The sushi was awful, and was not fresh. I went on a Monday during their half price traditional roll special. I ordered 2 crunchy shrimp rolls which took 45 minutes to prepare. I was one of 3 other people on the restaurant. The restaurant was also very dirty and the the service was also incredibly slow. I will not be returning.

Worst sushi I’ve experienced in a long time. It’s a run down knock off sushi spot. Not worth your time.

I’ve eaten at almost every sushi place in Knoxville, and this by far is our favorite. The specialty rolls are great, but I must recommend getting the ‘chef’s choice’. Still if first time you can’t go wrong with the Jakes. Pro tip always sit at the bar. Powell’s best restaurant.

Stopped here on our way home to Cincinnati last night and loved it! Food was excellent and server was great! We ordered the Jakes and the Spot rolls… yummy! Wish they would have had more shirts in stock. .would have bought one for sure!

I live pretty close by to this and was looking forward to going as I enjoy sushi a lot. My 3⁄5 is for this reason: +3 for good food and –2 for the wait. And perhaps its not always that way but after our order it was a flat 35 minutes for food. App: The mussels are also very good and full of flavor Soup: Try the mushroom soup Roll: I got the Rainbow roll and it was fantastic Bottom line: The sushi is definitely good if not a little bit better than other local attempts(wasabi, nama).

Very new to the Sushi experience. Enjoyed the sushi here. Just wish they would get their specials more consistent. Went on a Thursday one week and speciality rolls were half price. Them the next week they weren’t. Was told by waitress it was a weekly thing. Oh well will make sure next time before ordering.

Coworker recommended Sushi Spot over Nama. I like them both equally. Price is about the same at Sushi Spot as Nama on the specialty rolls. Basic rolls were a dollar or two less at SS. Atmosphere at Sushi Spot is much more casual and relaxed than Nama. After a long day or week of work I’d prefer a meal in comfort. Sushi Spot wins here. Nama has great selection of unique and artistic rolls. Selection at Sushi Spot is much simpler, but still a nice variety. Most rolls at SS had cream cheese in them– not my favorite sushi ingredient, however, the Dooley roll even with the cream cheese was delicious. Service– I’m glad to report we were over-served on a busy Friday night. May have been confusion with the servers due to a sudden rush of people through the door but much better than no service. Our rolls arrived to our table very quickly even with the crowd. We would have waited two or three times as long at that other place. The simplicity of the rolls at SS pays off in a quicker turn out.

Great sushi! I love sushi and try new places everywhere I travel. This local spot is one of the best and definitely the best here in Knoxville. The entire menu is delicious. If you are a sushi lover then you will not be disappointed. Jake the sushi chef is the best and very creative. Service is always quick and friendly even if they are crowded. They serve beer but no liquor or wine. However, they do have a cork charge that is very reasonable so take your own bottle. The décor is very classy and comfortable.

I really liked the sushi here. I went on a Saturday night, and it was crowded by Powell standards but definitely not as impossible to deal with as any of the West Knoxville sushi restaurants would’ve been at that busy time(which is why we chose it, actually). The atmosphere is nice, it’s dim and the booths are high. There’s a long bar as well which joins the area where the sushi chefs are working. We had Gyoza which was good. I mean, it was typical gyoza but it was fried just right and there was noticeably more chili oil in the sauce than most local places, which I liked. The sushi: I had a Hero roll which was very flavorful. It had crab, tuna, avocado, and calamari(the calamari was perfectly cooked). We also had a Dragon which was tempura shrimp with baked eel, avocado, and cream cheese. This was super yummy too. We had both raw & cooked fish in our rolls, and everything seemed fresh. The service was really good as well. I will definitely go back.

I will tell you this — and you need to understand exactly what I am saying. This is the best sushi in Knoxville. It is the best value in Knoxville. The service(although when it first opened they were hiring worthless eye-candy servers. that have since fixed that) is great(now). You must have the chef’s special roll. $ 15. He will make it EXACTLY how you want it. I absolutely love this place … and it KICKSNAMASBUTT because you can actually get a meal at Sushi Spot and it’s a great value. I have been to Nama, to Tomo(although it’s great), and even to Tai Sushi(liked it too), to Stir-Fry(it better be on sale cause it’s not that good) Café. and you will be glad that you heeded my advise and tried it out.

A hidden jewel in Powell. In my opinion, best sushi in town. Friendly staff and kid friendly! Love the drama queen and dalton roll!

I wish I could say I enjoyed this place. I wish I could say that though they were a bit overpriced, the food and experience was worth it. But I can’t. We were seated at a table and forgotten about. for 10 minutes. no communication from any employee for 10 minutes. No drinks, no food, no service. We just walked out — and I don’t think anyone even noticed. We had several(2 or 3) servers walk by our table while we were seated(My husband claims to have heard a discussion between the servers about«whose table» we were) — but no one took it upon themselves to ask if we’d been served/helped. I will never go back.
