Princeton Flemington Eye Institute

Every time I come here I wait forever. they take me pretty much on tome and then after the routine stuff with the assistants, I sit for half an hour to 45 minutes in an exam room waiting to see the doctor. Today I had. 5:30 appointment for a contact lens follow up, it is now 6:10 and I am still sitting in an exam room waiting for the doctor. I hear the technicians chatting and laughing in the hall/​lobby, but no one is seeing me. The last time I was here, I went out into reception after 45 minutes to see if I had been forgotten about. Horrible service. This will be my last visit to this office.

I will explain my experience as best I can. I did not see the doctor. I am under a new healthplan at work, Health Republic. I needed a routine eye exam and found one nearer to my house in Flemington but they said they did not take my insurance. I then called up this opthalmologist and was careful to give my insurance company, plan and ID number over the phone and was clear– I asked them do they take my insurance for routine eye exam. They said yes we do. OK fine. Go there a week later wait 45 minutes and was told they do not take the insurance as I do not have a vision plan rider on the policy. They said it was my fault. I pointed out that I was clearly told yes they argued and told me it was my fault. Horrible. If anything admit there was a miscommunication and say you will make sure to ask next time. Like talking to a wall. I walked out – aggravating.
I called another place and they had the sense to check first and said they would be fine giving an exam, much more pleasant.

I’ve been going here for a few years and have no complaints about their service; the reception desk is always really attentive and professional, and my checkups have been great. The Docs seem to be quite knowledgeable and are willing to answer questions you throw their way. They’ve also recently begun digitizing all of their records which makes for less hassle.
The only drawbacks for me would be that the wait time before appointments sometimes reaches a half an hour. They also have a relatively limited selection in the optical shop, especially for things like sportswear. But I was told they’re also happy to order anything in for you to try on.
I don’t exactly have a huge sample size of other spots around to compare to, but I’ve always had a good experience here.
