My family and I went today to eat here. I have been here before and have had service and food from one end of the spectrum to the other. Today, after standing at the door in front of the«wait to be seated» sign for a time, a waitress looked up and yelled to us to sit anywhere. We sit and someone comes to bring our menus and then disappears. We watch as another table gets seated and waited on and finally my husband gets up to ask if we were going to be served after we watch plenty of servers looking and pointing at us as if they are fighting over who is going to take our table. The guy who’s prepping the food(I assume he’s a manager) went and grabbed a server to help us and she did a very great job, even giving us a free appetizer. I’m afraid the damage was already done considering it is an open space and we could see that none of the servers wanted to serve us. The food was decent. I had a seafood combo platter that looked very skimpy compared to all the other places in the area. The fish wasn’t seasoned very well, but the red beans and rice I got as a side were very tasty. The tartar sauce seemed old because it was very stiff and yellow. I decided not to try it at all. My son had the fried crawfish and they were very bland. We ordered dessert and were told that none of the desserts on the menu were available, so we settled for the almond cream cake. It was mostly whipped cream and just okay. I would give less stars for this visit, but I have had more pleasing visits. The food is inconsistent though.

I have ordered gumbo twice and shrimp corn soup and they may have 2 to 3 shrimps. The food has good flavor but they skimp on the seafood. Will not go back unless it changes. $ 8 for almost a bowl of juice is a little much.

Cute little place to stop for a quick bite. Fresh seafood, always cooked well. Nice portions. Big wrap around booths are nice when you have a larger party, especially with kids. The waiters have always been super nice and attentive, although during peak hours they seemed to be pulled in every which way. Bonus: They bring little Oreo packets for kids in hopes that they’ll make a «happy plate.» :)

We finally tried Tommy’s Fish House today and were pleased. We started off with bowls of seafood gumbo — very good roux with tasty shrimp. I would have loved a little more meat/substance, but pretty good taste overall. The shining star of our visit was our waitress Tierra. She had lots of energy, an ever present smile and was very attentive. Even when there was a small miscommunication regarding our order selection, she handled it coolly and with ease. The sensation salad and hushpuppies were also very good. My daughter had the grilled cheese kids menu. A nice portion of cheese between two thick buttery slices of bread with a generous portion of crispy fries, a hushpuppies and Oreos. We ordered the appetizer sampler for our meal. The hot crab dip was the best I’ve ever had! It was creamy, flavorful and served with great crispy wonton(?) chips — absolutely delicious. It also came with fried shrimp in a spicy sauce, fried alligator and seafood boullietes(sp?). The seafood balls/boullietes were mediocre; not too much flavor. The alligator was pretty good. The manager stopped by to check in(always appreciated) and the other servers seemed to genuinely be enjoying serving. I should have tried the fried catfish, but everything we tried was pretty good. I will definitely return and look forward to my next visit.

The fried shrimp are good but I’d rather take out its too loud inside. The fresh seafood deli is great when I want to grill my own fish and the prices are reasonable. They also have all the seafood for my homemade gumbo. The staff is very friendly. I guess I can give you guys five stars it’s not your fault that people like to talk loud in restaurants. Some people just don’t know any better.

Don’t listen to the old reviews on here. This place is great. I had ½ lb of boiled shrimp which was very good. Good flavor and not overcooked. Also got a dinner plate with fried oysters and fried gator. The gator was okay, but the oysters were good. I judge good seafood restaurants on how good their fried oysters are and these were good. My fiancé got a dinner plate with fried shrimp, oysters, & soft shell crab. Her only complaint was that the crabs didn’t have claws(which is her favorite part). Their hush puppies were also good(which is also the staple of a good seafood place). The service was great and the beer was cold. All in all a good experience. We’d go back again.

Local hole in the wall style seafood joint which also includes a seafood market, behind the restaurant. Seating is available both inside and out but parking is limited. The chargrilled oyster appetizer was rather tasty, but lacked the usual lemons, oyster forks and French bread that most restaurants will include. It’s a shame that the leftover butter and garlic had to be thrown away with no bread to dip in there. I ordered the crab cake sandwich on sour dough. I enjoyed the sandwich and thought it was flavored well. It was rather filling, especially with the bread and I left full. I didn’t find a need for one, but someone else may not be pleased with the fact that a side was not provided with the sandwich. Service was okay, the waiter was a young guy who tried his best, but forgot several things and disappeared for periods at a time. But hey, who can be mad at a polite young kid for having a job?

The food here is delicious! Great shrimp poboys and alligator balls. The Boiled seafood is also good. It’s a nice place in our community. The décor is really cool and the service is good! They always have a crowd. If you’re in the area, stop by for good food and a fun time or place an order for take out.

First time to eat here. Would have given it 4 stars but I just felt the waitress should have know more about the items on the menu. Good service just lacked information. Food was good. Will try again soon and see it it gets the extra star.

