Best crabcakes in the area no doubt. Little pricey and the portions are kinda small but you just can’t beat Jerry’s on the quality.

If you love a good crabcake and don’t mind a little drive down Route 4 then you must try Jerry’s Place. The family owned business has a warm and friendly atmosphere from the servers and the owner. We were well taken care of and the were very accomodating with the boys. The owner walks around talking to all of the customers in this small and quaint restaurant filled with walls of pictures of amily and friend that clearly tell a great story of love, laughter and good times. Jerry is very friendly and hands on with the customers. The food is delicious and the wait isn’t bad at all because several delicious samples come out for you to try. A must try, the crabcake, kale greens and haddock. #prefathersdaycelebration #itwasfunnywithallthejerrys #weloveourmrglenn #momoftwoboys #jerrysplace #fallynsfoodieexcursions

Friendly staff and delicious tasters to start us off. Love the calamari app and the fish tasted fresh and clean with light batter and not greasy at all. The haddock sandwich was the best deal, better deal than the dinner and thicker filets. Key lime pie for 4 was just dandy. We will return!

It is rare enough for a restaurant to meet my expectations, but this place exceeded it. It seems that so many sea food restaurants are run by a couple of knuckleheads with a deep fryer; this place is the real deal. The menu is small, the daily specials are in season and the food is cooked very well. We were a party of six, including one native Mainer, a former restaurant cook and two picky pre-teens. When our waitress discovers this was our first time here, the owner came by with a series of samples(halibut balls, steamed shrimp, kale and stewed tomatoes). Among us we ordered flounder stuffed with crab, fresh oysters from the oyster bar, fried oysters, a soft-shell crab sandwich, crab cake, halibut, lots of fried shrimp, and of course the kale. Everyone left satisfied, not only with the food but with the attentive service.

I started with the Unilocal reviews — and decided they were too good to pass on. So, for my wife’s birthday, I decided this was gonna be the place. So, with 2 grown daughters and a 5 year old grandson in tow, we ventured here from Bowie in the rain. Pulled up to snickers, as one daughter joked about how«Pops surprises» always turn out! They walked in gingerly and with much skepticism(even the kid). We opened the door(about 3:30PM) and saw that place only had a few patrons. I thought uh-oh, where’d I bring these skeptics! But just then, we were met with heartwarming smiles — a lady welcomed us and spoke to my wife, daughters and grandson as she escorted us to a table that was being prepared for us by a gentleman who also spoke before walking ahead. The gentleman asked us if this was our first visit, and told us he’d be right back with some haddock, kale, bread, stewed tomatoes and some applesauce for our grandson(since«he» was in charge of our group!). Wow! Things were going so well that my wife and grandson — neither who eat tomatoes, both enjoyed Jerry’s stewed tomatoes. Within minutes we were sampling the samples, eating bread, I saw the skeptics turn back into my family with a difference — they were happy! The waitress was fantastic, the owner spoke with us and made us feel like comfortable, and(last but not least) — the food was tremendous! Because of the sampled haddock, all the girls(no longer women for the moment) ordered haddock, chicken strips for the kid and I ordered haddock and crab cake(note: don’t go there and have no one in your group order a crabcake). We ate more kale, and other sides(which were all very good). My daughters decided they also wanted crabcake, so they ordered one to share(did I ever say who was paying for this?). Near the end of our meal, our waitress learned that it was my wife’s birthday — so she appeared shortly with some apple crisp. Bad idea. Real bad idea. My grandson left his plate to go sit with Grandma. My formerly most skeptical skeptic decided to order some apple crisp — just because she saw the look of sheer joy on my wife’s face while eating it. By now there was a wait line forming outside. People know about Jerry’s Place. I’ve typed way too much, but now — you know. Read any other review you need to. But, understand this happened just a few short hours ago, and now«Pop» is the man! LOL And, Jerry’s Place has a new customer. Don’t confuse with Jerry’s Seafood around Bowie and Lanham. They’re not bad restaurants — but they are not the same. This is the Real McCoy!

Great food and service! I had the crab cake, cole slaw and a baked potato. It was all delicious! My family had the salmon, fried oysters, applesauce, kale and beer battered haddock. Everything was great, we will definitely be back.

I’m so tired of big-box stores and chain restaurants. Jerry’s Place is the perfect antidote if you feel like that also. I write today to rave about the fried oysters; they are locally sourced at nearby Broome’s Island, and fried with a VERY light coating. I note that because I have had oysters at other southern MD eateries, and the breading almost overwhelms the bivalve. My bib lettuce salad was also locally sourced from southern Calvert County. My french fries were birthed from an Idaho potato an hour or so before dinnertime. Not on the menu but available if you ask ~ oyster shooters ! Things to know before you go: — it’s a small venue, only 52 seats — parking can be a challenge — they don’t take reservations, but if you have a large group they absolutely will try to work with you if you call ahead The only teeny, tiny«negative» is a very limited beer and wine list … with no local/regional offerings. Jerry’s Place is only 33 miles from Beltway exit 11/MD Rt. 4. It is absolutely worth the trip from ANYWHERE in the metro-DC area !!

