My husband had the ribeye, and I had the salmon. Both proteins were cooked and seasoned well. The salmon was very small for the price. The sides were bad, for the most part. Veggies were rubbery, and we suspect they were frozen. The fries were also rather plain and uninspiring. The zuppa tasted of cream of mushroom and raw flour. It was also thick like country gravy. The turkey noodle soup and the mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty good. The main reason I’m giving 1 star is because the service was awful. It seems like the kitchen and waitstaff are quite disorganized and don’t communicate well. Our drink orders took forever, and they had to come back and ask us what drinks we’d ordered again, since it had been so long. They cooked and brought out our main food before our soups. We had to ask them for utensils. Our son ordered a pb&j, and they forgot about it and had to ask us what he’d ordered after they brought us our other food. By the time we got our soup, we were well into eating our meals. So we could either choose to finish our meals and let the soup get cold, or eat our soup and let the rest of our meals get cold. The explanation our waitress gave for the soups being late was that the kitchen was backed up, and they sometimes miss reading the soup orders on the tickets. No real apology or empathy. She just blamed the kitchen. None of the waitresses who waited on us smiled or were very friendly. The hostess seemed nice. We were not asked if we wanted dessert or offered a dessert menu at the end of our meal. So we went elsewhere for dessert. We’ll not be going back to this restaurant again.

We were a party of six so we tried 4 of the burgers, the philly and the hot wings. Everyone loved their food! The hot hot wings were extremely spicy beware! My son loved them but his nose ran and drank 3 glasses of water to get through them.

New York Deli & Steak House is one of very few dining options in Preston, Idaho, but who needs tons of options when the one existing choice has achieved perfection? I was blown away by the quality of food at this restaurant. I came expecting something mediocre, but everything was fresh and very, very good. I started with a bowl of butternut squash soup. You guys, it was transcendent. SOGOOD. The waitress also brought a couple of really amazing, fresh rolls to the table with the soup. After viewing a photo of the chicken fried steak on Unilocal,I was compelled to order it. I’m glad that I did, just to satisfy my curiosity, but I’ll probably never get it again. It’s enormous, beautiful, and delicious, but more breading than I can handle. The mashed potatoes were to die for, and also more than I could eat in one sitting. My companion ordered a sliced turkey dinner, and he was very happy with it. The waitress informed us that the owner slow cooks the turkey, and it showed; the meat was super moist and tasty. His meal came with the same monster portion of potatoes, which he also loved. A diner with such focus on quality is a rare find, even in larger cities. New York Deli & Steak House is definitely worth the trip.

My husbands burger was awful and the cook slash owner was worse he did nothing to correct the burger that was sitting in a half cup of grease and the half cup of cheep super sweet ketchup the burger was drenched in. The owner also treated the waitress like it was her fault. I will never be returning because the owner was really rude and could care less about our happiness.
