Ordered spicy miso ramen. Excellent. Also had the crunchy roll, which was also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Prices are very reasonable and some sushi rolls are 50% off right now.

Took my friend here for her birthday. We were greeted as soon as we got to the door and told to sit wherever. The service was attentive in the beginning & end, not so much in the middle. Our waters were refilled twice so I can’t get too bogged down. I’m not sure what my friend ordered but I got the veggie roll and the tuna x tuna – both delicious. I also like lots of ginger on the side, so our waitress hooked it up. It was about $ 10 a roll with 10% off via Unilocal check in(woohoo!) and upon leaving our waitress gave us a coupon for next time. Pretty low key vibe, plenty of parking, and yummy food. I’d go again and would love to try something new. They had so many roll options and I didn’t even get to the noodle/ramen options.

I went here late on a Monday and it was the busiest place besides the gas station in the entire center. Not to say there was a wait but compared to the other restaurants that were dead it was… I had the Tonkatsu ramen, it was my first time having ramen at a restaurant so I’m sure I’m not qualified to review ramen based on my experience. The wait staff was more than fine, they cared more than most on how I enjoyed my spicy dish, which I couldn’t finish, than most fine restaurants and you could see their concern. I tried to ensure them it had nothing to do with the taste, it was fine, I was just stuffed but you could see how they cared when you didn’t finish your dish. Would go there again to try their sushi.

Had the spicy tuna roll and the spicy miso and they were both great!!! Only reason I gave 4 stars is because there should be more than two small pieces of pork belly. Other than that it was great from the amazing service to the awesome, tasty food!

This place is the best! Love the very fresh and generous cuts of sashimi and delicious rolls. The ramen is also excellent. Our new favorite place.

Was craving some ramen on cold night and wanted to try this place since it was close by. First off all their prices were decent and their garlic butter chicken wings and sushi were good. However ramen was a okay.

Went here a couple weeks ago — food was good but not remarkable. I had a 20% off coupon so that was cool. I should write about but I ate, but it wasn’t memorable enough. I talked to a couple other friends who have gone there and felt the same way. If someone recommended going back, I wouldn’t have a problem, but not sure I would be overly enthusiastic.

New place to eat. The menu included many different types of sushi. Different names with a slight twist for similar sushi choices. There was a selection of 6 ramen noodle soup bowls. We tried the miso ramen and the pork dumpling ramen. The soup broth was very tasty and light. The noodles were soft and flavorful and well prepared. The ramen noodle bowls were very filling. We sampled a couple of sushi choices. The California roll was simple and ok. The spider roll had soft shell crab with other crab and cucumber. This version of a soft shell crab roll included a swizzle of a dark and tan sauce. On was sweet and the tan was slightly spicy. Interesting addition to the sushi. No room for dessert. There was also domestic and Japanese beers available. Saki and wine are also available. Nice small place. Good for lunch and dinner. Could have given a 4 star but on thing that concerned us was what one of the servers did. Overall the service was good prompt and friendly. The server offer us a refill on water and took our cup and then picked up a glass from another table and carried it into the back to fill. Did not know if we got our cup back or was switched. Water should be filled at the table. Got a cute carved orange for dessert. Cool Decided to try this place again. Just wanted some hot soup on a chilly night. Ordered the seafood ramen. Soup was hot the way I wanted. Was served with two green lip mussels, bay scallops, shrimp, very tasty soft egg noodles, and garnished with green onions and bean sprouts. My guest had the pork dumpling ramen. Was very good and lots of flavor. We both left very full and satisfied. Service was fast and good. No problems with any of the servers this time.

I really really wanted to like this place. It replaced good old Japan House. We are always looking for a good, reasonably priced place to eat. And the kids always want ramen. Ironically we came here for ramen and did not order any. So I can’t comment on it. We did have lunch specials, all three of us, which they also have on the weekends. I’m not sure exactly what to say. My son liked the california rolls and his tempura shrimp roll. I’d give those two dishes a B-. I fee like if they started with better quality rice it may have yielded a better result. I tasted the green bean chicken. Again, the quality of the chicken was so poor. There’s no way I’d order that for myself. The sashimi was o.k., again nothing to write home about. At $ 7.95 for lunch. I feel I got what I paid for. I may be back for ramen, just not likely anything else.