I finally got to try this place after hearing good things for quite awhile now. I was unfortunately pretty disappointed. It was not what I thought it would be. It’s possible it was an «off» day, which is why I gave it three stars instead of two. We had the boiled shrimp which didn’t have much flavor. They did put it back in the pot to help it out, but it only made a slight difference. We also had the Catfish w/crawfish étouffée. It was pretty good. I was in the mood for a crab cake sand which, which done right is very delicious. This is where we had the problem. The crab cake was huge… but dry. It had a ton of breading and very little crab. It felt like I was eating a sandwich with a piece of Texas toast in the middle. The waitress didn’t even pay attention to the fact that I didn’t eat the food. We told her and it was just like«oh I’m sorry!» And that was it. No offer to make the situation better… Simply put it was 12.95 waisted, smh. Don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.

Super casual place to grab a quick bite to eat. We got there for about 5 and there were maybe three tables occupied. I ordered the grilled shrimp po-boy while the hubs ordered the combo plate. He had shrimp, alligator, and catfish on top a bed of fries. There were SO many shrimp on my sub! It was really yummy! Husband lived the gator, said it was cooked perfectly. Missing star is for our waitress. She was hanging out way too much with some young patron, possibly a boyfriend. Several times we had to wait on her to come to the table.

This place has very tasty food. They are known for seafood and that is what they should stick with… Their crawfish and other seafood items are great. I love the alligator balls they are great, even the fries are good! They have wing night on Tuesdays they are not so good. They know nothing about wings. This was disappointing but on the bright side the rest of the food is very reassuring. The staff are very friendly and nice. They are always smiling and seem to really love their job. They are also so polite and makes you feel at home. It is always cold in this place like freezing which can make it feel a little uncomfortable but the food and great at home atmosphere will warm you right up.

This seafood is exactly what I needed! I’ve wanted a good, old-fashioned fish and shrimp platter for a while. First, the décor was very authentic, as if you were on a fishing dock in New Orleans or Pensacola. The smell was exactly what I’d been missing when I’d dined at other seafood restaurants — a mixture of salt water, fresh seafood, and hot grease frying Gulf coast seafood. This can probably be partly attributed to the seafood market connected to the restaurant. My order came out swiftly and was piping hot! The salad vegetables were crisp, and the perfect appetizer to enjoy before diving into the seafood platter. The fries were buttery and crispy and the fish and shrimp were fried to perfection — not too soft or too hard. The fish just flaked off and melted into my mouth and the shrimp had a sweet and briny flavor. I enjoyed watching Sports Center as I dined, and the waiter was attentive. I ordered a slice of house-made cheesecake with raspberry sauce to-go. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the creamy, sweet treat! The cocktail was delicious, but the only reason I didn’t give the restaurant 5 stars is because I think more flavor could be imparted into the hush puppies(corn kernels, bell pepper, and onion) and tartar(thin out a little and add more sweet relish and onion) and remoulade sauces(more spice, horseradish, etc.). Everyone should visit Tommy’s Fish House to experience a beautifully cooked, old-fashioned, Louisiana seafood platter! Sometimes you just want it how you remember it… GOOD!

Tommy’s was good for a few months when it first opened, then it nose dived. Bad service, mediocre food. We stayed away for a couple years. Recently, there’s new management team and staff in place, and they’ve remodeled. The food and service are MUCH better. It’s worth going if you’ve never been, and worth going back if you were one of the disillusioned former patrons.

Being from San Diego, CA. This was our first time here in louisana and this was our first stop … found this place by using Unilocal. And I must say we weren’t disappointed at all! The red beans and rice was by far the best! We even tried some frog legs — not something we normally eat but it wasn’t bad at all. Always fun to try new things when visiting new places. I wish I lived near by because I would totally take advantage of buying the fresh seafood in the raw bar! Tha KS for the great food and experience.

Heard mixed reviews but wanted to try lunch for myself. Kind of dated dusty atmosphere. Ordered calamari for appetizer. All rings and all same size like prepackaged frozen, and tasted like it, chewy and bland. Normally fresh calamari comes with the separated tentacles and the rings are not all the exact same size. Ordered hamburger and fries. Fries were so so and hamburger to bun ratio was disproportionate. Hamburger tasted good but was smothered by the bun. The wait staff appeared to have lots of free time to goof and guffaw while there were areas that could use some extra attention. Just because the décor is like an old garage doesn’t mean the dirt and cob webs should be a part of it. When dust and cobwebs hang from ceilings it’s a simple assumption that it’s in the food.

4 ½ stars. I found Tommy’s Fish House after playing a round of golf up the street. I called to see if they were open still BC they close early on Sunday and Christian said to come in but he only had crawfish left. We started off with a dozen of oysters on the half shell for only $ 6.00 and ordered 5lbs of crawfish for $ 19.97. The quality of oysters and crawfish were outstanding and the craw-fish was the freshest and some of the best tasting I’ve ever eaten! Christan who’s the owners son was hospitable and so friendly. I chatted with him about their seafood distribution business and restaurants which I found out are family run. This establishment is not only a restaurant but they offer fresh seafood for purchase and was completely sold out being it was the end of the weekend. The place seemed like a locals favorite BC many of the patrons were coming in just to pick up the boiled craw-fish to go and is made with their own special recipe. If you’re in the Baton Rouge area don’t miss this gem of a place or check out their finer dinning location in New Orleans called Redemption. The building just turned 100 years old and was a church at one time and is their second restaurant location.
