Unfortunately this location has steadily gone down hill over the past year and a half. I’m sad to say my visit last night will most certainly be my last. Ordered an appetizer to split between a party of 6. A different server brought the food with no plates. I asked if we could have 6 and was told«sure no problem.» 10 minutes later and no plates. Couldn’t flag anyone down so I walked over to the kitchen. He saw me and said«oh sorry here you go» and handed me 6 plates to take back to my table. Now I can understand if you’re busy but the restaurant was not even half full. I also have no problem carrying back small plates but why am I tipping for service. 3 of us ordered the all you can eat soup and salad. Two people got salads first and I got my soup. Again not a huge deal but why no consistency. The three of us had a soup and a salad before the other persons entrée and the two kids meals even came out. A Buffalo Chicken wrap and two kids fish and chips shouldn’t take 30 minutes to come out. Sub par food and well below average service unfortunately will probably lead to this restaurant closing. What a shame.

We have been to this place several times and the service is avg at best. Tonight was so bad that I feel a review is necessary. We entered the restaurant at 6:05pm this evening and we sat there till 6:30pm without a single waiter or waitress stopping by. So, I flagged down a waitress and she took our drink order and food order at 6:30pm. Our simple order of fish and chips and a French dip sandwich did not arrive to our table till 7:10pm. The restaurant was not packed at all nor was their a wait when we got there or when we left. We were approached by the manager during our meal and he had the worse customer service ever! He was laughing trying to lighten the mood which was over dramatic and quite annoying! The final straw was he offered to pay half the bill for our inconvenience which the final bill was $ 25.00 before tip. I literally laughed at the manager and said«If you need the $ 12.50, that bad I will pay the full bill»! Summing up the experience, this place needs an overhaul on the manager end and the kitchen end. This restaurant is in a small town and if they continue the poor service they will not last!

Service here was awful. I’m assuming it was just our section but it was simply terrible. Food was decent so I’d give them another shot based on that

I’ve been here a few times and have had a generally pleasant experience each time. I think the food is quite good, particularly their burgers! However, certain requests don’t always come out as ordered(I ordered my fries extra crispy, they were very soft). It sounds like the kitchen may be very set in their ways, from what other reviews say, so be wary of substitutions or special requests. Service has always been friendly, but is often very slow. I don’t know if this is because of the kitchen, or the servers, but each time I’ve come, no matter how busy it is, I feel like I’m waiting forever for my food. Overall the food is good, but my best guess is that there’s something going on in the kitchen that’s slowing food down and ignoring special requests. Definitely don’t go here if you’re in a rush.

Nice large space– this is pretty much what you would expect of a pub. There are craft beer offerings and your usual pub fare. The all you can eat Fish and Chips night is pretty great, though I really can only eat one serving(two hearty pieces of fish), so all you can eat is really for the truly hardcore! Service was friendly, though they were busy and it seemed to take a while to get the check(Friday evening). Easy place for groups to eat.

Restaurant has 8 table for dinner tonight and the wait for our food after order was 50 minutes. When it did it was cold and this was our second and last try for this problem. Waitress was new and very apathetic. I can’t image it will be open much longer in Powell with the much better options of Kraft house, prohibition, local roots etc. this is a service industry you have to get that right. This review only after the manager called us and personally invited us back after we had the same issue on a previous visit. Clearly the problems haven’t been resolved.

This location is by far the worst of the chain. It is not kept clean at all. The service is slow. Don’t ask to substitute anything because the cooks have everything pre measured and can’t be inconvenienced by a customer request. You can’t even pay an up charge to substitute! Wow, making a customer happy even when they’re willing to pay more is such an inconvenience to this place. The manager is not genuine and kind of gives you the creeps. I guess it starts with bad management.

Omg. Slow food service. Way to loud. I swore them off a few months ago, I don’t know why I came back. Back on the no list.

Whenever I want fish and chips, I always go to Old Bag. Last night was the first time my husband and I went to this location — we used to frequent the Hard Road location before it closed down. The location is nice, and the inside is very nicely done. We sat in one of the booths that had a television in it, though we couldn’t figure out if we could change the channel — I’m sure we could have asked but it wasn’t a huge deal. The food — fantastic. I got the fish and chips and my fish filets were huge and fried to perfection. The fries were mildly disappointing — I don’t think they were seasoned once they came out of the fryer. The husband got the Hob Nob, and he really enjoyed it. They also had some fun drink specials — I can’t remember what he got, but it had Ginger beer and Jim Beam Devil’s Cut and it was delicious. The service was… well it seemed a little hectic. I don’t know if they were short staffed or what but we were by the kitchen and we could hear all the bitching of the servers about stuff. Our server was really hesitant and quiet and just seemed really out of place in a loud pub style restaurant. I don’t know if he was new, or just someone that shouldn’t be a server. I would definitely go back just to see if the fish is that amazing every time, and I always recommend Old Bag of nails if you are looking for good fish and chips in Columbus.

