spice in it. This was a nearly completely bitter, unpleasantly crusted triangle, filled with soggy bread and uncooked egg/milk mixture. The dessert was good.

A perfect place for a special occasion dinner! Came here on a Thursday night for my birthday, and it was pretty full at 9:30, so good to make a reservation! Food & service were perfect, the décor is a cozy mix of rustic wood & stone, and modern accents & light fixtures. Gluten free for me was no problem, as many items on the menu already are, including the watermelon salad(juicy & sweet, with a beautiful blend of tangy goat cheese & sea salt) and sea bass(refreshing and satisfying with a light, zesty lemon sauce that I wish I had a spoon to scoop up!) that I choose. My husband enjoyed his tuna tartare, though he said it the ginger was a bit overpowering for his palate. His entrée was the massive prosciutto wrapped Berkshire pork chop(chef recommends medium/medium rare) with wild mushrooms that was rich, hearty, unctuous, buttery, and basically the polar opposite of my light refreshing bass… But still amazingly delicious! My husband was thrilled with the temperature of the pork, saying it was perfectly between medium and medium rare, just as he prefers. We toasted with glasses of prosecco to start, then I chose a Sauvignon blanc to pair with my fish(perfection), and my husband ordered his beloved Manhattan, which he said went very well with his pork, but was oddly too strongly tasting of cinnamon on its own. We will be back!

The location: the outer reaches of Westchester, nestled amongst ten million dollar homes. The setting: rustic yet modern, lots of wood beams and a fireplace, but with lighter accents and hanging light fixtures. The food: the menu reads almost like Jean-Georges’ greatest hits. I see dishes from his three star Michelin namesake restaurant as well as ABC Kitchen. I had the calamari with yuzu aioli, the tuna burger, and a buttermilk strawberry panna cotta. The calamari were among the best I have had in ages, all crunch with very little chew, and the yuzu aioli was the perfect tangy compliment to the spicy batter on the calamari. The tuna burger was nice and almost raw, just like I asked(I hate cooked tuna) and the red wine gelee with the panna cotta was a great touch. I was disappointed that there were no seasonal donuts on the menu, and I was hoping for a foie gras dish, but that was forgotten once I tried the calamari. The service was to be desired. The place was mostly empty for lunch service on a summer Saturday and yet our waitress wasn’t terribly engaging. She was competent enough and everything came out as ordered, I just felt a little more interaction and checking in on us would have been nice. It gets a four from me because of food that was good to great and I love the setting. The experience was good enough that I am looking forward to a return visit.

We dined with our family and had a very nice dinner. The food from appetizer to dessert was excellent and worth the price. The asparagus appetizer was fantastic. While the calamari was fried very lightly, I didn’t find much actual calamari. I enjoyed the beef tenderloin very much. It literally melted in my mouth! The sea bass was also outstanding. The décor is a wonderful sort of rustic-chic. A nice blend of rustic inn with modern furnishings. Valet parking is a very nice touch as well as the warm welcome we received when entering. What keeps The Inn from being a five star restaurant is the really slow service, very close tables, and the noise level. Service was knowlegeable and attentive without being obtrusive. However, getting our drinks took a really long time. We had been seated over an hour and a half before our appetizers arrived at the table. The Inn is the kind of place you want to have a leisurely dining experience, but I like my leisure time spent with a drink in hand. Because of the noise and closeness of the tables, I would not come here for a romantic evening. I would however return for a special occasion with friends or family.

Boy, was it worth driving to the middle of nowhere in Upstate New York for an amazing meal at a Jean Georges restaurant without the hassle of waiting for a table or the headache of securing a reservation. Though some of the delicious items we tried here are available in the much more convenient NYC location of ABC Kitchen, we happened to be driving(somewhat) near here on our way home from a trip upstate, and it was also infinitely easier to book a reservation on OpenTable than it is as his other ABC restaurants. On Sunday, the morning of our dinner here, I booked the early bird special at 5:30PM, and noted that plenty of other tables were still available. Soon after we were seated, the beautiful, low-lit restaurant quickly started to fill up with plenty of old white people and upstate New Yorkers. They know what they’re doing, as every single one of the many things we tried was incredible: — Crispy Sushi with Hamachi($ 17) Make no mistake, even though it’s not in the bustling NYC atmosphere, the menu here is still plenty pricey. This small appetizer of 5 pieces though was still well worth it, as it was one of the best renditions of crispy sushi I’ve had. Substituting Hamachi for the frequently seen choice of tuna, the fresh fish was so smooth and very nicely complemented the really crispy, crunchy bed of rice underneath. This is a definite must to start. — Sweet Pea Guacamole with Warm Crunchy Tortillas($ 11) This was some pretty good guac, but not as good as the stuff at ABC Cocina. The tortillas also weren’t particularly warm and were very lacking in quantity, with not nearly enough to eat up all the tasty guac with. Still, another pretty good started. — White Pizza with Prosciutto di Parma($ 15) Pizzas(or often flatbreads as they call them) are typically disappointing at non-pizza restaurants, but this was far from the truth here. This one was really incredible, and one of the better things we tried. The prosciutto di parma was spread generously across every inch of the hot, fluffy dough, making this a really delicious choice for a larger starter. — Rigatoni with Meatballs($ 24 for large size) This was delicious, but nothing particularly mind-blowing. It was just a very good bowl of pasta, with 3 excellent meatballs. It’s a good choice if you really happen to be in the mood for pasta, but at $ 24, it’s a little steep. — Bacon Gruyère Grass Fed Burger($ 20) The burger is amazing, and is practically worth ordering just from the pile of hot, perfectly crispy fries. But aside from those, the burger itself really is excellent. The bun is perfectly soft and the patty was cooked with just the right amount of pink in the center. — Salted Caramel Sundae($ 13) You must get this of course — this is the famous sundae served at ABC Kitchen, consisting of 3 generous scoops of incredible salted caramel ice cream, topped with caramel popcorn, candied peanuts and the thickest, richest hot fudge. No matter how full you are or how many other desserts you get, make very sure you get this one too. — Seasonal Glazed Doughnuts($ 11) These looked better than they tasted. Sure, they were delicious, but I will always wish I ordered that Toasted Marshmallow Chocolate Cake instead, as these doughnuts were fairly standard, and were not even hot. Service was perfect throughout, with the well-trained waitstaff providing very attentive and friendly service. I doubt I’ll be up in Pound Ridge for any reason any time soon, but if you happen to be anywhere in the vicinity, do not miss out on the opportunity for a memorable and delicious meal here.
