PLATYPUS

Whenever I go to Market Fair mall, I try to walk thru Platypus. It’s full of unique and surprising home goods. I’ve bought a few items (mainly rugs) from them over the years. Decent service. It’s beautiful inside, with an emphasis on deep-​toned wood and leather.

I got a great deal on an awesome table at Platypus in Warrington, PA. The staff was personable and helpful, going over and beyond for me. One thing I appreciate is great service! Thanks guys!

This store has truly unique and gorgeous things, AND it always smells of fresh coffee. I bought a chest of drawers I had custom-​designed and painted. It’s my favorite thing in my house, and people always ask me if it’s an antique and where I found it. Also, the delivery people were awesome.
But if you’re looking for another Pottery Barn, this really isn’t it. They’re not a huge chain, and their work takes time.

An Open Letter:
Dear Terri aka the store manager,
Yes, your store has beautiful products. I walked in and instantly fell in love with a bed frame. I put down a deposit for it. Understandably, it would not delivered to the store for 4 – 6 weeks.
Week 4 arrives, and my mom called up the store to find out if the bed left the factory yet, did you know when it would be delivered to the store for pickup, what the cancellation process was if we decided to cancel the order? There had to be SOME answers on what the status was of this bed. You told us you did not know, but would call the department who would know and call us back the next day. Sounds good! Bye!
24 Hours pass, we call up to find out what the deal is. This part of the conversation will be titled: «Instant Attitude Problem — ‘I TOLD YOU I WOULD CALL YOU ON FRIDAY!’ edition»
Were you having a bad day? Do you hate your job? Why were you raising your voice? All of a sudden, you claimed that you told us you would get back to us on Friday. Um, we called you on Tuesday. Now it is Wednesday. Did you have to call another country? Was there a time difference to account for? So many questions flew through my mind. Then right before the conversation ended, you said you were calling the department right now. I thought you were calling yesterday to let us know today? You are one confusing person. It must be hard to make plans with you.

Friday finally came. Of course, I called (I was not expecting you to call me). I talked to Sherry (who was VERY NICE). I wish i was dealing with her the WHOLE TIME. Unfortunately, she put you on the phone. You then told me that you would call to let me know the definite delivery time (next week or week after), but you think it is 6 weeks from the order date. We chatted about delivery charges. I then repeated that you said you would call to give me a DEFINITE delivery time. All of a sudden you claimed that you never said you would call me back and to assume it is 6 weeks. You just told me you would find out the delivery status in this conversation!
CANCEL LEVEL: 100%
I did have to pay a 15% restocking fee. Well worth it. I paid to never have to deal with you or your store ever again.

The Girl Who Keeps Calling About the Bed
Worst experience… ever.

The furniture is neat to look at but the prices are OBSCENE. I don’t care how wealthy you are– these are not valuable antiques and are simply not worth anywhere near the prices charged here. Platypus also does not deliver, so if you buy a large piece you will have to arrange delivery yourself or rent a truck and bribe some friends.
The truffles and other candies sold here are huge and outstanding. They are rather expensive, but a custom assortment of 6 or 12 makes a very impressive gift. I will never, ever buy home furnishings here, but the truffles are a hit!:)

What an eclectic selection of items! I love going in this store to browse through the art, furniture, knick-​knacks and decorations. There is always something new to see when you enter. Make sure you get a bit of their coffee as well — it’s amazing!
Last but not least, the staff is always friendly and helpful!