This place is a mixed bag. We’ve been here a few times due to our love of endless foods. Typically the fish is fantastic and crispy, but there have been a couple pieces that felt refried or left over from too big of a batch being cooked. The restaurant is nice with about 5 booths that have personal televisions in addition to the many hanging around the bar. The service is inconsistent to say the least. We’ve had over bearing waitresses that bring us fish refills we didn’t want or ask for or non existent waiters who’ve left our drinks empty for 15 minutes or made us wait just as long for a bowl of their delicious clam chowder. We won’t stop going unless the food takes a downturn, but you never know what server you might get, so try to go in with an easy mind knowing he or she might not be so great and enjoy all that fish!

Ate there when they first moved to that location. We don’t remember what it was, but we never went back. If we want OBN, we normally go to other locations. Decided to go to there today on our way out of town. We had to stand at the entrance way and wait for someone to seat us even though they saw us. Finally a guy, I think the manager came over and seated us. The waitress took our order and we waited and waited, probably 20 minutes or so and nothing. Finally we asked another waitress to check on our food and a couple minutes later, the original waitress came over to the table, leaned over and whispered that she had forgot to place our order. We got up to leave and the manager came over and asked if there was anything he can do or if we wanted a free meal. Word to the manager: You know, if you’re trying to keep me as a satisfied customer work on the service issues. This was a slow Thursday afternoon and I’m not willing to chance what the wait time would be on say a Friday of Saturday night. We don’t want your handouts, we just want good service. And BTW, calling customers«hon» is not only condescending, it’s really tacky.

We ate at Old Bag of Nails earlier this evening. My wife and I were in the mood for Fish & Chips. The service was good. The Fish & Chips were also good. The fish was hot enough to burn your mouth. The chips could have stayed in the fryer for a few more seconds. All and all a good meal. Will return.

I have to agree with others that the service there is hit or miss but for us it has been more miss than hit. Tip to the management — do not take a smoke break when your restaurant is slammed. Next tip — when you have people waiting and there are tables open that just need bussed, then bus them. To the waiter, when you bring out the kids food and say that yours is up and will be right out, don’t turn around and take the order at the six top. Love Old Bag of Nails but I am going to pass on this location from now on. Drive to Delaware you want be disappointed.

When you get a hankering for Great fish this is the place to go! Powell, Ohio location All you can eat fish every night. Wednesday’s are all you can eat fish or shrimp. The Waitress we had was great, and the atmosphere was like an old time pub. Refreshments were not bad either.

Casey was our server… Great guy and he took excellent care of us. Casey’s manager Remo even checked in on us twice. Good food as always you can’t go wrong with good people like Casey and Remo!

I sincerely think our waiter had a massive hangover. The guy kept running into things, his eyes were majorly drowsy looking, and he was moving sloooooowly. When he arrived to the table my mom asked, «How are you?» and he replied stoically, «Living the dream.» Whoa dude. Way to start off on a weird foot. I think it’s gross they have TVs at the booths. If we had been sat at a booth I’d have wanted it turned off. As much as I disliked the décor and the waiter(I went to the bathroom at one point and he stood staring up at a TV, as my soda sat empty), the food was excellent. I had the clam basket, which, if you like clams you can’t get much better. The people I dined with had the rustic burger and steak fries, which looked good, and the shrimp and chips, the shrimp were fantastic. My daughter had the kids menu chicken strips and they were juicy and had a nice crunchy batter. In spite of his seeming hangover, the waiter’s performance was adequate. We had to wait for/ask for refills and our food took longer to come out than expected. There were maybe 3 other tables around 1 on a Sunday, so it’s not like they were swamped. I’d go back for the food for sure, but I wouldn’t go on a day I was feeling particularly impatient.

