I do not understand the wonderful reviews. I must hear missed something. The service was particularly bad. Had to ask for water FOUR times. No refills on coffee were offered. The food was ok but nothing special based on these glowing reviews. Both hubby and I had indigestion after eating their breakfast. We won’t go back.

Fantastic home atmosphere and home cooked recipes. The staff was great and helpful. They enjoyed the work and had fun with it. The food was great like you’d expect from your grandma. Very homey feel with décor and couches.

I searched Prescott valley for ‘smoothies’ and this was one of the top of the list. The restaurant was beautiful and the brunch looked delicious! Unfortunately the smoothies were aweful. I think it was just fruit juice or syrup blended with ice and water, I’m not sure if there was any real fruit in there :(we also had a blueberry muffin that was delious, and I suspect the other baked good were good here, but don’t get a smoothie, you will be disappointed. In fact, I recommend this restaurant stop selling smoothies all together because it is a big let down compared to the rest of what your restaurant has to offer.

My husband had lunch there and we were both extremely satisfied with our meals. The food was great as well as the service. Will definitely go there again.

Decided to stop by after reading all the great reviews and we’re so happy we did! Great friendly staff and delicious food. The apple pancakes and lemon curd French toast was perfect! We ate outside to enjoy the nice breeze. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went there on my lunch break with coworkers twice. Both times, there was a very long wait for the food. About 30 minutes. Both times, by the time the food arrived we had to eat fast in order to get back to work on time. The food was good both times. I really liked the cold pea salad. The menu is pretty limited, though. It’s a cute place.

Went for lunch Sat. At noon. Seated quickly, waited about 10 minutes for someone to take drink order and another 10 just for water with lemon. Server then told us she was waiting for the computer to take our order because she would forget it otherwise. Long story short, we sat for MORE than an hour to get our food. Loud place, hard seats. The food, when it finally arrived was very good. The Plates were not garnished at all. Would I go there again? Only if I was going during an off time, or had no set time constraints. …maybe. also, the ladies room was not well maintained. I understand the intrinsic difficulty involved in the physical layout of the building. However, it could go much more smoothly with better organization and training.

Found this place on Unilocal and it did not disappoint. We had the meatloaf sandwich which was delicious. I normally don’t like meatloaf that much but this was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Met the owner and had to compliment her on what a nice establishment she had. She then introduced us to her daughter, the chef, Denise, who is not only an expert cook but is also amazingly sweet. Her cookies and pastries are to die for! We will be coming back on the regular for sure.

I drove down from Sedona with 3 other people especially to dine here and it did not disappoint. The only negative I would have to say is that it’s nearly impossible to choose from the menu as so many delicious choices. I got the Southern Stack which OMG was hearty and savory – it carried me all the way to dinner. My friends sampled the orange pancakes and let me tell you, I’m not even a pancake lover and the flavor on those pancakes was like the most delicious dessert but not as sweet. My mouth is watering right now remembering them. Next time I go back, I will insist my dining companion share those with me. I love the cute décor and all the nice little touches. Oh and do not miss the potato breakfast hash brown casserole. OMG, I could take a bath in that stuff! Denise is awesome too and provides such a homey atmosphere. Fast and perfect service, the coffee was also on point and I am kind of a coffee snob. I just wish she was at MY home making breakfast for me every weekend!

Food & atmosphere are whimsical & incredible. The type of place where you can’t be in a hurry. Some of us had breakfast & some had lunch so it was perfect for all

Walking up you already start feeling happy — nice patio, nice approach. MENU is fun and fresh and easy to understand. Great service. Great FRESH foods. We shared 3 sandwiches and each was outstanding in its own way. The Green Chile Pork was rich and full flavored, not oily. Grilled Cheese with a kick was perfectly delivered and the meatloaf with spinach was splendid. SIDES are tasty and nicely complement the dishes — the pea salad was so good(NOT canned peas, REAL peas!!). The rich, buttery(butterscotch? toffee?) cookies made it hard to leave… but we will be back with Reinforcements so we can order more and try more… Eat Local, Be Happy!

The wife and I were up in the area for the day. We stopped in after looking at all the great reviews. It was a great experience. Many items on the menu you don’t usually see for breakfast. I loved the Southern Stack it was filling. The wife got Breakfast Bruschetta with artichoke it was awesome. They have fresh baked muffins daily, we ordered one and were full from the food so we took it home. The cinnamon tea is great. We had to wait about 45 minutes for the food because there is only one cook. They do tell you about the wait when you sit down. The wait was worth it. If in the area again we will probably visit again.

Stopped in here for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday morning on the way through town. We shared two entrees — a breakfast burrito and the orange marmalade pancakes. The burrito you pick from a list of ingredients what you want in it. It was definitely good but not spectacular. I actually thought that the side dish, a hash brown casserole type thing, was the star of the plate. The pancakes were delicious — just dense enough without being too dense and just thin enough without being too thin. However, they were incredibly sweet and I don’t think I’d order them again because it’s just too much sweetness for me. I really could only handle about 3 bites of it and had to stop eating them. If they could cut back the sweet down to about 1⁄3 of what it is, these would be the most incredible pancakes on the planet. The building and setup is very country cottage — shabby chic looking. Very cute. I loved that they had random different types of tables to accommodate a group of 2 or a group of probably 20. There was no wait, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, they bring you ‘thank you’ cookies when they bring the bill! I’d definitely go back, but might try more of the lunch foods next time.

As of this writing, I have officially visited this wonderfully quaint café in Prescott Valley 4 times now! Two of these times were just to get away from the office. The other was to visit a friend, and the most recent one was during our normal road trip Saturday that my wife and I partake of. This place just reminds me of the many bed and breakfast’s in rural New England, and the atmosphere and the everyone’s friendliness is just simply invigorating. I like being able to take my time, with no cares, and no hurried agenda to get anywhere! Where exactly you would go and what you would do in Prescott Valley eludes me, but there are people that live and enjoy the lifestyle. So, more power to them. I make short work of the trip to this place for lunch, just as long as I avoid the cop that sits in Mayer waiting for some poor sap that doesn’t slow down on the curve from the I-17 exit(tip right there!). And Blackboard Café’s slogan of «Yum, with a side of awesome!» definitely fulfills the nature of their offerings. Nothing spectacular or earth shattering, but tastefully and freshly prepared to satisfy the most stalwart of discerning diners. I had the Green Chile Pork Sandwich with the pickles(which were to die for) and my wife had the Spicy Beef soup with Soba noodles. Both of these dishes just made our day; especially, since it was 32 degrees outside and it was just cozy in the restaurant with the fireplace on. The atmosphere was simply so friendly, and everyone(including the other patrons) just made the whole experience worthwhile. We did not want to leave, but alas, they close at 2PM. So, we drudged along to the car, amidst the cold and snowy parking lot, longing for our return to this wonderful example of rural dining in the heart of Prescott Valley!

This place doesn’t look anything much from the main road but it transforms into a cute and adorable little place both inside and also outside in the rear patio area. There were one or two vegetarian options on the menu so we opted for the scrambles with our choice of 3 fillings. I had pesto, spinach and tomato which was a tasty combo. I was being good and so chose a side of fruit but hubby went for the cheesy hash — oh yum! They also offered a choice of three homemade jams too, and the ones I tried were really nice. Overall, the food was tasty and the portion sizes reasonable for a light brunch.

Everything great about this place! Quaint little café, great food, great service, very affordable and a cute little play area for my 2 year old! Definitely recommend! We ate: Lemon French Toast, apple muffin, eggs, sausage, hash brown casserole, toast & tortilla.