Writing this while here for my second day in a row. Great prices for great sushi, and all of the staff have been extremely friendly to me. I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

Love this place. I had a coupon for a free crunch roll and i will be forever grateful. It was the first time i had a crunch roll and it is now my favorite roll. I get it every time. Rainbow is also very good. Only roll i haven’t liked so far was because of the uncooked scallops on top. I believe it was called the cherry blossom? But i know that im not going to like every single roll they have. I just wont get it next time. Never had to wait long for the food and the staff is very nice. I cant wait to go back.

I love the happy hour here! From 4−6pm it’s half off certain sushis. I always get the salmon skin roll. it’s only $ 4 a roll! The salmon skin is so crunchy and not salty at all! California roll is only $ 3.50. I also love the scorpion & dragon roll. The rose milk tea is deeeeelicous! The staff are also very attentive and nice. They also always give out 10% off coupons for your next visit every time you pay. My friend got their ramen and she said its was alright. I seriously go here at least once a week for their happy hour. I’m so glad I found this place!

I wish I could do half stars because otherwise I’d give this place **3.5 stars.** I just got done hiking up Iron Mountain and it was raining today so I was feeling pretty cold and thought some warm food would make me feel better. There was no seating available on the inside unless we sat at the sushi bar, which I didn’t feel like doing so my group just sat outside. Our table was right next to the door and had some difficulty getting the chair out since it was kinda stuck behind it but whatever. Not gonna make a huge deal outta it because it’s not. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, small hot sake, and oysters. The sake instantly warmed me up. The oysters were delicious and so was the ramen. I usually add condiments to my ramen but there weren’t any on the table so I just ate it as is. The broth was spicy, just the way I like it(although you can opt of the spicy.) Overall, the food was satisfying and it hit the spot. My friend on the other hand failed to receive one of his orders of sushi which was inconvenient. Customer service was good. Overall, I’m satisfied with my experience here but seeing as how I live quite far from Poway, I’m not sure if I’ll be back unless I’m hiking in the area again and craving something warm or some sushi. Their cut rolls and special rolls are 50% off by the way so that’s cool. I’m way more critical of sushi than I am of ramen so if I do come back, expect a more thorough review if I try the sushi.

Came here on my lunch break When I got here I was excited to try it out since it just opened I went inside and when I got in they tried looking for a seat for me and I decided it would be best if I just sat outside since it was nice anyways. I ordered off the 50% off menu and the price is ok. I mean it is still $ 7 – 8 a roll. which is normal for other sushi places so I don’t think the 50% off menu is cheap. The server took 10 minutes to ask me what I wanted and it took about 10 – 15 minutes just to give me ONE roll. I was sad it took so long. When I got the roll, it was ok. I didn’t like the salsa and sweet sauce they put on it. I felt like they just put this roll together because it looks pretty. But it didn’t taste all that great. Maybe next time I will try another roll here. Hopefully the wait won’t be too long.

Definitely a fan of this place! YAY for a new sushi/ramen spot close by home. Always good not to have to drive to Convoy and deal with all the crazy parking situations on Convoy. This place just opened a few months back so I drag my bf here to try their food. We made it on time for their Happy Hour which last from 3−6PM. Ramen: Spicy Miso Ramen — it was actually pretty good. It is definitely better than Tajima so thumbs up! The broth is very nice and just enough kick and the noodles texture is soft but chewy. Sushi: Sumo Combo($ 10.95) I think. 4 pieces of 4 different type of rolls. All were very delicious. My fav is Poki Roll. Overall, it is very good for the price and location. I would definitely come back when San Diego gets some cold weather for their ramen! Or even another day when I am craving for Sushi but too lazy to take a drive! Definitely a fan of this place! YAY for a new sushi/ramen spot close by home.

The previous Japanese restaurant here was one that I would rarely frequent. The location was hidden and there wasn’t much that stood out for me to mentally bookmark it in the endless options for someone constantly looking for the perfect meal. As it is right now Ikura peaked my interested mainly because of their ramen service. I wanted to look to see if there was another place in Poway where I could grab a bowl of the best version of noodles the world can come up with. It wasn’t a bad effort to be honest. Tasty for the most part and not overly salty. Not kick me in the face life changing but it’ll do. Tentatively bookmarked!