I’ve lived in MD my whole life(except for my time in the Navy for 6 yrs). I grew up in Annapolis, spent 5 yrs living in Baltimore(Overlea) and the back to Annapolis for another 8 yrs, and now 13 yrs here in Southern MD(St Mary’s Cty). In that time I’ve eaten a lot of crab cakes… in fact, when cooked right, they are my favorite dish! With that said, tonight I had one of, if not the best crab cake I’ve eaten… EVER! I ate this cab cake at Jerry’s Place! Again, with that said, the crab cake wasn’t even the best part of the meal, believe it or not… Because it was our first time there, both Jerry Sr & Jr catered to us personally, making sure we got a taste/sample of all their favorite dishes before we left. The service and friendliness of the owners on down to all the staff was unbelievable! Other restaurants should use Jerry’s Place as a model for how one should be managed. Hats off to Jerry’s Place… they’ve very well earned a new regular customer!

Perfect definition of a mom and pop shop. I got the crab cake and Icelandic haddock special and both were amazing! Caught fresh nearby in a very generous serving! We met the owner as he walked around the restaurant to greet everyone. I was extremely impressed with all the pre-dinner samples that helped us narrow down our orders. But the crab cracked are divine! Definitely the best crab cake I’ve ever had.

From the moment you walk through the front door you are treated like family. The crab cakes are legendary but Jerry shrugs and says that it’s no secret, crabmeat Hellman’s mayo and that’s it. However the real secret is the charm, kindness and amazing sides and service here. Wish we lived closer!

What a fabulous Place, what an exceptionally great meal, absolutely the best crab cake I’ve ever had in my entire life. I left there so full from my meal and all the extras that they give you and free the samples that they asked you to try. Has to be the friendliest place I’ve ever eaten. There is a reason why they have such great ratings, try for yourself you won’t regret it. i only wish I could give 100 stars.

Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere. Jerry himself comes over to the table, and they brought extra food all around. My friends who ordered oysters said they were the best they ever had. The crab cakes are awesome. Worth coning back for sure!!!

My wife and I were visiting my sister’s family in Maryland and whenever I come down, I need to satisfy my hunger for great seafood, and my sister decided to take us here. This. Place. Is. Awesome. First of all, the owner –Jerry welcomed us; made feel like we were guests in his home. Service by Witney was fast and she was very pleasant to be served by. I ordered the cream of crab soup and the regular crab cake platter, which came with two sides. I chose the stewed tomatoes, and French fries. The cream of crab soup was rich and delicious loaded with lump crab meat. Jerry’s promises crab cakes with no filler, and they deliver! Each bite of the crab cake was filled with tender lump crab meat. The stewed tomatoes were a nice compliment to the over all dinner I had. My wife had the fried oysters which was also enjoyable! The next time I’m in town, and need my Maryland seafood fix, I will definitely be back!

Surprising family owed and run seafood house in a strip mall. I’ve been here two times for the soft shell crabs and all I can say is WOW! Fantastic crunch, taste and flavor for these crabs. The steam shrimp are plump and flavorful as well. The owner, Jerry, walks around and offers samples of different specials and is super personable. Highly recommend and will be back!

The location is kind of «fishy», next to Mr. Tire auto maintenance center, but the food is excellent. We usually share the mega-sized GrandDad crab cake platter, but tonight I had the beer battered Haddock platter(three large filets) and it comes with two large sides. The Kale was well– seasoned and the lettuce wedge was good, but didn’t have the bacon and red onion you get at Outback Steakhouse, but still good. Jerry makes the rounds and offers all of the tables complementary samples of different appetizers and side dishes. He is obviously very proud of his restaurant, and he should be!

Jerry’s Place is happy homey family owned restaurant! My friends and I stopped here on the way back from Calvert Cliffs, and we were blown away by the hospitality of Jerry and family! Jerry walks around giving everyone free samples of whatever’s good that day. On Saturday, it was the haddock and soft shell crabs. I got a platter of the crab cake and the haddock. The crab cake was pure crab, and it was delicious! For the sides, I got the kale and a corn salad. Corn salad wasn’t very good(canned corn, I think), but the kale was delicious(who doesn’t love bacon kale?). The décor is amazing! There are faces of people in various garb painted all over the restaurant. When we asked about it, our waitress said that they have a special artist who paints the faces of regular customers and locals for $ 100/face. I’m not sure when I’ll be back, but I know that I will! Next time I have the opportunity to pass Jerry’s on the road, I’ll be sure to stop by. Excited for my next visit!