Not all Old Bag locations can captivate or wow me, but my visit to this location on a slow Saturday afternoon proved to be perfect. For a Saturday afternoon this place was deader than a door nail, but I imagine all the Buckeye fanatics were out running errands before the big game. We had our pick of the place seating wise, so with the perfect weather of 70 something degrees with hints of a sunny fall like day… we decided. PATIO it is. The indoors is pretty cool, too. They actually have TVs EVERYWHERE and they have personal TVs in the booths as well, which is like an UBER plus for people who want to watch another game without disrupting the entire consensus. Our service was insanely good. Our server knew what we wanted, she wasn’t constantly floating around, but brought us items without even having to ask. Plus, she was super nice and gave personal recommendations and not some«soup of the day» jargon, either. I’m so glad I got what she recommended, because it was SOOOO good. I ordered a sandwich which represented something like a Po’ Boy, but not exactly. It was grilled shrimp, fried green tomatoes, bacon and other toppings on a pretzel bun. Seriously… it was soooo good. Try it before it’s gone. Like many bag of nails food consistency is usually where they seem to lack, but my visit here at this location proved to be satisfactory at all levels. Don’t come here with your Frivolous Yuppie preconceptions that this is like a Matt the Millers, or some other pretentious and non realistic pub catered to mid life crisis and young professionals and you can appreciate what they have to offer. Remember folks, it’s a chain. Not a four star Mitchell’s restaurant.

I’ve been to this location a couple times. I really had to debate between a 1 or 2 stars, but considering that I have had major swings in service here, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Bottom line, service is inconsistent. I have been here at times and the service was spot-on. My last visit there, I honestly felt ignored — and they were NOT busy. Nobody greeted us at the entrance and there was not any sign posted about waiting to be seated. Nobody approached us, either. Yet there were plenty of staff about. We seated ourselves at a booth. Several staff passed us several times. After more than 10 minutes, we got up to leave. I stopped someone and asked for whether a manager was available. The person said yes and asked if he could help me. I assume he was a manager. I explained what did not happen and that we were leaving. To his credit, he offered to pay for our meals if we stayed, but I declined and left another place. Other times I have been here, the service has been mediocre to excellent. The food has always been pretty good. I do enjoy the all you can eat fish & chips for $ 12.99. It’s very reasonable. The initial portion size is quite substantial. As this location is reasonable close to me, I will likely venture a return trip and try them out again, but I am really going to have to be in the mood for some fish & chips to want to venture in and give them another go.

Let me start by saying I love Old Bag. I think I’ve been to every location. Tonight was my first venture here. They are still busy, even on a late Friday night. They said 15 – 20 — it took 15 – 20. We were seated, and our server was there right away. They still have a decent beer selection, and their service is definitely fast, despite the amount of people. The manager even caught my look of disdain over my meal and wouldn’t let it be with me saying«it was okay.» The three stars are for their service, tonight. My blackened chicken was rubbery, and nearly impossible to chew or cut. The broccoli was lackluster, and looked like it was covered in grease from the fryer. My dates fish was perfect — crispy, flaky, fresh. Her fries, however, were not. They were mushy, undercooked. Well, when the manager refused to take my «okay» he said he would comp the sandwich. When bill time came, it wasn’t comped. That’s the loss of a star. Please, don’t make a big deal out of my dissatisfaction and then fail to deliver. Followed by the«here is your check» without asking if we would like another drink? I was a little dissatisfied. All in all, this wasn’t worth the wait. I may return, if for some reason I think I should give them a chance, or someone just has to have the«Old Bag» experience.

Housed in what used to be The Lost Shepard we now have that wonderful chain establishment — Old Bag of Nails; a new joint to hang out at! I’ve driven past these places here and in London but never got around to going in one until — you guessed it — we drove past this one and noticed the sign said Now Open! WTH! It was as good a time as any to go explore and so glad we did! They have all you can eat fish and chips everyday for $ 12.99! The shrimp and chips is $ 13.99 but only on Wednesday. Hubs had the fish and chips and I might add other than needing malt vinegar and a wee bit extra bit of salt — yumness. As an appetizer we had the mussels and shrimp — not too shabby. I had the pride of the pub spinach salad with blackened scallops. It was a good salad and even though the scallops were spiced just great — toooooooooooooo much spinach and not enough blue cheese chunks. The portabella’s and onions straws were just about right. We hit it on day #2 of opening and there were a few mistakes made with what they brought out but nothing that wasn’t fixed with a smile and speed. Good service here. And the fact we sat at a booth with it’s own tv — well hot damn! Just wish I knew how to change the channel. Was not interested in NBA draft. Happy hour is from 2 – 7 so there is a time slot I must get to and kids eat free all day Sunday(a day for me to avoid). Looking forward to returning and exploring more of the menu. Welcome to this part of town, OBON.