Ok, I’ve already been here twice and I loved both experiences. I was really sad when they closed Japan House. That was like my go to Japanese spot in Scripps but that’s okay because this place is so much better! There’s so much more to choose from on the menu and a great variety at that! All the sushi concoctions were good so you can’t really go wrong with whatever you get. The nigiri’s and hand rolls are fresh. the pork buns were good. the butter chicken was amaze. and even the different selection of tea’s were de-lish! Hands down one of my new faves. Will definitely come back for sure :)

Welcome to the neighborhood Ikura! I’ve been meaning to try this place because of all their coupons and«half off sushi». The half off sushi isn’t a steal of a deal, but it’s definitely a tease that’ll get you in the door. Here’s the skinny on eats! Tonkatsu ramen. The broth is delicious! The noodles are ok, the egg is cooked well and the bamboo shoots are yummy. The chasu is just ok, I’ve had better. Sumo combo. This combo is filling! It comes with 4 pieces of the: tiger roll, happy roll, poki roll and salemon(which is salmon, lol). The quality of the salmon here is legit and we were real happy with this order. We got to try a little of everything which was great! Chasu in a bun — aka pork buns! Two small portions of pork with some hoisin sauce in a bun. Sounded great(.trust me, o love me a good pork bun ~ mmmmmm Shanghai saloon!) BUT — I could go without this next time. It’s good, but I love mine super fatty, lol. Pork Potstickers. You can get them pan fried or steamed. We ordered them pan fried, but I think they steamed them first and then put a pan seat to it? Although the ingredients were fresh, I could do without it next time as well. Garlic butter chicken wings. If you’ve been to Golden Rice in PQ, these are comparable! They’re good, but not consistent. Some have more kick than the others. If you want some legit wings, head up the street to Hong Kong Xpress. They have some of the best wings in town! All in all, I’m glad I finally got to try this place but definitely won’t order as much next time! It’s nice to know there’s a decent sushi place in the area!

Finally! Poway has a real ramen restaurant! Decided to come in today because a friend has told me that a ramen place opened up near our work. And of course being a ramen fan i just had to try it out. I am glad i did. Entering the restaurant i was greeted with a smile and hostess gave me the choice of seat since i came in at the opening minute. The hostess was very nice and the sushi chef were more than happy to explain their different summer specials. Customer service here is excellent and all are definitely welcoming. I came in hungry so i got three different items. Tonkotsu ramen, Mango roll, and Salmon skin hand roll. Let me start with salmon skin hand roll because every time i go to a sushi place i always get this particular item and it would be a 50⁄50 success. They were 100% on point with this hand roll. The salmon skin was extra crispy(as it should be) so it gave that crunchy texture that i love on hand rolls. It was accompanied by a sweet almost teriyaki(?) sauce that made this hand roll even more delicious. The tonkotsu ramen’s umami was very flavorful. I’ve had a few different tonkotsu ramen before but the flavor on this was a little different but a good way. i have no words to describe this taste except it was delectable. I did wish they gave a little more meat as i had to pay extra to get more. The mango roll was also very good. It was flavorful with the right amount of acidity to put that roll to another level. Parking here is plentiful and so that would not be a problem at all. I am definately coming back and this time with a few friends from work. Looking forward to trying out their other ramens and rolls!

Goodbye Japan House, hello Ikura! Actually, now that I think about it, I don’t think they actually changed any of the layout inside. I swear the tables, chairs, decorations all look the same. But that’s not really important because the menu is pretty different. The big difference is that they have ramen. I tried the tonkatsu ramen and it was good. Not Santouka, Daikokuya, Shin Sen Gumi level good but pretty good for the area. The broth was very flavorful, the egg partially boiled to the right jelly consistency(not over-boiled!) and the pork had just the right amount of fat on it. The one thing I thought could be improved was that it seemed a little light on the amount of noodles. I would order this again. Teriyaki Chicken — the lunch special comes with a small salad, soup, rice, vegetable tempura and very generous amount of cut up chicken. I liked everything except for the glaze. It was a little too sweet and there was way too much of it. It’s kind of like how Orange Chicken is completely covered in glaze… yeah. Pork Katsu — definitely a miss. The pork cutlet was very very thin to start with. Then after you bread and deep fry it and ends up making the meat like a very thin tough fried meat chip. Spicy Hamachi Cut Roll — No complains on the quality of the fish or the flavor but there’s way too much rice. There’s very little fish because literally half of the inside of the roll is also white rice.
