Everything on the menu is delicious. Great Gumbo, excellent Louisiana cooking. Jambalaya, grilled shrimp poboy. I like to sit at the bar and eat by myself. I want to concentrate on my food !

Meet some friends for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I live in Prairieville but have never been here. We got hush puppies and onion rings for appetizers. Both were phenomenal. I ordered the half and half. Half a grilled shrimp poboy and broccoli and cheddar soup. The sandwich was hands down the best I have ever eaten. Soup was not that good. The atmosphere was nice. There was a pretty sizable dinner rush then it quieted down quick. Our waitress was kinda goofy– she was not my favorite but not bad at all. They were out of fried green tomatoes and bread pudding. My group was saddens by this. Lack of star is due to that and waitress. Overall, I would totally go back!

I’ve been very impressed both times I’ve eaten here. The stuffed shrimp is amazing with a nice variety of steamed veggies and the fried green tomato BLT is awesome! I was a little disappointed with the shrimp, corn, and potato soup. It looked and tasted like it had been reheated a few times. And the steamed veggies didn’t have any seasoning and were sitting in a pool of water when they came out. This place is definitely a nice find. It could use a little work but overall it’s really good. We will be back for sure!

My family and I love this place! We order out from here often. They have amazing food, the salads are always, they have great grilled shrimp, boudin balls, the works! All of their food tastes good.

I am so glad to have a convenient Dempsey’s! I worked near the Coursey location and ate there for years. I have probably tried 90% of the menu and it is all FANTASTIC! They have the best chicken gumbo I have ever had by a landslide!

This is a very casual restaurant in a strip shopping center. The food at this place is top-notch… even better than many high-end restaurants in the Baton Rouge area. Seafood is fresh and fabulous. Quantities are huge, though, especially the fried fish plate. Menu pairings are thoughtful and show that they really understand Louisiana food. If you want a casual restaurant with fantastic food, this is a great place.

I have eaten here many times. The food is always fresh and good. Overall a good experience. Seafood Gumbo is always a good choice. Last two times I had a waiter who was not very personable which takes away from the experience and may bring them to three stars if they don’t work with him.

Food is always good. Can’t beat the«Cup and a Half» meal. Gumbo is tasty and hearty. Fries are homemade. Servings are generous.

Crab cakes are especially tasty. full of real crabmeat, dressing is moist and nicely seasoned and a crispy crust cooked to perfection. Definitely a must try!

Last minute dinner decision. We called in an order for 2 catfish baskets. Tons of fish! Next time we will order the dinner and split it. Sides were jambalaya and the black eyed peas and green bean mix. Both sides were great. The hush puppies were so authentic, they would have been best served feeding to the dawgs– just fried batter, no flavor. Catfish was cooked perfectly. Why not 5 stars? Because the catfish itself was not a high quality fillet and had a lot of the silver fishy lining that we don’t like. We will be back for sure!

Nice spot for lunch. Filled by 12:30. Comfortable service and good food. Seafood gumbo was good as were crab stuffed shrimp. Shrimp were a bit small but loaded with crabmeat. Worth the trip.

Consistently, reliably good bar & grill food and Louisiana seafood. Easily on par with Sammy’s, without the long wait times and noisy crowds. The soups and gumbos here are especially good in the winter. The poboys are also awesome. I like their French dip better than most in the BR area. Service is always friendly and attentive, although the food does not always come out super fast. It’s never been long enough for me to complain; just sometimes feels a tad slower than similar establishments.(Definitely not a reason to skip going there. Even if you’re starving, there are baskets of crackers on the tables). Dempsey’s is definitely worth a visit.

Exactly what Prairieville needed, gumbo is a true winner, stuffed potatoes were amazing. We have eaten her 4 – 5 times, always excellent food. Keep up the great work

The onion rings/strings are a MUST! They are so delicious and also comes with a side of ranch and remoulade sauce. YUMMM! I ordered the half fried shrimp Poboy and it was good. Had a lot of shrimp falling out of it. Also ordered the 2 jumbo lump crab cakes. They were okay. I think they were a little too over cooked. I will be coming back soon… especially for those onion rings!
