Wow, this is such a great quaint café in a beautiful little downtown area! We are not from Powhatan, and were looking for a good meal when we had an hour to kill during an event at the junior high school. Unilocal led us there and we couldn’t have been happier. As we pulled up, it was very promising — it’s a charming little house with a very well manicured parking area. The interior was very attractive as well — very fresh and clean. It’s very simple, but whoever decorated has a good eye for design. There is a nice patio as well, though it was too chilly for us to try that out. The menu is appealing, with both healthy and comfort food options, and some ambition in the ingredients. Everything was cooked well, and the kids loved the ice cream selection for dessert. If ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!

Based on one visit after a Labor Day parade, we stopped partly because we could sit outside with our dog. Even though they were very busy, the staff was pleasant and efficient. We ordered veggie panninis with fries and large iced coffees. The coffee was tasty, with just a little more cream than we normally like. The fries were great, hot and lightly salted. The sandwich was good too, well grilled with decent swiss cheese and a little bit of pesto. Would definitely stop again!

For a small local place the menu is diverse. We usually stop for burgers and buffalo chicken salad. Quaint and cozy. Love that they have a decent Pinot Grigio. If get there early enough they even bring you a mini cupcake with the check. I’m a bit of s cupcake snob but they are very good. The competition in the village needs to take a lesson and revamp their menu or Mabel’s will become«the» place,

Attentive service and some unexpected menu options(fried Apple on my turkey club) made for a pleasant lunch stop on the way back to Richmond.

The Powhatan Pacer(running group) visited Mabels in Powhatan, VA for breakfast. We were roughly a group of 15. We made a reservation a week earlier to ensure that they had time to accomodate us. Upon entering the store we can see lots of baked goods and Hersey ice cream. Amy got a salted caramel square and loved it. The bite I had tasted like a tasty cobbler crust. I asked for a fruit cup, of which I didn’t see on the menu. I was pleased to see that they had fruits cause I wasn’t too hungry due to a late night souvlaki stop. It was a good size and tasted decent but nothing to write home about. I would have like to see more pineapple and less canned peaches. Amy had the egg and cheese on a english muffin and enjoyed it. Cole had the pancakes and bacon. Coles loved the pancakes, they looked really good. We ordered first and had our food shortly after. Although the food was good there was a 45 min to an hour wait between the first person in our group eating and the last. At first, the server came out calling out the dish not knowing who it went too, which was reminiscent of Erins disorganized service. I made a comment about it and it was quickly resolved with each persons name called out. Alan and Karen got their food last after a very long wait. Amy and others tried to wait but gave up and ate cold food. I’m glad that Erins closed and a new restaurant opened in its place. I will eat here again and recommend the food. I hope that Mabel listens to their customers and addresses the concerns from this visit. I would have given 4 stars if food arrived somewhat together.

Great little restaurant. Erin’s and the ice cream place in town merged to form this. It’s exactly where Erin’s was located. I’ve only had the burgers but they are diverse. Many people here continue to eat at county seat and four seasons but I think they are both pretty terrible. Go to this place and give them some business so they stay alive. Great onion rings too! I recommend the highway man burger!
